Full form of orcad

OrCAD stands for Oregon Cadence Design Systems. OrCAD is a software tool that creates automated electronic designs. Full forms of the OrCAD software include Capture CIS, OrCAD PCB Editor, and PSpice.

TECHNOLOGY USED:ORCAD is a proprietary software tool suite

used primarily for electronic designs. The software is used mainly by electronic design engineers and electronic technicians to create electronic schematics and electronic prints for manufacturing of printed circuit boards and this software's origins from :

ORegon + CAD.

Page 4: ra ppt.pptx

WHY ORCAD ? Provides fast schematic editing. Use in most of the industries and circuit

designers. Libraries and components are easily

accessible. OrCAD PCB Editor 3-D Footprint

Viewer. Auto-Wiring

PARTS OF ORCAD

The major parts of the ORCAD product are:

1) CAPTURE CIS2) ORCAD PCB EDITOR3) PSPICE4) Layout

CAPTURE CIS

What is a schematic?–The board schematic is the logical

representation of the physical implementation.

Orcad Capture CIS(Component Information System) is a software tool used for circuit schematic capture.

CREATE PROJECT IN CAPTURE

Open Orcad Capture Under FILE, choose NEW, PROJECT The following box should appear… Choose where you will save it and what you will call it.Click OK

SELECT THE COMPONENT AS PER REQUIRED AND PLACED IN CAPTURE

The parts found in the library are listed here

Page 10: ra ppt.pptx

While we place parts, use the wire button to place wires.

It is found on the right-hand side toolbar.

Make sure that have good connections.

Migrating to Layout1. Select the main design in the design window (the .dsn file)2. Select Tools->Create Netlist3. Select the Layout Tab 4. Check “Run ECO to Layout”5. Select OK6. Open ORCAD Layout

8. Select File->NewOpen the default technology (or a custom one)

9. Open the netlist created in ORCAD Capture

10. Select a filename to save the file as

11. Select footprints for parts– If a footprint does not already exist, choose ANY part that has the

same number or more pins than your part. We will create the footprint later.

Page 15: ra ppt.pptx

Three Main Properties of Footprints

Dimensions–Units in English for Metric?Pad numbering–Like pins need to number pads, use data sheet to find the numbering.Geometry–What is the pattern of the pads in 2-D? It must match the datasheet.

WATER LEVEL CONTROLLER

The main advantage is that it provides an inexpensive way to automate the water pump set. It also consumes less manpower& saves electricity. The project can be further extended to incorporate microcontroller such that the entire work is done on a single chip for continuous.

Working• Switch 1 used for tap. • Switch 2 used for full level. • Switch 3 used for half level. • Switch 4 used for bottom

when the switch 1is on then tap is on water the motor will switch on to fill water in the tank. The LCD module will show ‘motor on. the microcontroller comes out of the tap condition and allows the motor to keep pushing water in the tank. The motor will remain ‘on’ until water reaches switch 2 Then it will stop automatically and the microcontroller will go into the standby mode. The LCD module will show motor off.when the switch 3 is on then it indicate half level switch 4 is on it indicate bottom level then motor is on . The LCD module will show tank is empty .motor is on.
