I remember the day I realized interior design was a real career; when that brilliant light bulb moment happened, I knew that was what I wanted to do and be. I have taken so many life lessons from those childhood summers with my father, but the main lesson was to always take pride in your work, and most importantly hard work will always lead to your dreams.

The lobby of the Crosstown Design Center will be a manifestation of the philosophy of design it represents. The customers will feel a sense of awe as they enter the space. Design professionals will be inspired by its many subtle but intricate details of its interior architecture. This space will stimulate the design students’ creativity, as well as spark a true passion for their future profession.
It is a fusion of the past and present by uniting the elegant features of the Art Deco style with the simplifi ed appearance of Modern design. The main focal point of the space will be sculptural with curvilinear lines that emphasize the verticality of the grand three story lobby. The design will honor the existing symmetrical rhythm of the colonnade, with careful wall and sculptural placement.
The interior will radiate with lavish, modern illumination refl ecting onto metallic, lustrous surfaces and materials. The color proposal for these gleaming materials will consist of neutrals, as to not combat with showroom product display.
Theatrical lighting will enhance these neutral surfaces by adding strong value to create a chiaroscuro affect. Patterning, along with, actual and implie texture, with the same color scheme, will create rhythm to unify the past with the present.
