2.1 Ratio of Successful RRC Connection Establishment

Index No.: 300020

Index Name

Ratio of Successful RRC Connection Establishment

Object Type: RNC cellIndex Description

Success rate of RRC connections in a specific cell

Application

This index indicates the probability of successful RRC connection in the cell. It partly reflects users' satisfaction when they register a UE and initiate a service in the cell. All counters involved in the numerator and denominator of the formula count the causes in the "Establishment Cause" information element in the "RRC Connection Request" message. The numerator is the number of successful RRC connections, and the denominator is the number of RRC connection attempts. The RRC connection requests re-transmitted by the same UE are deducted from the denominator.

Index Type: KPIData Type: PercentageFormula Description

SUM (Cell data. Number of successful RRC connections to air interface (counted by establishment cause). All measurement subitems of establishment causes) / (SUM (Cell data. Number of RRC connection requests (counted by establishment cause). All measurement subitems of establishment causes) - SUM (Cell data. Number of RRC connection requests (counted by establishment cause). All repeatedly-initiated measurement subitems of establishment causes))

Success rate of service-related RRC connections in a specific cell

Application

This index indicates the probability of successful service-related RRC connection in the cell. It partly reflects users' satisfaction when they initiate a service in the cell. All counters involved in the numerator and denominator of the formula count the service-related establishment causes in the "Establishment Cause" information element in the "RRC Connection Request" message. These causes include originating conversational call, originating streaming call, originating interactive call, originating background call, terminating conversational call, terminating streaming call, terminating interactive call, and terminating background call. The numerator is the number of successful RRC connections, and the denominator is the number of RRC connection attempts. The RRC connection requests re-transmitted by the same UE are deducted from the denominator.

Application

The index helps to get information about the probability of call drops when the UE is performing CS services within the specific cell. It also reflects the reception performance that the user is performing services within the specific cell. Call drop within the RNC refers to that the RNC initiates to release RAB due to improper causes. The formula below calculates the ratio of call drops due to improper causes. Causes of proper release includes user inactivity, signaling connection release generated by the UE, O&M intervention, overload control, and RAB preemption.

4.3 Ratio of PS Call Drop

Index No.: 300294

Index Name: Ratio of PS Call Drop

Object Type: RNC cell

Index Description

Call drop rate of PS-domain services in a specific cell

Application

This index indicates the probability of call drop of the PS-domain service in a specific cell. It partly reflects users' satisfaction when they initiate a service in the cell. The call drop in an RNC refers to the RAB release initiated by the RNC due to exceptional reasons. The formula is to calculate the call drop rate resulting from exceptional reasons. Normal reasons include: 1) UE inactivity; 2) UE signaling connection release; 3) operation and maintenance intervention; 4) releases caused by overload control; and 5) RAB preemption. Other reasons are deemed exceptional.

Index Type: KPI

4.4 Ratio of PS-HSDPA Call Drop

Index No.: 300330

Index Name: Ratio of PS-HSDPA Call Drop

Object Type: Cell

Index Description

The index is used to describe the ratio of PS HSDPA call drops within the specific cell.

Application

The index helps to get information about the probability of call drops when the UE is performing PS-HSDPA services within the specific cell.

Index Type: KPI

Data Type: Percentage

Formula Description
