Proposal of opening up a centre of excellence in software at

Darjeeling under the aegis of centre for railway information systemsSetting up of a railway industrial park through a joint venture

between Burn

Standard Co. Ltd. and SAIL has already been initiated in this Park.

 A captive thermal power plant of 1,000 MW at Nabi nagar is at anadvance stage of construction.

 A second thermal power plant of 1,320 MW capacity at Adra is inthe process of being set up.

Safety

� We are trying sincerely to ensure any incidents do not occur.

� Railway is passenger friendly, safe and a cheap mode of transport. Rail faresare close to one-fourth that of the road.\

� our recent trials with an improved version of ACD have met with success and itwill be commissioned on three zonal railways,

� The number of incidents at unmanned level crossings, has come down by 36%with the elimination of 1,500 unmanned crossings, construction of 172 R Bsand 240 RUBs/subways.

Measures to improve passenger

Better accessibility at stations for physically challengedcustomers;

 A new portal for e-ticketing by Centre for Railway Information

Systems (CRIS) is ready and will be launched shortly.

Different facilities proposed

physically handicapped persons are not entitledfor concessions on Rajdhani and Shatabdi

trains. It is proposed to extend the concessionfacility to them in these trains also.

Press correspondents are now entitled to avail50% concession with family for two years.

 At present the concession for senior citizens isextended to both men and women at 60 years of age. I propose to reduce this in case of women

to 58 years.

Few benefits proposed

In 2011-12, the covering around 1,000 kmare proposed to be electrified.

There is no increase in passenger faresproposed for this year.

Mobile vans for issuing e-tickets will beextended to government medical college

hospitals, High Courts, District Court,University campus, IT hubs, IITs and IIMs.
