2010 Mud Hens Radio/TelevisionWCWA 1230 AM will enter their third season as the flagship station for all 144 ToledoMud Hens games in 2010. WFOB 1430 AM in Fostoria will carry 36 games during the2010 season as well. All games can also be heard online at www.mudhens.com.

For the 7th straight season, BCSN will serve as the television home of the Toledo MudHens. All 72 home games will be televised. The complete television schedule can be foundon page 180. Gilhooley enters his 24rd consecutive year with the Toledo Mud Hens. A legend in Toledobroadcasting, he has over 50 years of experience in television and radio.

Gilhooley previously served as the sports director at WTVG-TV 13 along withannouncing several Ohio State football games. He also has the distinction of playing forthe legendary Toledo Jeeps, when Gilhooley traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters fortwo years as a member of the opposing team.

A native of Toledo, Gilhooley and his wife Lydia reside in Sylvania. He played bothbaseball and basketball at the University of Notre Dame. Gilhooley’s father, Frank Sr.,played with the New York Yankees from 1913-18 and was a teammate of legendary sluggerBabe Ruth in Boston.

Weber enters his 36th season with the Toledo Mud Hens, the longest current tenure of anyannouncer in the International League. He began his distinguished radio career in 1969,announcing high school football and basketball games.

He has covered Bowling Green State University football and basketball events, along withappearing regularly on radio and television talk shows throughout the InternationalLeague. Weber also has had the honor of announcing two Triple-A All-Star Games (LasVegas-1990 and Toledo-2006) which were heard on over 100 U.S. stations and on ArmedForces radio.

A native of Toledo, Weber resides in Perrysburg with his wife Kay. They have twodaughters, Christine and Mary, and two grandchildren (Meredith & Ryan).

Griffin enters his 11th season with the Mud Hens as Director of Public/Media Relationsalong with play-by-play duties on both radio and television.

Griffin has 19 years of radio & television experience, most recently serving as the play-by-play voice of the Toledo Storm hockey team (ECHL) from 1998-2000. Prior to that,Griffin worked in Chicago at the “Score” sports radio as a producer and talk show host.While at the Score, he covered the 1997 World Series (Cleveland/Florida), the 1997 NBAAll-Star Game, and the 1997 MLB All-Star Game.

Griffin earned a degeree in Broadcast Journalism from Miami (OH) University in 1995.He lives in Ottawa Hills with his wife Jennifer and two sons (Hank & Eddie).

Bill Clark enters his 3rd season with the Mud Hens as host of the pre-game and post-gameshows for every home radio broadcast.

Clark is a 1971 graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School. Since 1993, Bill has broadcasthigh school games on Fox Sports Radio 1230 WCWA.

Bill had the privilege of doing the play-by-play for the Michigan Wolverine’s trips to the2004 Post-Season NIT and the 04-05 Pre-Season NIT at Madison Square Garden.

Bill has also worked for the Michigan State Basketball network. This past January, he didthe national radio play-by-play of the 2010 International Bowl from Toronto. Since 2008,he has been the studio host for UT Rocket football and basketball games on the RocketRadio Network. He also does games for BCSN.

Bill and his wife Carol live in Holland and have 3 married children & 5 grandchildren.

Matt Melzak (TV Play-by-Play)

Matt Melzak will join the Toledo Mud Hens televisionbroadcast team for the 2010 season following his duties as leadbroadcaster with the Toledo Walleye hockey team.

Matt was the Director of Communications and the voice ofthe Toledo Storm from 2003-2007. In 2006, Matt wasselected as a member of the ECHL All-Star Game broadcast team.

A native of Toledo, 33-year-old Melzak has called over 400 hockey games at differentlevels, including a full season as the voice of Bowling Green State University Hockey. Hehas also worked for BCSN since its inception calling football, baseball, and hockeytelecasts. Matt has also worked for ESPN 106.5 the Ticket, and 94.5 WXKR.

Matt graduated from Toledo St. Francis High School in 1994 and the University of Toledoin 1999. Matt is single and lives in Toledo.

Player Limits - The maximum number of players on the active list of a Class AAA Clubshall be 24. Major League rehab players do not count against the roster.

Qualifying Marks - To qualify for the batting championship, a player must have aminimum of 394 plate appearances. To qualify for earned run average leadership, a pitchermust have at least 117 innings pitched.

Determining Batting Average - Divide the number of at bats into the numbers of hits.

Determining an Earned Run Average - Multiply the number of earned runs by nine,take that number and divide it by the number of innings pitched.

Determining a Save - A pitcher is credited with a save when he meets all three of thefollowing conditions:1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team.2) He is not the winning pitcher.3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions: a) he enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches at least one inning,or, (b) he enters the game with the potential tying run either on base, at bat, or on deck, or,(c) he pitches effectively for at least three innings.

Determining Slugging Percentage - Divide the total bases of all safe hits by the totaltimes at bat (at bats do not include walks, sacrifices, times awarded first base on interferenceor obstruction, or hit by a pitch).

Determining On-Base Percentage - Divide hits plus total walks plus hit by pitch by atbats plus total walks plus hit by pitch and sacrifice flies. (Times awarded first base oninterference or obstruction are not figured into on base percentage.)

Determining Fielding Average - Divide the total putouts and assists by the total putouts,assists and errors.

Determining the Magic Number - Determine the number of games to be played by thefirst place club, add one, then subtract the number of games ahead in the loss column of thestandings from the closest opponent.

Determining Day or Night Games - Any game scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. or afterwill be considered a night game. If a game is scheduled to begin before 6:00 p.m., and isdelayed by rain or any other reason, it will be considered a day game. However both gamesof a twi-night doubleheader will be considered a day game. When afternoon and nightgames are played on the same date and separated admission are charged, they will be countedas one day game and one night game and will not be included in doubleheader statistics.

Determining Rookie Status At the Major League Level - Not more than 130 at-batsor 50 innings pitched in the major leagues during a previous season or seasons, nor morethan 45 days on a major league roster during the 25 player limit (excluding time in themilitary service).

Consecutive Game Hitting Streak - A consecutive game hitting streak shall not beterminated if the players plate appearances (one or more) result in a base on balls, hitbatsman, defensive interference or sacrifice bunt. The streak shall be terminated if the playerhas a sacrifice fly and no hit.

Consecutive Game Playing Streak - A consecutive game playing streak shall beextended if the player plays one- half inning on defense, of if he completes a time at bat byreaching base or being putout. A pinch running appearance shall not extend the streak. If theplayer is ejected from the game by an umpire before he can comply with the requirements ofthis rule, his streak shall continue.

Determining a “Major League Year”- 172 days constitute a full year in the majorleagues.
