R-Biopharm news R-Biopharm – dedicated to food safety Food & Feed Analysis I/2019 The new test, RIDASCREEN® Nitrofuran (AMOZ) (Art. No. R3722) replaces the former RIDASCREEN® Nitrofuran (AMOZ) test kit (Art. No. R3711). The new test kit benefits from increased sensitivity and therefore an improved limit of detection and a faster test implementation. The established 5-in-1 sample preparation of shrimp (one sample preparation for the nitrofurans AHD, AMOZ, AOZ and SEM as well as chloramphenicol) was optimized. This test allows the reliable detection of the tissue bound metabolite AMOZ, a rapidly built metabolite from the parent compound furaltadone. Due to potential carcinogenic and mutagenic characteristics of nitrofurans, the application of these broad-spectrum antibiotics in animals used for food production was prohibited by the introduction of a zero-tolerance level. Non-compliance with this legislation may lead to severe penalties, e.g. during export. Our products
RIDA®QUICK Mycotoxin ECO line – update
With the next production lots of the successful RIDA®QUICK mycotoxin tests for fumonisin and T-2/HT-2 toxin, the products will be renamed by adding the suffix “ECO”.
The new product names are:RIDA®QUICK Fumonisin RQS ECO (Art. No. R5606)RIDA®QUICK T-2/HT-2 RQS ECO (Art. No. R5304)
For years, these tests provide a non-toxic aqueous buffer to extract the toxins from the sample. This makes the kits particularly interesting for cereal testing if one wants to avoid the use of organic solvents for extraction or does not have a license to work with these chemicals. To make this benefit more visible, the
tests are now renamed by adding the term “ECO” to the product names. This clearly defines them as part of the growing mycotoxin ECO line portfolio with aqueous extraction methods.
The updated and available validation reports show the very good correlation of test results in comparison with HPLC/LC-MS/MS. They now include data generated with the reliable and very cost-effective RIDA®SMART APP smartphone software, the innovative way of mycotoxin quantification.

Restructuring of the SureFast® Microbiology real-time PCR kitsAs part of a product optimization program, the SureFast® Microbiology real-time PCR kits will be restructured beginning in July 2019 as follows:
The taq polymerase volume will be increased from 0.1 µl to 0.7 µl per
reaction. This simplifies manual and automated pipetting.

The private organization “Verband Lebens-mittel ohne Gentechnik e.V. (VLOG” – Association Food without Genetic Engineering) offers licenses for the seal „Ohne GenTechnik“ to be used on food products that meet its standard and “VLOG geprüft” for animal nutri-tion. For laboratory analysis, VLOG requests a sample amount of 2 grams.
For this purpose, a new kit is launched, which allows in combination with either SureFood® PREP Basic (Art. No. S1052) or SureFood® PREP Advanced (Art. No. S1053), to use 2 g samples. The subse-quent DNA preparation and detection procedure stays the same. This addition-al kit, SureFood® PREP Add-On (Art. No. S1055) is suitable for 15 reactions.

In order to counter fraud and facilitate animal multiplex identification, R-Biopharm extended the ANIMAL ID screening series by SureFood® ANIMAL ID 4plex Camel/Horse/Donkey + IAAC
