The end of 2016, including the run up to Christmas was a busy period in the rail signalling market, with a large volume of commissioning works taking place over the festive period particularly in Acton, Cardiff and on the Crossrail project. Contrary to this, the start of 2017 has painted a different picture as the market has experienced a considerable down-turn, largely due to the budget overspend in other areas of Network Rail. However the outlook further into the year is extremely positive with large projects picking up momentum and other smaller projects in the pipeline. A key project which is already starting to build is 4LM (four line modernisation underground project) which will provide an array of resourcing opportunities and requirements for our rail signalling candidates and clients. In general the rail signalling market from the summer right up to Christmas 2017 is set to be much more buoyant, and with budget being moved into CP6, the long term outlook is also extremely promising. For signalling candidates and clients, the following information will enable you to benchmark the salaries and benefits you are offering or receiving. The data is from our in house salary survey, My Salary Tool, which contains salary and benefit information from over 15,000 candidates currently working in the engineering and construction industries.
The data in this report is based on surveys completed by contract signalling candidates only.
