INTRODUCTION The year 2013-14 was an eventful year with a varied events happening at Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, Nagpur. New exhibits 01Nos.for Fun Science and 10 Nos. for Astronomy Corner , 01 Nos. for Science Park, 12 Nos. for GSCP, 5 Nos. of Duplicate exhibits upcoming centre, 10 Nos. of new Kits were fabricated during the year. A temporary exhibition on Comet ISON with 22 panels was developed and was displayed at the Centre. 5 Nos. of gallery Exhibits and 2 Nos of Science Park and 20 exhibits of Astronomy & Space Unit of Mobile Science Exhibition were renovated during the year. Travelling exhibition on “Disaster-Preparing for the Worst”, Temporary Exhibition on Comet ISON, Science Expo: An Exposition of Scientific & Research Organizations, Program on International Year of Water Co-operation, Mega Drawing Contest, RobOlympics were the events of attraction this year. Other exhibitions such as exhibition on Eco-forest and Water Management, My Own Collection and Medicinal Plants & Products were also organised at the Centre on different occasions. The year 2013 was celebrated as International Year of Water Co-operation. Various Educational activities such as Popular Science Lectures, Quizes Painting Contest, Science Film Festivals, Sky Observation Programmes, Teachers‟ Training Programmes, Vacation & Regular Creative Ability Centre, Science Drama Festival, Science Seminar, Planetarium Shows, Mobile Science Exhibitions, Tree Plantation, Meet the Scientist, International Olympiad Test, Aero-modelling, NMTC Exam, Quest, Annual Science quiz, Poster Exhibition, Science Slogan Writing, , Essay Writing, Elocution, Science March, Power Point presentation Contest, Science News Board, V-SAT Programmes, Jupiter observation Weeks, Telescope Making etc. were organised during the year by collaborating with different institutions. Light & Sound Shows in Prehistoric Animal Park, 3-D Film Shows, Science Shows & Demonstration Lectures were conducted regularly for the students & general public. The events like Workshops on Comet ISON and Robitics, Working Science Model Contest, Teaching Aid Demonstration Contest, Hand Writing Contest, Mega Drawing Competitions and Science Expo. attracted large number of visitors.
During the year 1649 planetarium shows, 3068 3-D shows & 186 Light and Sound shows in Prehistoric Animal Park have been conducted in which 132658, 1,15,001 and 67586 visitors visited respectively. 15 commemorative programmes viz World Earth Day, National Technology Day, International Museum Day, Zero Shadow Day, World Environment Day, Hindi Pakhwada, International Space Week Celebration , World Science Day, 100 years of Nuclear Physics, Children‟s Day Celebration , International Year of Water Co-operation, Centenary Year of Discovery of Atomic Nucleus, National Science Day, Anniversary Week Celebration, National Mathematics Day, etc.. In addition to these programmes 30 collaborative events were organised during the year. In all 4,32,221 visitors visited the centre during the year. 2. GENERAL INFORMATION

4. NEW GALLERIES/OTHER FACILITIES/MAJOR RENOVATION The Centre developed 23 new exhibits for different galleries as below. 01 Nos. for Fun Science, 10 Nos. for Astronomy Corner, 12 Nos. for Science of Ocean Gallery of GSCP and 01 No. for Science Park. 08 Nos. of duplicate exhibits on Fun Science were fabricated for other up-coming Science Centres. 22 Nos. of Panel exhibits were developed for Temporary Exhibition on ISON Comet and 10 Nos. of new Kits were fabricated during the year. 5 Nos. of Exhibits in galleries, 20 Nos. exhibits of MSE unit on Astronomy & Space and 2 Nos. Science Park exhibits were also renovated during the year.
TEMPORARY EXHIBITION COMET ISON: A special Exhibition on COMET ISON was developed by Raman Science Centre and was inaugurated during the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Zonal Cultural Centres organised by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The Exhibition comprises of 22 panels giving information about History of Comet watching, Formation of Solar System, ISON Comet, Types of comets, Path of Comets, Famous Comets, Are Comet threat to Life, Space Missions to visit Comet, discovering Comet etc. The Exhibition was inaugurated on 10
th
November 2013 and was on display till 16th November 2013 at the Kasturchand Park, Nagpur. It was
witnessed by about 35,000 visitors. The exhibition was then installed at Temporary Exhibition hall at RSC, Nagpur and was open to public from 20
th Nov.2013. to 31
st Dec.2013. The exhibition was visited by about
52057 visitors.
ORANGE CITY SCIENCE FAIR
Orange City Science Fair was organised at Raman Science Centre, Nagpur in collaboration with Navneet
Publication India Limited on the occasion of Valediction of International Year of Water Co-operation &
Centenary Year of Discovery of Atomic Nucleus. from 26th December 2013 to 28
th December 2013. This
consisted of Working Science Model Contest: for the students and Teaching Aids for the teachers. In this
fair 165 students from 58 schools participated. 24 teachers participated from 15 different school also
participated in Teaching aid Demonstration contest.
THE SCIENCE EXPO 2014
The third Science Expo was organized at Raman Science Centre from 08 January to 12st January 2014 in
collaboration and participation of 15 research organizations. The Science Expo was inaugurated on 8th
Jan.2014 by Dr. C. D.Mayee, Prof. Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi in presence of Dr. A.K.
Rai, Additional Director, Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration & Research, Dept. of Atomic Energy,
Hyderabad. The participating institutions displayed their research findings which were demonstrated by the
scientists of the respective institutions. About 62650 people including school groups and general public
visited the Science Expo.
A series of Popular Science Lecture series was also organised in which 10 lectures were delivered by
eminent Scientists of participating institutions. About 1345 students, teachers & general public attended the
lectures.
Valedictory function of the Science Expo was held on 12th Jan.2014. Shri R N Patel, Principal General
Manager, BSNL, Nagpur was the Chief Guest and Dr. Satish R. Wate, Director, NEERI, Nagpur presided
over the function.
ROBOLYMPICS :
RobOlympics an event of Robo Pradarshani, Robo Race & Robo the e-handi was organised at Raman
Science Centre & Planetarium, Nagpur in collaboration with iLabs, Nagpur during 31st January to 2
nd
February, 2014. Robo Pradarshani was participated by 38 participants who demonstrated their own
Robots,along with the robots displayed by iLabs, Nagpur. About 225 No. of students participated in the
Robo Competitions and 19513 visitors visited the exhibition.
TEACHING AID DEMONSTRATION & EXHIBITION:
Teaching Aid Demonstration & Exhibition was organised for the teachers on 24th & 25
th March 2014. 25
teachers participated in it. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Anant Vyavhare, Retd. HOD, Dept. of
Maths, Mohta Science Lecture and Dr. Aruna Shobhane, Lecturer, Dinanath Junior College, Nagpur. The
exhibition was visited by 1028 students, teachers & general public.

8. MOBILE SCIENCE EXHIBITION PROGRAMMES
The MSE‟s are meant to take the knowledge of science & technology to the doorstep of common man living in rural areas. The sites for holding such exhibitions are selected in collaboration with Education Departments of respective States/Units. In addition to holding of the exhibition mounted on specially designed buses, science films shows, sky Observation Programmes, Taramandal shows, Science demonstration lectures etc., to prove special attraction for rural populace.

11. TRAINING A. TEACHERS’ TRAINING PROGRAMMES (TTP) Teachers‟ Training Programme envisages providing an opportunity and exposure to secondary/primary school teachers in handling of tools & raw materials. 14. COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMME
See Annexure V for more details 15. TRAVELLING /TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS Temporary exhibitions are organised to highlight various important issues concerning society with scientific input. DISASTER-PREPARING FOR THE WORST: Traveling Exhibition titled Disaster- Preparing for the Worst was set up at RSC, Nagpur and was inaugurated on 29.08.2013. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Satish Wate, Director, NEERI, Nagpur in presence of Dr. Amit Majumdar, Regional Director, Atomic Mineral Directorate for Exploration & Research, Nagpur. The exhibition was comprising of 30 panels, 4 interactive exhibits and 3 kiosks depicting the various aspects of Disasters. The exhibition was open for public till 15th November, 2013. In all 52563 visitors visited the exhibition. TEMPORARY EXHIBITION COMET ISON: A special Exhibition on COMET ISON was developed by Raman Science Centre and was inaugurated during the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Zonal Cultural Centres organised by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The Exhibition comprises of 22 panels giving information about History of Comet watching, Formation of Solar System, ISON Comet, Types of comets, Path of Comets, Famous Comets, Are Comet threat to Life, Space Missions to visit Comet, discovering Comet etc. The Exhibition was inaugurated on 10th November 2013 and was on display till 16th November 2013 at the Kasturchand Park, Nagpur. It was witnessed by about 35,000 visitors. The exhibition was then installed at Temporary Exhibition hall at RSC, Nagpur and was on display for visitors from 20th Nov.2013 to 31st Dec.2013. The exhibition was visited by about 52057 visitors. MY OWN COLLECTION EXHIBITION: An Exhibition titled My Own Collection was organised on the occasion of International Museum Day Celebration. The exhibition was inaugurated on 16th May 2013. It was participated by members of ChhandVaibhav, Nagpur & enthusiast members of Raman Science Centre, Nagpur. Various articles and collection such as Stamps, Coins, Antiques, brass articles, Wooden articles, Meghdoot post cards, Newspapers, Shoe Shape articles, Match Boxes, wood art, Currency notes, origami, soap carving, cameras and telescopes & erasers etc. depicting the historical importance were kept in the exhibition. The exhibition was open for public till 19th may 2013. In all 8726 students visited the exhibition. EXHIBITION : ECO-FOREST AND WATER MANAGEMENT , MEDICINAL PLANTS & THEIR PRODUCTS An exhibition Eco-forest and Water Management developed by Dept. of Environmental Science, Institute of Science, Nagpur and Medicinal Plants & products was organized at RSC, Nagpur on 5th June, 2013 (World Environment Day). The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Dr. V. P. Thergaonkar, Ex Scientist, NEERI, Nagpur.In this exhibition 29 nos. various medicinal plants and 35 Nos. of plants products used as medicines and The exhibits developed by Dept. of Environmental Science, Institute of Science, Nagpur pertaining to the ongoing research activities of Dept. such as Development of Eco-forest and Water Management etc. were on display. The exhibition remained open for public till 07th June 2013. In all 3,746 visitors witnessed the exhibition. POSTER EXHIBITION: A Poster Exhibition was organised on the topic “Water Co-operation” 158 students participated in it. The Selected 95 Posters were on display during the Orange City Science Fair at the venue. ROBOLYMPICS : an event of RoboPradarshani, Robo Race &Robo the e-handi was organised at Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, Nagpur in collaboration with iLabs, Nagpur during the period 31st January to 2nd February, 2014.RoboPradarshani was participated by 38 participants who demonstrated their own Robots,along with the robots displayed by iLabs, Nagpur. 19513 students , teachers & general Public witnessed the exhibition & event. TEACHING AID DEMONSTRATION & EXHIBITION was organised for the teachers on 24th& 25th March 2014. 25 teachers participated in it. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. AnantVyavhare, Retd. HOD, Dept. of Maths, Mohta Science Lecture and Dr. ArunaShobhane, Lecturer, Dinanath Junior College, Nagpur. The exhibition was visited by 1028 students, teachers & general public.

ANNEXURE – IV COMMOMORATIVE EVENTS EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: Earth Day was celebrated at Raman Science Centre, Nagpur on 22
nd April. This year the theme for the
event was The Face of Climate Change & the major campaign is to inspire people to act and inspire ourselves to redouble our efforts in the fight against climate change. Following programmes on 22
nd April 2013 for the students.
a. Sit and Draw Contest: Time 9.00 am to 10.30 am
The students were given following topics: Topics: 1. Save Our Mother Earth,
2. Recycling and waste Reduction, 3. Energy Resources, 4. Save Tiger, Conserve Nature, 5. Global warming and climate Change. 6. Cleaning & beautification of Nag River
About 78 students participated in the contest.
b. Popular Science Lecture: A Popular Science Lecture was also held for the students on the theme “Face of Earth: Myths & Reality”. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Prakash Kumbhare, Principal Scientist, ,National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Nagpur. About 105 students participated.
c. Open House Quiz on the theme OUR EARTH: Students were asked questions based on Our Earth. The Quiz was of open in nature. The successful participants were awarded with spot prizes. In this also 125 students participated.
NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY: National Technology Day was celebrated at RSC, Nagpur on 11
th May 2013. Following

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY CELEBRATION: International Museum Day was celebrated in collaboration with Zonal Anthropological Museum, Anthropological Survey of India CRC, Nagpur on 18
th May 2013.
Following programmes were conducted at Anthropological Museum:
a. Visit to Anthropological Museum : The student members of RSC, Nagpur were taken to the guide tour of galleries of Anthropological Museum. About 150 students participated in it.
b. Drawing & Painting Competition was organised for the students of Class I to X. The students were given the topics: Tribal Art & Culture & Traditional Science in Rural Area. About 168 students participated in it. The Prizes were awarded to the students in 3 categories.
c. Popular Lecture on the topic Indian Cultural Heritage was also organised. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Kwaja Rabbani, Director, Epigraphy, Archeological Survey of India, Nagpur.
d. Open House Quiz on Museums was also organised for the students. The students were asked questions pertaining to Various Museums all over the world. The successful students were awarded on the spot. 175 students & parents participated in Lecture & Quiz.
MY OWN COLLECTION EXHIBITION: An Exhibition titled My Own Collection was organised on the occasion of International Museum Day Celebration. The exhibition was inaugurated on 16
th May
2013. The exhibition was participated by members of Chhand Vaibhav, Nagpur & enthusiast members of Raman Science Centre, Nagpur. Various articles and collection such as Stamps, Coins, Antiques, brass articles, Wooden articles, Meghdoot post cards, Newspapers, Shoe Shape articles, Match Boxes, wood art, Currency notes, origami, soap carving, cameras and telescopes & erasers etc. depicting the historical importance were kept in the exhibition. The exhibition was open for public till 19
th may 2013. In all 8726 students visited the exhibition.
NO SHADOW DAY:
Zero Shadow Day occurs at Nagpur on 26th May at local noon. A public outreach programme at
Raman Science Centre was organized on Sunday i.e. 26th May. An experimental set up was
prepared to observe this phenomenon. Two cylinders were kept on a flat glass sheet casting shadow on a paper kept below. Before 12.10 when the sun was not directly overhead, the shadows cast by the two cylinders were elongated. But when the sun came directly overhead, the shadows became exactly circular. After 10 -15 minutes it started getting elongated again. This was
experienced by 50 to 60 students and parents present in the centre. It was "very exciting" for them to experience their own shadow disappearing at about 12.10 pm.

celebrate World Environment Day. a. Sit & Draw Competition: Sit & Draw / Poster Making Competition was held on 05.06.13. Topics: 1. Junior Gr. : I am in a Park , I am in Zoo
2. Middle Group: Stop Polluting Nag River ,Save Water 3. Senior Gr.: Save Food-Save Resources, Global Warming
About 185 students participated in it. b. Inauguration of an exhibition Eco-forest and Water Management developed by Dept. of Environmental Science, Institute of Science, Nagpur and Medicinal Plants & products by Dr. Dr. V. P. Thergaonkar, Ex Scientist, NEERI, Nagpur. In this exhibition 29 nos. various medicinal plants and 35 Nos. of plants products used as medicines and The exhibits developed by Dept. of Environmental Science, Institute of Science, Nagpur pertaining to the ongoing research activities of Dept. such as Development of Eco-forest and Water Management etc. were on display. The exhibition remained open for public till 07
th June 2013. In all
3,746 visitors witnessed the exhibition. c. Open House Quiz: The students were asked the questions related to Environment. The successful participants were suitably awarded on the spot. About 150 students participated in it. d. Popular Science Lecture: Popular Science Lecture was also organised on the theme “Challenges of Changing Environment”. The lecture was delivered by Dr. V. P. Thergaonkar, Ex Scientist, NEERI, Nagpur. About 175 students participated in it. e. Prize Distribution: The winners of Sit & Draw competition were awarded in presence of Dr. V. P. Thergaonkar, Ex Scientist, NEERI, and Dr. Sunil Ganatra, Head, Dept. of Environmental Science, Institute of Science, Nagpur.
Hindi Pakhwada (14 to 28 September 2013):
Elocution Contest was organised on 24th September during Hindi Pakhwada at RSC, Nagpur in
collaboration with Regional Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Nagpur. The students presented their speech on the topic “Sourmandal ki khoj me ISRO ka Yogdan” In all 35 students from 35 different Schools participated in the competition. About 147 students, teachers and parents witnessed the event. Various Competitions like Letter Writing, Essay Writing, Hindi Translation, Hindi Typing, Hindi Songs. Hindi Poem Recitation were held for the staff members of RSC, Nagpur during hindi pakhwada. All the 22 staff members participated in the programmes.
INTERNATIONAL SPACE WEEK CELEBRATION (4-10 OCTOBER 2013) International Space Week was celebrated at RSC, Nagpur in collaboration with Regional Remote Sensing Centre (ISRO), Nagpur Following programmes were organised on 8th October 2013: a) Popular Science Lectures on the theme “India‟s Rocket Launching Capabilities” & “Indian
Space Programme - New Challanges” were organised. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Tushar Bhat, Scientist, VSSC, Trivendrum and Dr. A.K. Joshi, RRSC (ISRO), Nagpur resp.

Physics in memory of invention of Atomic Nucleus by Lord Rutherford. a) Popular Science Lecture: The Popular Science Lecture on the theme “Lord Rutherford & his
Discovery of Atomic Nucleus” was delivered by Dr. Ramesh Singru, Retd. Prof. & HOD Dept. of Physics, IIT, Kanpur.
b) Science Film Show: Science Films on Nuclear Energy & Discovery of radio-activity were screened for the students.
c) Open House Quiz on Nuclear Physics was also organised. About 180 students participated in it.

Students were provided a questionnaire based on Exhibits of Raman Science Centre. They were allowed to explore the gallery exhibits to answer the questions. About 145 students participated in it. Popular Science lecture: Lecture was organised on the occasion. The lecture was delivered by Dr. A. K. Joshi, Scientist, Regional Remote Sensing Centre, (ISRO), Nagpur on the topic “India‟s Mission to Mars”. About 150 students, general public attended the lecture. Open House Quest: Open House Quest was also organised. Science Experiments were demonstrated to the students. Students were asked questions based on it .Successful students were awarded on the spot. About 175 students participated in the quest.
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION (14
TH NOVEMBER 2013)
On the occasion of Children‟s Day, The centre invited the child cancer patients to give them exposure to the activities of RSC, Nagpur. Their visit to the centre was organised in collaboration with Dept. of Radiology & Oncology, Gandhi Medical College, Nagpur. They were taken to various galleries of the centre as well as Planetarium Show, 3-D Show and Prehistoric Animal Park. In all 115 students along with their parents participated.
NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY & ANNIVERSARY WEEK CELEBRATION: National Science Day & Anniversary Week was celebrated at Raman Science Centre from 24

February and continued till 07th March 2014. Following programmes have been organized:
1. Essay Writing Contest for teachers on the topic : Role of Science in Eradication of Superstition. 35
teachers participated. 2. Science Slogan Writing Contest: The contest was held on the topics Save Girl Child, Pollution
Control & Science & Society. 190 students participated. 3. Science Rally was organized on 28 February 2014. The students were carrying placards giving
message science to society. In all 650 students participated in it. 4. Popular Science Lecture on Crystallography was delivered by Dr. Jugade, Asstt. Prof. Dept. of
Chemistry, RTM, University, Nagpur 135 students participated 5. Open House Quiz was held on the topic Sir C.V. Raman- His Life & Work.155 students
participated. 6. Elocution contest was organised on 03
rd March 2014 on the theme “Indian Mission to Mars-
Mangalyaan”. 35 students participated in it. 7. Written Science Quiz was organised on 4
th March for the students in two categories i.e. Middle
School and High School on the theme “General Science” & “Reasoning Science”. 415 students participated in it.
8. Power Point Presentation Contest was organised on 5th March for teachers of High School &
Junior College on the topic “Crystal-that shape our world”. 22 teachers participated in it. 9. Treasure Hunt Contest was organised on 6
th March for the students of High School. The students
were given questionnaire on Gallery Exhibits. 135 students participated in it. 10. Popular Science Lecture was organised on 7

ordinator,RSC, Nagpur delivered a lecture on the topic:”Fostering Scientific Temper” 11. Open House Quest was organised for the high school students. They were shown the scientific
experiments, based on which questions were asked. The successful students were awarded. Valediction & Prize distribution was organised in which the winners of various contest organised during the celebration were awarded. NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY:
National Mathematics Day was celebrated in collaboration with NCSTC, DST, Govt. of India & RGSTC, Govt. of Maharashtra by organising following activities: Workshop on Mathematics: Popular lectures were organised on 21
st March 2014 on the topic
“History of Indian Mathematics” & “Fun With Mathematics”. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Anant Vyavhare, Retd. HOD, Dept. of Maths, Mohta Science Lecture and Smt. Aruna Shobhane, Lecturer, Dinanath Junior College, Nagpur. 65 teachers of 9 schools & B.Ed College participated. Fabrication of Teaching Aid: fabrication of teaching aids was organised on 22
nd March in which
60 teachers fabricated various Mathematical kits viz. Pythagoras Theorem, Probability Area Of Triangle etc. in all 50 kits were fabricated by them.
Teaching Aid Demonstration & Exhibition was organised for the teachers on 24th & 25
th March
2014. 25 teachers participated in it. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Anant Vyavhare, Retd. HOD, Dept. of Maths, Mohta Science Lecture and Dr. Aruna Shobhane, Lecturer, Dinanath Junior College, Nagpur. The exhibition was visited by 1028 students, teachers & general public. Popular Science Lecture on “Srinivas Ramanujan-A Life Sketch” was also delivered by Smt. Aruna Shobhane. Written Science Quiz on Mathematics was also organized for the students of High School during the celebration. 178 students participated in it.

SPECIAL VISIT OF STUDENTS FROM NAXAL AFFECTED AREA GADCHIROLI:
Visit of underprivileged students of Gadchiroli Dist. was organised at Raman Science Centre in collaboration with Nonconventional Training Centre, Nagpur Police. The visit was arranged during Maharashtra Golden Jubilee Year scheme for the students of families affected due to naxalite activities. The students were give exposure to the various facilities of Raman Science Centre such as gallery visit, Planetarium Show, 3-D Science Show, Science Demonstration Lecturers on Physical Science and Fun at Low temperature. About 195 students visited in two batches on 28

June 2013.
TREE PLANTATION: Tree Plantation was arranged at RSC, Nagpur in collaboration with Maitry Pariwar & NSS, Tidke Junior College, Nagpur on 15
th July 2013. The students of NSS, Tidke College planted variety of
Plants in the campus of the centre. About 30 plants of Jamun, Thuja & Bamboo were planted. About 50 students and officials of Maitry Pariwar were present on the occasion.
WORKSHOP FOR THE SCIENCE SUPERVISORS : Workshop for the Science Supervisors of Education Department, Govt. of Maharashtra was organised by SISE, Nagpur in collaboration with RSC, Nagpur on 22.08.2013 & 23.08.2013. They were given exposure about the organisation of exhibitions under INSPIRE Scheme. Special Demonstration on Fun at Low Temperature was organised for them. 2 Nos. of Popular Science lectures were also arranged. The lectures were delivered by Sh. S.P.Pathak, Curator F, NSC, Mumbai and Sh. V.N. Joshi, Project Co-ordinator, RSC, Nagpur on the theme “Innovative Science Projects” and “Scientific Activities for the students, Teachers by Science Centres” respectively. In all 54 science supervisors participated in it.
DISTRICT LEVEL SCIENCE SEMINAR
District Level Science Seminar was organised by Education Dept. Zilha Parishad, Nagpur in collaboration with Raman Science Centre, Nagpur on 26 & 27
th August 2013. The theme of the
seminar was Water Co-operation: Issues & Challenges. In all 91 students from 91 schools participated in it. About 350 students, teachers & parents witnessed the seminar.

WORKSHOP FOR ROBO OLYMPICS
A series of workshops is being organised for the students & teachers of High School and Junior Colleges.in collaboration with iLabs, Nagpur. 12 Nos. of Workshops for Robo Olympics were held in which 463 students and teachers were given presentation on robotics followed by hands on activities. The selected students are also given advanced level training so that they can fabricate kits on Robotics which will be exhibited in ROBO OLYMPICS.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ROBOLYMPICS-2014 Orientation programme for ROBOLYMPICS -2014 was organised on 9th October 2013 in collaboration with iLabs, Nagpur. The teachers of various schools were invited for the programme.
The teachers were given guidelines for the participation of students in various contests i.e. Robo Exhibition, Robo Race, Robo-the e-handi etc. They were also elaborated the technical aspects and their role to promote students to participate in the event. About 60 teachers participated.
DISTRICT LEVEL SCIENCE DRAMA CONTEST
District Level Science Drama Contest was organised on 30th October 2013 at RSC, Nagpur in
collaboration with Dept. of Education, Zilha Parishad, Nagpur. 6 teams of Nagpur district participated in it. 6 dramas from 6 different schools were presented during the contest by 48 participants. The dramas were witnessed by about 238 students
MATI KE RANG A Special Exhibition called “Mati Ke Rang” was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India to celebrate the Silver Jubilee celebration of Zonal Cultural Centres at Kasturchand Park, Nagpur during 10
th to 16
th Nov.2013. Raman Science Centre participated in this exhibition with the Mobile
Science Exhibition on Fun Science and a Temporary Panel Exhibition on Comet ISON. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Director of Central Zone on 10
th Nov. 2013 and thereafter it was
open for public upto 16th Nov.2013. About 35,000 visitors visited the exhibition during above period.
The Valedictory function was held on 16th Nov.2013 in which Shri B. L. Josh, Hon‟ble Governor of
UP was the Chief Guest and Ms. Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Hon,ble Minister of Culture, Govt. of India had presided over the function. Other dignitaries such as Minister of Culture of Maharashtra and Meghalaya, Shri Ravindra Singh, Secretary, Min. of Culture, Govt. of India and Directors of all the Zonal Cultural Centres were present on the occasion.

Popular Science lecture on ISON COMET was organised at RSC, Nagpur on 28th November 2013
through VSAT Talk Back Terminal in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi. The Lecture was delivered by Dr. Sachin Narvadia, Scientist, Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi. About 75 students present Nagpur, Kolhapur & Pune SIT were benefitted.
HANDWRITING CONTEST:
Handwriting contest was organised on 11th December 2013 in collaboration with Madhukar Rao
Bhakre Pratishthan, Nagpur. 5550 students from 112 schools participated it. The Prize distribution was held on 25

A series of Popular Science Lecture series was also organised in which 10 lectures were delivered by eminent Scientists of participating institutions. About 1345 students, teachers & general public attended the lectures. Valedictory function was held on 12
th Jan.2014 and Shri R N Patel, Principal General Manager,
BSNL, Nagpur was the Chief Guest and Dr. Satish R. Wate, Director, NEERI, Nagpur presided over the function. About 62650 people including school groups and general public visited the Science Expo.
ROBOLYMPICS-2014
RobOlympics an event of Robo Pradarshani, Robo Race & Robo the e-handi was organised at Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, Nagpur in collaboration with iLabs, Nagpur during the period 31
st January to 2
nd February, 2014.
Robo Pradarshani was participated by 38 participants who demonstrated their own Robots,along with the robots displayed by iLabs, Nagpur. Robo Race & Robo the e-handi was participated by 244 students. The robots made by the students and robots provided by iLabs were utilised for both the event. Various tasks on specially prepared track were given to the students. Whole event was witnessed by about 19513 students, Teachers & general Public.
MEGA DRAWING CONTEST: Mega Drawing Contest was organised on 01
st March 2013 in collaboration with Godrej Anandam and

SCIENCE FICTION STORY WRITING CONTEST:
Science Fiction Story Writing Contest was organised in collaboration with XradianZ, Nagpur on 15th
February. About 198 students participated in it. The selected entries will be published in the form a booklet by XradianZ Nagpur
GREEN FINGER & GREEN SCHOOL AWARD CONTEST: Green Finger & Green School Award has been organised at Raman Science Centre in collaboration with Hirwai, Nagpur. The contest was organised in 4 categories from October 2013 to January 2014. The projects like Plantation of Tree, Vegetables, Nursery Development and Tree sensus were entrusted on the students. The valediction & Prize distribution was held on 7

February 2014. Dr. Maruti Chitampalli, Renowned Wildlife Conservationist and Marathi Writer was the Chief Guest of the function. In all 2500 students participated in it.
