Can you feel it? Fall is finally here. Mornings are a little cooler and our monsoon weather seems to be over. With

the kids back in school there is time now for our projects.

More of us have decided to give homemade items for holiday gifts this year. Buying a new piece of fabric and

adding our stash is a smart way to use what we have and save. We have several new classes to inspire and show how

to do just that! We have a couple of stash breaker quilt classes as well as wristlets, art pieces and bags. We even

offer a couple of gift idea classes. We love when our customers bring in completed projects. It brings an

excitement to the shop and inspires all of us to want to jump in and join the class.

This is an eight- week program that will take you

from rotary cutting to a finished quilt in weekly two-

hour classes. You will learn the basics of rotary

cutting, accurate piecing of two simple blocks,

machine quilting, and binding your 39” x 48” size

quilt. In addition, we love to toss in tips and tricks

along the way. You must be comfortable using your

sewing machine and prepared to do the weekly

homework on your project. If you ever wanted to

make a quilt and had no idea where to start, we have

the perfect solution for you!

Fee: $90-plus $15 for handbook (collected at 1st class)

Beads of Courage is a program at Phoenix Children’s

Hospital that is for seriously ill children to help them

cope with all the scary things happening to them on a

daily basis. In this class we will be making the bags

that hold those precious artisan beads. Let’s see how

many bags we can make in one day!

Tea Party is a fun, quick and beginner-friendly quilt.

This quilt uses a jelly roll (or 2 ½” strips that you cut)

with a background fabric to create a truly quick and

beautiful quilt. There are almost no matching seams

so quilters can relax and just enjoy the time spent

making this quilt.

During the two sessions, you will get special cutting

instructions, work with the sewing technique used for

creating the blocks, and get lots of time to sew with

friends. We will cover the setting method the

pattern uses for the blocks and also cover an easy

binding method.

“Stack-n-Wack” 45-degree triangle tool. Transform

similar triangles into fabulous octagonal blocks.

Join us in making this pattern by well-known “Stack the Deck” designer Karla Alexander. This quilt features not only her “Stack the Deck” technique but also curved seams. This quilt can work for a variety of fabrics using a mix of lights and darks. Raid your stash, get some new favorites, or a bit of both.

The pattern instructions include information on creating the curves with or without the optional Curves for Squares Ruler by Creative Grids. Using the ruler means having the same precise curve for each square. The ruler is designed to be used for multiple block sizes giving you lots of future options. This quilt design is one that will have your friends giving you lots of compliments and would work well for a confident beginner or intermediate quilter. Fee: $25

This is the first quilt I ever tried to make and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. Heartland Stars originally started out as a “block of the month” project, but you get to do it in just 6 sessions! At each session you will learn techniques for creating each of the star blocks, get answers to any questions you may have, and enjoy time sewing with other quilters. This pattern works with all color themes from Red, White and Blue to Christmas colors-even batiks! By making just 4 stars in baby prints, you can create a charming baby quilt. Heartland Stars is easy enough for the confident beginner, yet has the variety of block styles that make it fun for more advanced quilters as well.

Be prepared to have a fun afternoon. We will be making a quilt

using just 9 fat quarters. Dawn will show you how to use

something as simple as a newspaper Sudoku puzzle for your

pattern. Learn how to successfully coordinate your fabric when

the placement of the fabric has been predetermined for you.

Carol will guide you step-by-step into the ABSOLUTE freedom of

free–motion quilting; meandering, echo, stippling and creating your

is optional to participate in and then learn a new

trick (technique). This is a fun class for all skill

Family Fun Night Tuesday
