Radio Script Duration: 60 seconds Client: Rosamond Gifford Zoo Jackie Soldano “Queen of Show and Tell” FEMALE VOICE OVER: (the voice is that of a precocious young girl) Courtney Baker is the Queen of Show and Tell. The time I lost a tooth and the tooth fairy gave me a dollar? Well, Courtney lost a molar, and she got five bucks. Five! The time I got my goldfish, Percival? Courtney’s dog had puppies. Percival didn’t stand a chance. (slight pause, girl’s tone goes from frustrated to determined) But the Queen of Show and Tell is about to be dethroned. Yesterday my mom took me to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, and I got to pet an elephant. A real live elephant, people! He was big and gray and wrinkly and total show-and-tell gold. And I got to see tigers, too! And wolves! And a spectacled bear! He wasn’t wearing any spectacles, though. And tamarinds! They’re these cute little monkeys with gold fur and scrunched-up faces. And Thorold’s white-lipped deer! I don’t know who Thorold is, but his deer are pretty awesome. And I learned some cool stuff too. Did you know that you can hear a lion’s roar from five miles away? I bet Courtney Baker doesn’t know that. SFX: (school bell rings) FEMALE VOICE OVER: Oh, I’ve gotta go, class is starting. But don’t worry, I’ve got this in the bag. There’s a new Queen of Show and Tell in town. And she pet an elephant at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
