UTelco Services UTelco Services TypicalTypical RequirementsRequirements

• Generate new revenue

• PDH LL (E1/T1/E3/T3) services over scalable Ethernet/fiber

• Ethernet services over existing SDH/SONET infrastructure

• Enhance services to rural areas - be a Carrier’s Carrier

• Simplify network to reduce operational expenditures

• Increase bandwidth for video streaming, conferencing, surveillance systems, LAN services and Internet access services

• Maintain service level for core utility communication needs such as:• Low/high speed RTUs

• Mission critical applications such as teleprotection (IEEE C37.94) etc.

• Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme

• Benefits:

• More efficient protection: service resiliency is ensured without committing bandwidth for protections paths

• Flexibility in bandwidth allocation: non traffic interrupting bandwidth provisioning

• Easier service provisioning: configure the NTU to maximum bandwidth capacity and limit configuration changes to the core

Leveraging Deployed SDH/SONETLeveraging Deployed SDH/SONETVPN over Legacy SDH/SONETVPN over Legacy SDH/SONET

• Leverages the legacy SDH/SONET network

• Granular transparent LAN services

• TDM LL and Ethernet services

• Central management via DCC

• Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint topologies

• Standard solution

TDM LL over PSNTDM LL over PSNWhat is TDMoIP?What is TDMoIP?

• Protocol for extending circuits over IP networks

• Transparent to protocols and signaling

• Supports legacy telephony - including proprietary features

• Low latency and high voice quality

• Good for voice, data and video over IP

• Suitable for enterprise and carrier applications

• The synchronous bit stream is chopped into packets

• IP headers are added

• Packets are forwarded to destination over the PSN network

• At destination, the original bit stream is reconstructed by removing

IP headers, concatenating the packets, and regenerating the clock

• This technology is called TDMoIP or pseudowires: SAToP, TDMoIP,

CESoPSN, HDLCoIP, ATMoPSN
