After obtaining his medical degree from the Imperial College School of Medicine in 1998, Dr Sheah was admitted to the specialist accreditation board as a radiologist in 2003. He received the Young Radiologist Award at the Singapore Radiological Society annual scientic meeting in 2001 for a presentation on embolization of postnatal haemorrhage. At the Radiological Society of North America annual scientic meeting, he received a Merit Award for a presentation on nasopharyngeal carcinoma recurrence. He has co- authored 2 textbook chapters on topics related to X-ray physics and, CT and MR imaging of the shoulder. Previously, Dr Sheah served on the committees of the Singapore Radiological Society and the College of Radiologists, Singapore. This year, he is involved in organizing the Singapore Radiological Society's Annual Scientic Meeting (with a Musculoskeletal Radiology theme), and is co-director of the Orthopaedic Radiology-Surgery Course at the Singapore Orthopaedic Association annual scientic meeting. His HMDP training at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School centered around performing high denition MRI scans of the spine and  joints (patients included Boston Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots American football players), as well as postoperative implant imaging. He also perform diagnostic injections for patients with spine, foot and ankle disorders (metatarsalgias, tendinopathies, and impingement syndromes), as part of a multidisciplinary team. His email address is [email protected] Dr Kenneth Sheah New Consultant Radiologist:  New Doctors We are pleased to inform you that Dr Shahid Mahmood has joined us from 1st May 2008 as Clinical Director, Singapore PET and Cardiac Imaging Centre. Prior to this he was Clinical Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET Centre at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. After graduation, he had his initial training in Cardiology, followed by Nuclear Medicine training in the UK, where he obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in Nuclear Medicine. He is a Fellow of Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Nuclear Medicine), and American College of Cardiology. Dr Shahid has an extensive clinical, academic and research experience in Nuclear Medicine and non-invasive Cardiac Imaging. His areas of interest are hybrid and non-invasive cardiac imaging. He has a few book chapters and various research papers in peer review journals. He also serves on the editorial board and committees of various international journals. Dr Shahid Mahmood is one of the pioneers of hybrid imaging and established not only PET-CT imaging, but also SPECT-CT in the region. He has also been a subject expert with International Atomic Energy Agency since 1995 and completed numerous assignments successfully. He has been Chairman of Cardiac Imaging Committee of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology and an advisor to the Asian Society of Cardiac Imaging. Cyclotron Sneak Preview: Gentler, Softer Mammogram  We take pride in making our patients as comfortable as possible when they come for their mammograms. Since October 2008, we have been using “Woman’s Touch MammoPad”. Basically, this is a foam cushion placed between the breast and the metal plate. This mammopad is complementary when patients have their mammograms at RadLink Paragon branch. Our Cyclotron is currently under construction. This facility is scheduled to produce advance radiopharmaceutical s starting in Q1 2009. Please watch this space for further updates. 2 New Service  64-Slice PET/CT service 3-4 Our Clinic Diagnostic injections of the foot and ankle A diagnostic injection often aids in localizing the source of symptoms and provides short term relief. 5 New Doctors • Dr Kenneth Sheah, Consultant Radiologist  • Dr Shahid Mahmood, Consultant Nuclear Physician 6 The Back Page • Cyclotron Sneak Preview • Gentler, Softer Mammogram Contents For more information, please go to www.molecularim aging.com.sg or call our centre at 6836 1318 • Rubidium-82 PET/CT for myocardial perfusion — When compared to conventional SPECT imaging, PET/CT using Rubidium- 82 coupled with a 64-slice CT scanner is a faster, easier, and more accurate method to measure myocardial blood ow. • Gallium-68 PET/CT for neuro-endocrine tumours —Neuro-endocrine tumors (NET) are a heterogeneous group of tumours that originate from the neural crest. These tumors are characterized by their ability to overexpress somatostatin (SST) receptors. PET imaging using Gallium-68 (Ga-68) labeled compound-DOTAT ATE offers higher resolution and improved pharmacokinetics, with promising results in the detec tion of SST receptor-expressing tumors. This is combined with contrast enhanced multi detector CT images. • General Nuclear Medicine scans—Nuclear Medicine can diagnose different type of diseases. It can be used to identify abnormal lesions deep in the body without exploratory surgery. The procedures can also determine whether or not certain organs are functioning normally. Our centre provides conventional nuclear medicine scans such as bone scans, liver scan, MIBI scans, thyroid scans and other nuclear medicine scans. FDG-PET scan is NOW S$2000 Please call our centre at 6836 1318 for more details (excludesGST)
