Know the story of Rabbi Akiva in detail. 2. Understand that it is never too late to learn new things. I can SC-1) draw a map of the places where R’ Akiva was. SC-2) add explanations to each part of my map to say what R’ Akiva was doing. OR SC-2) write a chronological report of the events in R’ Akiva’s life. SC-3) explain why it is never too late to learn new things using the story of R’ Akiva as an example. Intro (Heb date on board) Y (SC-3) Two qs on board to discuss in talk partners. 1) Age to learn Alef bet. 2) Why we learn Hebrew. Ch write answers on whiteboards. Emphasise that he was 40 when he started learning and he still managed to become a great rabbi because he put a lot of effort into it. Review LO’s/SC’s thumbs up for those achieved. Y Mini Plenary – Use visualiser (or iPad with AirServer) to look at some of the children’s work and discuss whether they have achieved the SCs. Y (SC-3) Go back to qs from the beginning. Have we changed our answers now we know about R’ Akiva? Ch to discuss in talk partners. Feedback. Compare answers with those previously given. Y (SC-3) In pairs ch discuss questions on the board. Plenary Y (SC-3) Ch to turn to another person on their table and present their answers to the questions. One person from each table presents to class.
