QUILTERS’ CORNER NEWSLETTER AUTUMN 2014 9792 B BUSINESS PARK DRIVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95827 916-366-6136 website:quilterscornersac.com Summer is almost over and the 90 degree weather should be gone soon, which means things should slow down a bit before the holidays. Speaking of the holidays, Halloween is the next big time to make a decoration, pillows or a wall hanging. We have plenty of Halloween fabrics this year, just waiting to go into your next project. Sunday, October 5th, is OPEN HOUSE for signups for classes. We will have the teachers here for you to meet, and their projects to look at and discuss. An added treat will be kits and projects for those quick Halloween ideas. Before Halloween is gone it is time to do Christmas. If you start now, you should be able to fin- ish in time. The Christmas fabrics this year are fabulous. You can choose to go traditional, funky or subtle. We have collections to accomplish any of those choices. The retreat in Auburn is full for November and there is a waiting list, but, there is another scheduled for January 16 through 19th. It is a three day weekend so we will have an extra day to sew. Heads up: we are getting a double decker bus this year to accommodate all the people who want to go to Pacific International Quilt Show on Saturday, October 18, but it’s almost full. Check out the info in this newsletter about our Annual After Thanksgiving Sale. Do not forget the River City Quilt Show, November 14th –16th. We will have a booth with new quilt kits that are specially made for the show. We are overflowing with fabrics, as usual. Our batik collection is overflowing it’s shelves and we receive more every week. A new collection of Bali Pops and Snaps are due any day. They are coming in luscious colors named after flamboyant birds like parrots and hummingbirds that reflect fabulous colors of nature. From Moda, we are soon receiving the new French General Collection “Roe Indienne” inspired by botanical prints from India in the 18th century. The rich colors are filled with reds, blues and mustards from the Indian palette. The reds are due to the discovery of the garance plant, blue from Indigo and yellow obtained by using gaude. The prints are gorgeous paisleys and geometrics, supported by rich crème neutrals. Also from Moda, is the latest Laundry Basket Collection from Edyta. She is a master of combining 1800’s with batiks. The colors are warm earth tones with just a hint of Prussian blue and reds that reflect the colors of the earth. We have ordered every piece of both collections along with cut goods and numerous patterns. We have a new collection of Asian called Niwa, a fantastic large floral with accompanying butterfly co-ordinates and blue and coral tone on tones. It comes with a panel and a wonderful pattern that is free with purchase. Keep a look out for some special treats we will be sharing during December. We all deserve something fun that time of the year. We are looking forward to seeing you all in the store soon. Remember, we have a fantastic staff that will help you solve all your quilt related problems! Elaine, Pat, Carol, Pam, Dawn, Diane, Donna, Lindsay, Ellen, Patty, Debbie, Peggy, Diane, Jean, and Daun.
