We are to busy doing things and haveforgotten to just BE. We are beings having ahuman experience. We should call ourselvesbeing humans instead of human beings.

I am going to share information given to meBy Donna Eden in workshops and from herbook Energy Medicine.

What follow are excerpts from her bookEnergy Medicine.

Opposed of triple warmer that are your innermilitia the Energies of Joy are your innermom. They support, inspire strengthen andcajole all your organs and energy systems tofunctions as a tightly knit family. They areadvance men, ensuring that all systems willwork for the common good, redistributingenergies to where they are most needed, andpreparing the way for a coordinated responseto any happenstance the body encounter.

The strange Flows are Psychic Circuits. If welook through the lens of evolution the strangeflows have probably been around much longerthan meridians. She bases this fact that aremore primitive organisms as insects and fewamphibians, she has examined, where shesees strange flows but not meridians. Theypresumably existed prior to the moreaggressive defensive strategies of triplewarmer.

The central and govern meridians are probablythe evolutionary link between the radiant

circuits and the meridians. They jump theircourse like strange flows but are moreefficient because they have establishedpathways like meridians.

They are ten Energies of Joy: The belt flow, penetrating flow, left and right bridge flows, left and right regulator flows and the fourmeridians central, govern, spleen, triplewarmer that double as strange flows.

    The Individual Radiant Circuits

Why do we need to know about the specificradiant circuits when we can just stick ourbutts in the air and activate all of them? Youcan bolster the overall radiant system bystrengthening its weakest links. In addition, individual radiant circuits, have, overevolutionary time, taken specific roles andthey serve different functions. So you canbring about changes in habits that areentrenched not only in the psyche but also inthe body by focusing on and strengthening theaction of specific radiant circuits. Thelocations of each of the radiant circuits in theirdormant state are shown in Figures 1 through7 (these charts differ somewhat from thetraditional renditions based on how the firstauthor sees the radiant circuits) their basicfunctions follow.

The Yin and Yang RegulatorCircuits (Figure 1) The front (yin) andback (yang) regulators circuits influencehormones, chemistry, and circulation aswell as the connections among all the

systems in the body. They help your bodyadapt to endless assaults of internal andexternal changes. Hormonal imbalancesand the emotional turmoil that may followcan be addressed by working with theregulator circuits. They also establishharmonies with other people and withinthe environment.

The Yin and Yang Bridge Circuits(Figure 2). The front and back bridgecircuit connect the front and back of thebody as well as the body's energeticpolarities: positive and negative charges, receptive and forceful impulses, male andfemale qualities, yin and yang influences.Where an energy is stuck, they bridgeacross to its polarity and get the systemback into flow. Inner schisms-alienationof body and mind, head. and heart, loveand sex-may be addressed by workingwith the bridge circuits. In the outerworld, where regulating channels supportharmony between people, the bridgecircuits support the exchange ofinformation, particularly the accuracy ofintuitions about others

The Belt Circuit (Figure 3). The beltcircuit surrounds the waist. It connects theenergies of the top part of the body and thebottom part of the body. Distributing theenergies up and down is the criticalphysical health task of the belt circuit. Italso helps all of the meridians to move inharmony and orchestrates the charkas.Psychologically and spiritually, the beltcircuit is involved with how grounded weare and how inspired we are; howgrounded we can stay reaching to ourspiritual heights, and how high we canreach while staying grounded. Muchhuman folly and suffering is a reflection ofimpairment that keeps us energetically top-heavy or bottom-heavy.

The Penetrating Flow (Figure 4). Ifthe bridge and belt circuits connect yourfront and back and up and down energies, the penetrating flow brings energy to yourinner depths. When moving freely, itpenetrates into charkas, the muscles, thebones, the genitals, and deep into thecells. In the embryo, according to bothtraditional Chinese and Japanese medicine,

    - 13 -

the penetrating flow is said to carry theenergies of the ancestors and to setstrength of the person's basic energeticconstitution. You know this energy in theflowing warmth of an orgasm, and whenand orgasm opens into spiritualexperience, it is as if you are the recipientof the penetrating energies of the universe. That is how your cells must feel whenthey are reached by your penetrating flow. When people feel depressed or emptyinside, it is often because the penetratingflow is weak or blocked. To activate thepenetrating flows is to connect with andenergy that brings a deep sense of purposeand meaning.

Central and Governing (Figure 5).Four of the body's radiant circuits are alsomeridians. They carry radiant energy andare capable of instantly moving this energyto anywhere it is needed. But unlike theother radiant circuits their energy is alsotransported along fixed pathway andaccessible through points on the surface ofthe skin that show decreased electricalresistance, called acupuncture points.Central meridian's pathway flows up thefront center of the body, feeding energy tothe brain. Governing meridian's pathwayflows up the back center of the body, feeding energy to the spine and much ofthe nervous system. The two meridiansmeet at the back of the throat, creating asingle force field, and this is where theybegin to behave like radiant circuits. Thatforce field radiates outwardly, bringingstrength and vitality to the meridians, thecharkas and the aura. When a person isfilled with confusion or self-doubt,activating central and governing can pullthe cerebrospinal fluid up to the brain andcalm the nervous system, eliciting clarityand confidence. When a person is over-sensitive to other people or the energies inthe environment, activating central andgoverning often lends protection bystrengthening the aura.

Spleen and Triple Stimulator(Figures 6 and 7). The two other radiantcircuits that carry the properties ofmeridians are also paired polarities-tIiplestimulator and spleen. Triple stimulator's

  • Touch for Health Kinesiolo~ Association Journal (2003)

fixed pathway goes directly from the backbrain to the front brain. The back brain isprimal, carrying the survival strategies ofmillions of years of evolution. Triplestimulator feeds the back brain whilemoving primal survival information intofront brain. It can conscript energy fromother meridian (except heart) to insure thebody's survival. This is a very seriousassignment, and triple stimulator is thesingle radiant circuit whose "personality"is more like a general in combat than anupbeat mom. Meanwhile, the mother ofupbeat mom energy, the spleenmeridian/radiant circuit, radiates the lifeforce itself. Running through thepancreas, which metabolizes carbo-hydrates and sugars, this is the energysystem that metabolizes thought, experience and emotion, as well as food.Spleen energy, in fact, resonates with andmetabolizes all the other energies of thebody, bringing them into harmony withone another. Together spleen and triplestimulator govern the immune systemthrough an interplay of military and familyvalues, and when you can keep theirenergies in balance, they become apowerful team for keeping your life inbalance.

Even though various works (including thisone) provide charts for the location of theradiant circuits, these are ultimatelymisleading. The radiant energies do indeedconcentrate on specific lines along the body, but that is while they are relatively dormant. When they are active-and that is where theaction is-they may go anywhere, and theirpaths cannot be reliably charted. Severalbooks also attempt to "connect dots", showingwhich points to hold to activate the radiantcircuits. While this can turn on the radiantcircuits, linear formulas tend to go against theflow of this energy. Still, a value of the chartsis that if you hold one of the points identifiedas an "anchor point" and then intuitively touchother points on the chart, you "hyperlink" theenergies between the points, strengthening thecircuit it can begin to radiate. I call this"anchor and wander". Instead of directing theflows by following some hypothesized linearpattern, using your intuition in a dance withthat energy beckons it on its own terms.

    Checking and Correctingthe Radiant Circuits

With the specific benefits of each of theradiant circuits being so central to enjoymentof life, you might be tempted to work with allof them, and we do feel that knowledge ofhow to activate the entire radiant energysystem should be part of everyone'seducation. But it is also valuable to knowwhich are the weakest links and how tostrengthen them. You may already recognizefrom reading the above descriptions whichcircuits are not operating optimally for you,and you can verify this and investigate furtherwith other energy tests.

When you suspect that working with thespecific radiant energies may be helpful, youcan energy test which ones might needattention. To do the test, you will need apartner. Select an indicator muscle (see Eden,1998 Chapter 2), check for a strong baseline, and then use the following instructions.Following each of the test instructions aretechniques for activating that particular radiantcircuit. You can do many of the activatingtechniques without a partner although, particularly for the techniques requiring thatpoint be held, when someone else is holdingthe points for you, your body relaxes and youcan receive more deeply.

Checking the Regulator Circuits. For the yin regulator circuit place yourthumb at the bottom of the chin bone andthe finger of the other hand in the hollowat the base of the front of the neck. Pullthe fingers of one hand upward and theother downward, stretching the skin overthe front of the neck. Energy check beforeand after. For the yang regulator circuit, pinch the backs of both heels (belowAchilles tendon). Energy check before andafter.

Activating the Regulator Circuits. If either regulator circuit tests weak, rubyour hands together; place them on thehead and, touching the body, slowlysmooth over the shoulders and down thearm. Return to the throat area under thechin and smooth the energy 'down thesides of the body with your full hand. Asyou come off the ankles, pass your hands

    - 14 -

  • Touch for Health Kinesiolo&l:, Association Journal (2003)

over the top of each foot, squeeze thesides of the feet, and then firmly pull theenergies off of them. Make at least twopasses. Another technique for activatingthe regulator circuits is to lie face up whilea partner stands at the ends of your feetand places his or her thumbs at the bottomof the ball of each foot between the big toeand second toe (Wellspring of LifePoints), gradually pressing in and holdingfor about 10 to 15 seconds. Then wrap thehands around the top of the feet, pullingthem back, with the thumbs still on thesame points and gradually releasing thepressure. It is a wavelike movement andcan be repeated several times.

With this and each of the subsequentradiant circuits, if the initial energy checkshowed a weakness, repeat the test aftercompleting the treatment. If the circuit hasnot corrected or the correction does nothold over time apply "anchor andwander?" technique (see below) or "trace"the circuit. Find the figure for the circuityou wish to trace and, with the slow fullcontact of yours or your partner's handfollow the solid lines in the diagram, generally moving from top to bottom.

Checking the Yin Bridge (front of thebody). Place the middle fingers of eachhand between your breasts (at top ofthymus) and draw a "heart" by circlingyour hands up and then around each breast(it is not necessary to touch the body),meeting just below the sternum. Energycheck before and after.

Activating the Yin Bridge. Beginwith the same heart motion as used in thetest. Repeat three times, and then whenyour hands meet at the sternum after thethird go straight down the front of thebody very deliberately, continue down thelegs, moving toward the inside andwrapping your fingers underneath yourfeet. Pull your body up and away, stretching your arms. You will feel astretch in your back. Another good way toactivate the Yin Bridge is to sidewaysfigure 8 movements over the face and thendown the front of the trunk of the body. The movements extend across the width ofthe body, making 8s that are about 4

    - 15 -

inches tall. and weaving them down to thebottom of the body.

Checking the Yang Bridge (back ofthe body). Stand behind the person andwith the fingers of either hand, tap on theouter edge of the person's left shoulder.Rapidly tap three more points: the outeredge of the right shoulder, the outer eachof the left hipbone, and then of the righthipbone. These four quick taps form a"Z". A strong energy check indicates thatenergies are bridging between the left andright sides of the back.

Activating the Yang Bridge. Dosideways figure 8 movements on the backof the head and then down the back of thetrunk of the body. The movements extendacross the width of the body, making 8' sthat area bout 4 inches tall, and weavingthem down to the bottom of the body.

Checking the Belt Circuit. Place thewebbed area between the pointer fingerand the thumb of either hand around thewaist on either side of the body. Energycheck before and after.

Activating the Belt Circuit. Withfingers spread, circle the hands around theside of the body at waist. Pull from theback of the body to the front and all theway across the belly and to the other side.Pull not only at the waist, but above andbelow as well. Do this several times withsome pressure and lifting movement, alternating hands. Then firmly slide bothhands down the leg on the side you arepulling toward and off the foot. Repeat onthe other side of the body. With a littleimprovisation, you can do this one onyourself, and it is a wonderful one to dooften to keep your top and bottom halvesin harmony. Another belt circuit techniquealso stimulates the penetrating flow and isparticularly effective if the energy is cutoff at the top of the legs. Have the clientlie face-up and place either foot againstyour stomach. Reach for both the client'shands so you can pull away from oneanother. Hold this stretch for about 10seconds. Repeat using the other foot.

  • Touch for Health Kinesiolon Association Journal (2003)

Checking the Penetrating Flow(done while sitting or standing). Byplacing the thumb of one hand on yournavel, the fingers and palm rest on thesecond charka. Raise the thumb, fingers, and hand at the wrist. Gently and slowlylower your hand one segment at a time, until the hand is flat. Continue arounduntil the fingers point down and finally liftoff. With the other hand, simultaneouslyor immediately following, do the samemotion on the back, directly opposite thefirst hand. Energy check before and after.

Activating the Penetrating Flow.Masturbate. If this is not convenient, layon your back and cross your feet at theankles, bending your legs at the knees.Wrap your right hand around your leftfoot and your left hand around your lightfoot. Pull your feet above your head, keeping your arms straight, and rock soyour butt comes off the ground. Continuefor at least a minute. If a partner isavailable, have the client lie face down, place one hand on the sacrum, the other atthe top of the back, and rock the personfor 3 to 5 minutes. When completed, liftboth hands simultaneously and let theperson bask in the feelings for anotherminute. This activates governing as wellas penetrating flow.

Checking Central and Governing:Push in on ("smash") the nose for about asecond. Energy check before and after. This determines if the energies that run upthe front center of the body and throughthe charkas are connecting with theenergies that run up the spinal column. When these energies connect, they create aresilient force field.

Activating Central and Governing.First do a front "hook-up" by placing themiddle finger of one hand into the naveland the other hand at the third eye point.Push in both fingers and pull them upwardtoward head. Hold for a couple ofminutes. The back "hook-up" requires apartner. Lay face down. Partner placespalm of one hand on your spine in themiddle of your back, with fingers pointingtoward your feet. The other hand points inthe opposite direction. The hands cross at

the wrists so that as they push apart, thespine is stretched. Continue to move thehands in opposite directions until themiddle finger of the hand facing upwardreaches the indent at the top of the neckand the middle finger of the other handreaches the sacrum. Hold for a at least 15seconds. Energy test before and after.

Testing Spleen: Rather than using thegeneral indicator test, check the spleenmeridian directly. With the client's armhanging straight down the side of thebody, thumb next to the legs, and palmfacing back, the tester places two or threefingers above the wrist between the armand the body, and pulls straight out, awayfrom the body, for about one and one-halfseconds.

Activating Spleen: Do the "spleen tap"by bunching the thumb, second and thirdfingers and tapping at the point on thebottom of the breast (one rib below the braline on a woman) at the side of the ridgecage. Tap both sides simultaneously for15 to 30 seconds. Alternatively, hold theacupuncture strengthening points forspleen (see Eden 1998 pp 118- 120)

Checking Triple Stimulator: Cupeither hand slightly with the fingers spreadaround the ears, fingers about an inchabove and behind the ear. Energy checkbefore and after.

Activating Triple Stimulator. Don't.It is probably already over-activated byvirtue of the culture in which you live. Theneed is to reprogram it so its energies willbe available when there is a real threat, whether to your hea1th, your safety, oryour state of mind. If the test showed aweakness, triple stimulator needs to beharmonized. Place one hand on theperson's forehead and the other hand onand above the navel (over the solarplexus). Hold for a minute or two.Alternatively, hold the acupuncturesedating points for triple stimulator ( seeEden, 1998, pp. 122).

Anchor and Wander. If you have not beenable to activate a specific radiant circuit withthe methods presented above, or if one

    - 16 -

  • Touch for Health Kinesiolo.8l Association Journal (2003)

continues over time to test as weak link, usethe "anchor and wander" technique. It requiresmore intuition and will take longer, but it is apowerful method for repairing the weakestlinks. Find the diagram for the radiant circuityou want to work with and choose one of its"anchor points" (for points that are pairedright and left, the diagrams identify only oneside, but either side can be used). Whenpossible cross over so you "wander" to apoint that is on the opposite side from theanchor point. Place the fingers of one hand onthe anchor point and intuit which of theremaining points on the diagram draws yourother hand to it. Tapping that point sends apulse. If you hold the point, your fingerscreate an electromagnetic charge between thatpoint and the anchor point, jump-starting theflow of the radiant energies. The length oftime you need to hold is, again, determined byyour intuition, but the average is 3 to 5minutes. Holding positive images or statingpositive affirmations (e.g., "I am being filledwith joy", or gratitude, or peace, or love; "Myheart is opening") can amplify the benefits. Asyour intuition becomes more attuned to theradiant energies, you can rely less on thecharts. Simply sense which points to hold, and you will find that sometimes the bestpoints for a given individual at a givenmoment are not the ones identified on thechart.
