$1000 DONATION

QI of Fort Lauderdale was most fortunate to receive a $1000 donation from anonymous friends of Quota to be used for our service projects. It could not have come at a better time. The next “Listen Up! Turn it Down” presentation will be to 138 students – 4 ½ times the number we estimated per class! We are so very grateful to these wonderful people for their generosity!

WE VOTED!

Our Sheila Morris is running for Regional Director of Region 8 in the new Quota organization. Club presidents have already received mail ballots, which must be received at QI headquarters before December 16, 2013. We sent our vote in as soon as it arrived!

JQ “PEEPS” BAKE SALE

On October 19th, the Jr. Quota “Peeps” held a bake sale in front of the Body & Soul Boutique at the Shoppes of Lighthouse Point. These Jr. Quotarians wanted to help fund QI of Fort Lauderdale’s “Listen Up! Turn it Down!” project and they did. In total, the girls raised $300 for the program and gave it to the club at the November meeting.

The “Peeps” have been learning the song “Turn it to the Left” and decided that they would help to pay for printing of the packages given to school children during the presentation of “Listen Up! Turn it Down!” They enlisted the assistance of their mothers and Fort Lauderdale club members and off they went.

DECEMBER 3RD MEETING

KIM BROSKY JEANNE JORDAN

IT WAS A “SUPER” SAM

From the very beginning South Area Director Vicki Miller entertained and inspired us with a variety of interactive events, informative sessions, and moving speakers. (Note: Vicki is running for the office of Quota International President-Elect.)

Highlights for QI of Fort Lauderdale were winning two SAMMIE Awards. Carole Hart won a Sammie for the best and most Facebook postings. Our club won a Sammie for its Jr. Quota club which is setting the bar for others.

Information about our last South Area Meeting (SAM), its events, ideas, and our future Quota organization is forthcoming in the club’s report of South Area Meeting.

SAND OR STONE

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who was slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.” They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning; but, the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone, “Today my best friend saved my life.” The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone, WHY?” The friend replied, “When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away; but, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”
