Teachers should aspire to be excellent at their profession to make a real impact on a child’s future life. A few years ago, a study was conducted by Stanford University to find the correlation between the teachers’ excellence and the student success. They grouped people into two categories,1) those who were in the leadership position and 2) those who worked as subordinates.

A detailed inquiry into their basic education brought to light thedifference between being taught by extraordinary teachers and common teachers. Above 90 percentage of those from the leadership group had been taught by an excellent teacher while they were in 3rd or 4th standard while the other group missed this chance!

This study emphasizes the important role of teachers in molding younger generation to become future leaders. Ace is on a journey of building a professional community of high quality teachers.

Next, let me suggest a learning strategy which both the students and teachers can adopt. Acceleration method of learning can be practised by both the reluctant learners and the smart ones. A teacher can de-vote 5 minutes of a class to give a gist of the lesson to be handled the following day so that students can get a notion of the contentvocabulary and be prepared in advance for the lesson. This can bring all group of students on the main track to be on course.

24th December! Ever since the date was marked for a mega reunion gala of the Ace alumni, a myriad of pulsating emotions surged in flooding our minds. Here is a day to relive in the realm repeatedly conquered by the unrelenting nostalgia! Here is a moment to bask in the radi-ant blaze of refreshing cama-raderie! And here is an hour to feel the pangs of separation getting tranquilized by the mirth of returning!

This jocund gathering coming close on the heels of the 10th Foundation Day will accom-modate both the five batches of students who left Ace to feel an outer world, though longing to merge with Ace style, and the staff who rendered their service to excel in their chosen fields before being rewarded with career options abroad and in government services.

These teachers and students may have represented differ-ent periods and differed from one another when they ruled the roost but can display gems of Ace bonhomie as they come under its bower as alumni im-pregnated with the wisdom of age and experience bestowed on them.Consequently, this get together would offer its inmates vignette of experience to sa-vour, share, feel empowered and be rekindled with the flame of excellence that the school vows to ignite in its clan.Let more of such gatherings flourish in the years to come!A programme arranged on the

occasion of the 10th foundation day reminds us of an important figure who will shine effulgently in the collective conscience of Ace history, Muneera madam. A true leader leaves a trail of meaningful legacy behind. Understandably, her influence is vibrantly felt in the aura sur-rounding Ace with her voice for supreme quality reverberating in the Ace corridors. Even now, her name is whispered by her dear well-wishers sensing her invisible presence all around that guides and motivates them in moments of crisis. What a worthy disciple of our far sighted Chairman, Dr.K.AbdulRahiman, whose reassuring presence incessantly energizes us to instil in children the prerequisites of desirable social, emotional and intellectual skills!

Looking back, I cannot but express my extreme sense of indebtedness to the Ace Man-agement for offering this chance to associate myself with a gal-axy of high quality teachers. We grew up drawing inspiration from and complementing each oth-er’s success as the school rose gradually. There has always been one or other feature for us to emulate from colleagues. Naturally, our progress is a bit conditioned by observation. The impeccable mode of team spirit found in Ace was sustained by the supreme leadership skills unleashed by the chairman and Muneera Mam. In fact, identify-ing our strength, drilling it to its full potential and expanding our

horizon have been their forte. This has sprinkled in us the holy waters of self- efficacy and leadership traits. As a matter of fact, this practice of delegating duties by Muneera mam inci-dentally paved the way for roll-ing out to me the red carpet to assume the role of a Principal!Everything about Ace gives longing dreams: the Trust Members, the kids, the staff, the special days, the resource rooms. The Language Lab from which buds of Ace quills sprout, the Leads Room where the teachers shred out the slush of redundancy, the IT Lab that connects Ace to the world, the Grace Hall to show the anec-dotes of creativity, the school ground where the young ones are groomed in skills of physical prowess, the Libraries to ex-plore from, the Dining Hall, the staff room and the corridors can entice one’s nostalgia for Ace!

All that we see and feel here is what its Managing Trustee has envisioned. Compared to what lies ahead, the school has trodden only a step so far. May God equip its Trust led by Dr.AbdulRahiman, the school Chairman, with the inner power and wisdom to go a long way to fulfil its chosen mission!

I started my profession as a teacher at ACE in the year 2007. Teaching in ACE was challenging. I knew about students and teaching. My colleagues helped me to face chal-lenges, expand my perspective and to step out of my classroom fizz. My family too helped me to face challenges and have high expectations. My leaders the Chairman Dr. Abdulra-himan and Muneera mam constantly challenged me to reflect on my own teaching, take next steps, continuously improve and push myself out of the comfort zone. This is how I have mounted to the post of Vice principal of ACE Public school. There has never been a dull moment for me at ACE. The dynamic group of 51 teach-ers, their hard work keeps me always engaged. Lot of behavioural, academic, emotional and social challenges come to test our personal skills on a daily basis. But without these challenges, neither teachers and students nor I would have been able to create a safe place which allows for problem solving and critical thinking. So teaching in ACE and being a part of ACE is great --- because of the diversity in students, vibrant teachers, supportive non-teaching staff and interactive parents.

Never had I thought that I might become a teacher… But the thing is what the destiny has planned. Looking back, I see that I’ve learned a lot. I still re-member the day when I stepped into the ACE campus. The writ-ing on the wall read Ascend with Commitment for Excellence. Oh! This is what ACE means. Teachers who are new to this profession are concerned about developing their skills and gain-ing confidence. It was indeed a massive challenge for me too.As I stepped into the Principal’s cabin, a warm motivating smile welcomed me. I felt the power of courage strengthening me. I realized that the words ascend-ing, commitment and excel-lence are meant for anyone who steps into this campus. Muneera

Ascend with Commitment for Excellence

Mam, her motivation and sup-port, guided me to my new ca-reer which is now my passion. She is a great leader. She made me realize that Leadership is not about titles or positions; it is about one life influencing anoth-er. She is the one who awakened the teacher in me.A right boss instills in an organi-zation optimism and positive energy. The spirit of dedication radiated by the Chairman Dr. Ab-dul Rahiman energizes us in our work. He transforms pressure into productivity and skills into strengths. The emotional sup-port offered by him made me feel better about myself. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for identifying my skills and giving me a chance to prove my worth in ACE.

Being a language lab instructor I realized that I am improving along with my students. The supporting colleagues who al-ways helped me, the active stu-dents and the ambience in the lab shaped me to be fit for the teaching arena. Wherever I am after years, the lessons learnt from ACE will be my support and power. I am so lucky to be working in such a collaborative, accom-modating, and caring environ-ment. May God Almighty bless the school flourish and reach its highest success.

I came to Manjeri with a dream to settle here. I joined Saraswathi Computer Institue in the month of June... I was teaching C programme to BCA students. For better ca-reer prospects, I decided to join any of the schools in Manjeri. I got plenty of sugges-tions in this regard. One among them was Ace Public School. After three months of working in SIMS one day I went to Nazreth and Ace Public School and gave my resume. I expected that I would get a job at Nazreth but my hard luck. Next option was Ace Public School; Muneera madam was the principal then. She asked me some questions and asked whether I would like to join the next day. I was a bit con-fused and did not know what to do. I went back home, asked my in laws whether to join Ace or not. Ace was a new yet very famous school and all told me to join at once. Finally After a week on 29 Septem-ber 2009 I joined Ace Family.I was appoint-ed as a Montessori trainee. Then onwards my new journey began. New work area, new friends, cooperative and very friendly staff, cute students and a very pleasant ambience to begin my work. I attended lots of training programmes in and out of

ACE PUBLIC SCHOOL-Where I Flourished as a Teacher

Ace Public School. PDT&T training at Chen-nai, training at Calicut and the best one the Think Tank programme which is held on the y fourth Saturday of every month. It was a boon for the teachers of Ace Public School. Dr.Abdul Rahman the chairman of Ace Public School, who is very much inter-ested in the individual development of his teachers, would always try his maximum to ameliorate the skills of teachers through this Think Tank programme. It is his dream that all the teachers of Ace Public School would become excellent teachers wherever they are. I express my wholehearted gratitude to the chairman of Ace public school for the efforts taken to improve us. Now ,that I am away from Ace Public School I miss Muneera mam who first relied on me and appointed me as a teacher in Ace Public School. The invaluable exposure I got from Ace is a fuel for all my journeys ahead. I miss my colleagues who were so friendly and supportive. I miss my loving and curi-ous students.Last but not the least I miss the supporting staff who were always ready to extend their helping hands to us... I miss my Ace Family.

Here we are with wings to soar upLeaving all those pangs behind usFighting and vanquishing hurdlesSetting goals and striving hard!!!O.... At last, finally....

Here we reached this heaven of dreamsAnd we kindled this blazing flameHolding fast to the ways of GodNever compromising our ideals!!!There were stones and thorns in our pathWe were not cravens to retreatThere were chasms to leap across butWe were not afraid to rush forthHolding hands and rubbing shouldersNever falling down never bending knee!!!

Thus we built this dome of dreams!Yes, we sowed these seeds of hopeProud we are to raise this bannerOf Ace, our alma mater

A gene of adventure from a father, an NCC officer cum col-lege lecturer or a gene of romance with nature, inherited from a mother, a natural science teacher cum school tourism club convener makes my 46 chromosomes yearn for an expedition, 365 days a year. ‘Destination Island’ was in my dreams since the first day of my college life, those tiny emerald islands in the Arabian Sea, reminded an unfulfilled dream beyond the horizon! Four months back, I met my old friend, Dr. Muneera, online and had a detailed chat. She invited me to her place. She lives in Andrott, the largest island of the group. Special permits are required to visit the island as it is a union territory. It would be easier if we are hosted by an islander but Andrott has noth-ing to offer as a tourist spot except some historical places like the tomb of St. Ubaidulla from Arabia. To visit other islands we have to depend upon the speed boats, which is risky with small kids. Tourism is very much restricted in Lakshadweep as coral is-lands are ecologically very fragile. All packages are undertaken by a government authority called SPORTS -- society for pro-motion of recreational nature Tourism and water sports. My friend’s uncle working in SPORTS promised to arrange us a trip. But all the tickets were sold out, as it was the peak season. Oc-tober, November and December are the best seasons to visit Lakshadweep. One fine afternoon, I received a message that there was a four bedded cabin vacant in the ship,M.V .Kavaratti, on its trip from 29th November to 3rd December. The package was ‘Lakshadweep samudram’ – a five day cruise package.29/11/2015 ---- SundayWe were asked to report at the Lakshadweep wharf in Wel-lington Island, Kochi by 10.30 am. We set off at 4 o’clock from Manjeri. The early morning side was refreshing. Kochi, greeted us, with all her ebullience, well adorned in the morning dew. The Lakshadweep wharf looked like a small airport. SPORTS office was on the first floor. We got our boarding pass, complimentary T-shirts and caps with the logo of ‘Lak-shadweep Tourism’. After security checking and screening of bags we were asked to get into a bus parked outside. Our lug-gage was marked with our cabin numbers and dumped into a truck. The journey took just 10 minutes. Reached the Cochin port, where our Majestic M.V. Kavarrati was anchored. This ‘white palace on water’ was focused by a hundred cameras in no time! A detachable ladder or stairs was connected to the ship from the platform. We saw the passengers getting into the ship. We were asked to stay back for a while. The staff gave us some instructions, as we all were first time travelers. M.V. Kavaratti or Motor vessel Kavarrati is the largest passen-ger ever made in India. An all-weather ship which can accom-modate up to 700 passengers and 200 tons of cargo. Its maid-

en trip was in 2008. There are 150 cabins reserved for tourists, the rest for passengers to and fro Lakshadweep and Cochin. After embarkation, we were asked to proceed to our respective cabins. Ours was 367. The arrangement of the cab-ins was quite confusing. It looked like a large maze. The odd numbered cabins were on one side and the even numbered on the other side. There were plenty of cabin crew to help us. Finally we found out ours. Our luggage was already at the door step. The passage was narrow, but the cabins were spacious with four berths with cozy beds, a table and a chair, a tidy at-tached bathroom, shelves, four bottles of mineral water, four life jackets and a small window opening to the sea closed with a fixed glass pane, centralized AC, loud speakers to receive an-nouncements from the information counter. We were eager to explore our ship. The panoramic view of Cochin from the open deck on the 5th floor was breathtaking. The charm of old Cochin and the modern skyscrapers side by side, There was a Helipad on the open deck. Balconies with chairs on 3rd and 4th decks. Life boats and other safety accessories were displayed there, we saw a recreation room, a prayer hall, a hospital and a stationery store inside the ship. So many ships were anchored in the port. We saw a luxury cruise named “Costa Luminosa” from Italy.By 2.00 pm, heard an announcement about MMD survey. Af-ter half an hour, a service vessel named M.V. Balavan was spot-ted sailing towards our ship. Its function was to assist our ship to turn back and sideways so that it can sail towards the west. M.V Balavan started pulling the ship using heavy ropes/tugs. We all watched the procedure anxiously. And Hurrah! Our ship started sailing. The sailing speed was 17 knots per hour. Slowly and slowly, we left the mainland. A group of Dolphins appeared, diving to the clicks of cameras. We were upon the waves within minutes,

leaving back the back waters. The blue sea, the dancing waves, the cool breeze, the sea gulls dreaming or not….? Hundreds of “Sindbad” the sailor on board! We met several islanders in the ship, who depend upon the mainland for everything especially education and medical care. An old man in 70’s shared his experience of sailing in yachts from Androth, in his childhood to Cochin. He told us about the presence of flying fish in the Arabian Sea and soon could spot a few.Enjoyed a colorful sunset and retired to our cabins. Time for prayer and supper. At 8.30pm, there was a meeting by SPORTS representatives to explain the package details. Lakshadweep is an archipelago of 36 islands with 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. Only 10 are inhabited. It is the northern-most group of Chagos, Maldives Laccadives group of islands, the peaks of a vast undersea mountain range called chagoslac-cadives ridge. The Lakshadweep Island lie at a distance of 250 to 400 km away from the coastal plains of Kerala. Our package included day visits to 3 islands namely Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy. Went to bed by 9.30 pm, the rocking mo-tion of the ship didn’t interrupt our sound sleep. 30/11/2015 Woke up by 5.00pm, we were eager to witness the sunrise. After morning chores and prayer, moved to the deck. It was already occupied by passengers who were getting ready to get down at their homeland. The ship had stopped moving. A narrow strip of land was glowing in the first rays of the ris-ing sun, a few kilometers away. Slowly the aqua green lagoon became visible as the dawn broke. Had breakfast by 7.30 am. Then down to the first floor for disembarkation door. At first the passengers were allowed to leave the ship. They were not having the life jacket, may be they were all good swimmers. The crew helped us to get into the boat which could accom-modate nearly 40. The ship anchors in the deep sea and the boat takes us to the island, along the lagoon part of the sea. The water was crystal clear and we could easily behold colorful fishes, sea cucumbers and coral, debris, crabs on rocks. The SPORTS staff greeted us at the jetty, walked to the resort. Welcome drink of tender coconut. We were asked to remove our life jacket and keep them at the counter which would be returned for the return trip to the ship. We were given a new set of life jackets to be worn at the beach. We left our bags

and valuables in the resort. Nothing to worry about thieves in the islands. We were free to do anything till lunch. Sitting idle on the white sandbanks under the blue sky gazing at the green sea was the most welcomed idea. But how to keep away from the crystal clear aqua green lagoon? Everyone plunged into the warm water (Even in winter the islands were sunny and hot).A variety of water rides were available. Glass bottom boat ride was included in the package. The main attention of the Lakshadweep islands is the marine wealth. Watch the underwater life througha glass boat, or a closer view by snorkeling or an intimate acquaintance by scuba diving. The floor of the glass boat was made up of glass through which we could clearly see the underwater flora and fauna. The boat could carry up to 10 passengers. Took us to a distance of 2 or 3 kms away from the shore, where there was an abundant col-lection of corals and multi coloured fishes. We saw sea anemo-nes and clown fishes, many surgeon fish, star fish, butterfly fish, sea cucumbers etc. We were allowed to feed the fish with bread crumps so that huge number of multi coloured fish were attracted to the water surface. We touched them. It was a one hour ride. Snorkeling and kayaking were free in the second day’s pack-age. So we enjoyed other water sports like banana boat, speed boat, knee boat, and water scooter etc, each for rupees 300 per person. The bravehearts enjoyed scuba diving also. After lunch a group of artist from the island performed folk song and folk dance.

Our next programme was the visit to marine museum and aquarium that was after 4.30 pm. One hour left for sleeping or dancing. We sneaked out for a village walk.We were stopped by a procession by the student’sof Kavaratti Higher secondary school, celebrating their victory in the arts festival. Then we went to a mosque, met some local men and women, who could follow and speak Malayalam. They origi-nally speak a variant of Malayalam (read later that it is called Jesry)They resembled Malabar Muslims in culture, costumes and beliefs. The aquarium and museum had a good collection of specimen. Theblue whale skeleton in the pool attracted every one.

By 5.30 pm we were asked to get ready for the return

ship to the ship. Our ship had re turned after a day trip to Kadmat Is-land, on the way back we saw many boats and ferries, owned by the various government offices, like the cars and jeeps we see in our place.” Kavaratti is the headquarters of the capital city of the union territory of Lakshadweep. The smooth ride enjoying the calm la-goon and the sea breeze was really awe-some. Saw many new faces on the deck as we rode nearer to the ship. They were the passengers from Kadamat, going to Ka-lpeni, our next destination. After bathing and prayer, moved to the deck and enjoyed the blue sea, wan-ing moon and the starry sky. Supper by 8pm. Went to bed by 9 o’clock.

1/12/15 (Tuesday) Woke up early. Finished morning chores and prayer. Went to the deck. It was still dark. The ship had anchored already. The bright beacon from the light house and the narrow strip of land were visible along with sea birds and fishing boats in

the twilight. A pristine sunrise followed. The beacon disappeared and the tall light house painted in black and white appeared, amidst the green cover of co-conut groves. Kalpeni, our second island is 287 km away from Kochi. It is a group of four is-lands enclosed by a large lagoon. Lagoon is the shallow portion of the sea, pecu-liar to coral islands. The small islands aptly called islets are Tilakkam, Pitty and Cheriyam. After the storm of 1847, a huge bank of coral debris got deposited along the shorelines making these islets connected, so that one can walk to these during low tide. The ship was anchored closer to the island where there was no lagoon. Just a 10 minute ride in the boat; but upon the blue sea, much deeper. Taken to the

Koomel beach resort. The palace was so scenic with the view of two small islets. Pitti was declared a bird sanctuary, from where the archae-ologists had discovered very ancient egg fossils. It is a breeding centre for Turtles. This Island was believed to be formed by Guano deposits or bird droppings. These were the areas of snorkeling and diving, but due to high tide, we were taken to the North Tip beach. Oh! The most beautiful sight was awaiting the nature’s palette of colours. A narrow tip of land projected into the sea, covered by pure white sand like snow. The roaring waves of the blue sea on the right with the calm aqua green vast lagoon, and a few meters ahead, surrounded by multi - coloured sea, the white sand which is formed by the break-ing down of calcium carbonate deposits

on the coral reef. The white sand merging with the crystal clear water, merging with the aqua green lagoon, then the blue sea kissing the az-ure sky with white clouds ………. Cute col-ourful kayaks resting on the shore. Black tetra pods covered with colourfull shells. Hermit crabs hiding under abandoned shells….. What a dreamy setting …….. Just from a picture post card!! Indeed the serendipity from the Almighty hid-den in the mysterious ocean ….. Kalpeni. Kids jumping into the lagoon. We had to wear chappals as the sea bed was full of sharp corals. No matter whether we know swimming or not, wearing life jackets was also mandatory. The lagoon looked like a large pool and the little ones were having their swimming les-sons. We walked a long distance along the lagoon. Spotting colourful fishes be-

neath the coral debris in the crystal clear water was fun. We did kayaking. Then I tried my luck in snorkeling .In snorkeling, we can float over the water surface with the help of a life jacket. And view the un-derwater life by immersing our head into water with the help of a snorkeling kit. It includes a plastic goggles to cover our eyes, nose and ears blocked, to prevent the entry of sea water. A snorkel pipe was pointing up over the surface. The other end of the pipe called mouthpiece is held tight by our teeth; with mouth shut. We can breathe in and breathe out through this pipe. It was very safe but I couldn’t go further to the living coral reef as my eyes got irritated by the salt water.Enjoyed the serenity till 1 pm. Back to the Koomel beach for fresh water bath-ing and lunch, visited the small stall selling Tuna pickles, coconut laddoos and books on Lakshadweep. The lunch

was tasty similar to Malabar cuisine but the yummy Tuna fry scored high. The artists performed Parichakali. Visited Government Hosiery factory and coconut processing factory. Bought Virgin coco-nut oil and desiccated coconut powder. The return trip was by 6’o clock. During the free time after tea,

we talked with the SPORTS Staff. Most of them had their education in Kozhikode and Malappuram. The van drivers were paid Rs 2000 per day, but they would be left with only 300 Rupees after meeting the expense of fuel(1 liter of petrol costs 240 rupees). Some grow vegetables on the terrace. But artificial fertilizers and chemicals are banned. There are a few fresh water wells. Desalination plants are installed by the government.Tourism is a good means of revenue. But tourism is restricted here since the ex-istence of these islands depends on the living corals and the fringing coral reefs which protect the underwater shoreline. They prevent the islands from Tsunami and deluge. The mighty sea waves are stopped by the corals a few kilometers away from the land. Environment pollu-

tion, plastic wastes, chemicals etc result in the depletion of Oxygen levels in the sea water there by destroying the coral life. There is little room for industrialisa-tion here.Agriculture is purely organic. Wild ani-mals are absent since the land is de-void of forest land. No sign of dogs and snakes. The islanders engage in cattle rearing and poultry making. There are no tribals like Andaman in Lakshadweep. History says there are evi-dences of human settlement as early as 1000BC in the islands. These islands were known to the sailors all over the world. Budhists lived here in the 5th and 6th centuries and in the 7th century, an Arab scholar, Ubaidulla visited Andrith and preached Islam. Later the Portuguese came. Then the land was under Chola kings. After that, it was a part of the Ar-akkal kingdom of Kannur and then fell to TipuSulthan’s Mysore province. After his defeat in the battle of Srirangapattanam, the British added Lakshadweep islands to South Canara and Madras presidency. Even after India’s independence, it con-tinued to be under Madras Presidency. The state reorganisation act of 1956 joined the land with Kerala on the basis of linguistic and cultural similarity. Lat-er Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru visited the place and wanted to bring it under the centre. So on 1st November 1956, it was declared a union territory. Our boats came by 6’o clock. The sea was rough and the waves scary. So the 10 minutes ride to the ship was like a 10 km rafting in the rapids! The ship’s day trip was to Andrott and there were many passengers to Minicoy and Kochi.

2-12-15 WednesdayWe had covered a distance of 200 km from Kalpeni to reach Minicoy. The morning show was mesmerising as be-fore. The crescent shaped island with a large lagoon and the beacon from the light house was visible from the deck. The disembarkation started by 7.30 am and in 40 minutes, we reached the shore. From the jetty we proceeded to the light house in open vehicles of mini Lorries decorated with cushioned benches and this ride offered a 360 degree panoramic view of this unique island. It resembled Maldives in language, culture customs and geography. Minicoy, also known as Maliku, speaks Mahal. It is just 90 km away from the Northern most island of Maldives. This island is greener with a variety of breadfruit, jackfruit, screw pine and mangroves abundantly growing. Bread-fruit is their national fruit. National ani-mal is butterfly fish. The land was akin to a remote village in Kollam or Alappuzha except for the aqua green lagoon and pure white sandbanks. The lighthouse was constructed by the British in 1885. A wonderful sight of the island and the green canopy is on offer if we can climb the 200 plus steps. The beach resort housed 20 tourist resorts. Minicoy is the second largest island with a longer beach and wider lagoon.Hearing that the coral life is richer here, I did snorkeling to see an unbelievable underwater world. Our guides, so help-ful and sincere, helped us sense the mys-teries beneath fathoms. The corals looked like a garden of multi coloured, multi sized, multi shaped cacti

plants with colourful school of fish like butterflies swaying around! Corals are sessile animals or plant like creatures belonging to class Anthoza of phylum cnidarians of kingdom of animals. They are marine invertebrates. A colony of genetically identical polyps secreting a hard skeleton of calcium carbonate. Al-gal symbiosis imparts various colours. At some places, the corals were too vast that I was scared to be stuck up in it. Cor-als are home to a large number of fishes and weird creatures. At Fallissery village house, we got a small class on the village systems. Minicoy is divided into 10 villages. The largest is Fallissery. There would be a headmale (Bodukkaka) and a head female (Bodut-hatha) in each village. Social gatherings are held at village houses. The Fallissery village house was built in 18th century. A pretty race boat was resting on the shore. We got tea and special Minicoy snacks. The people looked different from those of other islands. Initially, Minicoy was a part of Maldives. But after a devastating storm, the king of Mali refused to help the people of Minicoy. They received help from the king of Malabar. The trade relations between Minicoy and Maldives stopped after 1956.

Thursday 3-12-15Reached Cochin by 9 am. At first, the pas-sengers were cleared. There were many students in the ship as well as patients from Minicoy and other islands. Our dis-embarkation was over by 10.30 am and we headed for home with memories for a life time and, of course, with four sun-tanned faces!

We all have started our life on earth before five or twenty five or more than that , still we have many among us looking on to life without any objective. For such people, they don`t have any answer to WHY LIFE? In today`s world most of us are like machines students going to school, back to home again the same, the case with someone who owns a job, early in the morning sets off for work again comes back home this continues every day. This is to be changed write down your life as a poem at let it have the most beautiful meaning.

For such a change to be brought into your lives start with dreaming as our former president taught us. DREAMS ARE FUEL OF LIFE, BIGGER THE DREAMS, BIGGER IS THE LIFE - NADEEM KAZI

Keep as many wishes as you can in your heart, with a bunch of hope and the courage to pursue your dreams. Apply these in your life anywhere you go, anyone you meet, and whatever you do so that you succeed in life. And let your lives have a broader meaning. With all these in mind never forget your past, live a perfect present and let you have a better future. Whatever you do enjoy it so that you get a happy life.

Life is unpredictable it may turn the most beautiful also the most horrible. How you encounter with all the situations liesin your attitude. Every moment in life keeps a smile on your face as you look beautiful when you smile.

DREAM, DREAM, DREAM DREAMS TRANSFORM INTO THOUGHTS,

THOUGHTS RESULT IN ACTION... - A P J

And never curse life, whatever hardships you face in life have the courage to face it with a smile. As in the film `3 IDIOTS` we saw how Aamir khan always says ALL IS WELL to his heart.Light up your heart with the candle of positive thoughts and remove the darkness of negativeness. If you have a dream in your life you`ll be run by a force of inspiration, you`ll see magic everywhere you get a beautiful life.

And never forget even if you wish upon a star that too is not a big dream. Achieving your goal do good for the mankind.

CHANGE THE CLASSROOM, CHANGE THE SOCIETY.

We`ll all pray to God to gift us a prosperous future to light up our dreams and for a beautiful life.

Mannequin Mankind

Where’s love?Where’s soul?Where’s the candor mind without guileless love?Oh! This world is meaningless, somehow,Then, why am I breathing,To witness all these truculence of mankind?Biting and ripping each other,For their own selfish reasons and being splenetic;Oh! Lord! Aid me....Give me the strength to withstand all these witless deeds.Haven’t you given any of them sense? Also unbending...All so unbeknown to their heinous deeds,Thinking justice is theirs to own, they’re right,Others are wrong. When’re you all going to absorb, The real purpose of life?

Wasting their life, By carrying spite in their minds.Men’s soul must learn repression,To understand the true potential of himself,But, born with disputatious thoughts,Betraying themselves...Hey! Whom are you living for?Without knowing yourself,Simply searching in the darkness,Knowing that they’re digging the same pointOver and over,Hoping to find something,Rather than nothing; But, just empty sand.Soul less....Then, by the time you realize,It’s late!

Rinu Razak

No matter how far you’ve gone in life or how busy your days become, there always remains this one special longing to go back to your school and get back to those best days of your life’s story. Looking back at the glimpses of yesterday, days spent in Ace, I have that very same longing bubbling up inside me. This place has been a turning point in my life, and for that I’m immensely indebted to the wonderful people out there. I still remember the day I joined the place, the Pravesh utsav, a warm welcome to the Ace family. From then began an eventful journey. One that had its tough times and the fun times. Ace has left me with an end-less book of memories. So much has happened there! It is also the place where I savored true friendship, such beautiful bonds beyond those of blood. Everything about Ace remains close to the heart; be it the class hours, the

I can’t believe it’s overSusna Haneef Konnola

teachers, the functions, the arts fest, tours, all of them remain etched in the heart. Nevertheless, Ace has also taught me to look into my-self, to explore the insides of me. Those lines by Robert Frost at the entrance of the school have largely influ-enced me, ‘Two roads diverged in the woods, and I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the dif-ference’. To confront these lines every morning was like a cup of an energizer drink! I think I’ve managed to hold on to those lines, and I believe that it will bring about the difference!Perhaps, years later, I think I’ll still be longing to go back there as badly as now. I can’t believe it’s all over. Time has taken it away from me. Maybe this is why they say the best days of your life are your school days! I com-pletely go with these lines.

All of us are the children of Adam and Hawwa. We breathe the same air, our hearts

beat the same. But when did we begin to act as the strict gender patrician? Is a boy

better than a girl? It is very important topic to put into a discussion Guys; don’t you

think it’s high time we acted for gender equality?

Have you noticed? Most of the domestic works are associated with woman.

Men think they are born with these qualities. The domestic jobs women do which

require such skill are not economically valued, but the jobs carried out by men are

respected and economically valued. They are the bread winners and decision mak-

ers of the family. This inequality hasn’t popped out now. Since prehistoric time this

inequality has been prevalent. In the hunting and the gatherers society, hunting was

carried out by men, while gathering was carried out by women. Let me ask, If you

are a boy, what toys do you expect? You get toys which show fighting and racing

but what do you expect a girl to get? She gets dolls or a cooking set. What does this

imply? It implies boys are dominant and chauvinistic whereas girls are meant to be

weak and pushed into kitchens. India has been through a bunch of women’s rights

but still some rights are away from us. Are we that weak? Or do we convince our-

selves that lives are meant to be restricted by the men? I will put another example in

front of you. Just imagine a girl walking past a group of boys. Do you think they are

gonna leave her alone? They are sure to drop a comment, whistle or at least stare.

Eventually she will turn her head down. Have you ever seen a man keeping his

head down in front of a woman? So what are we gonna do? Just leave it behind and

watch men destroying woman’s respect? No let us act.

Some ways to avoid this inequality is

• Woman should be educated. Education can change everything. Even this

mentality of the people that woman are inferior.

• Conduct awareness programmes: Let us teach the woman their rights and

men a woman’s importance.

Let us move together. Let India stand first for equity.

Let us stand first for equity

MARCH 31st 2014, the day when every moment changed into memories. My school, my friends, my teachers …is now just a memory .The teacher in ACE ,was like ,not just like but was my parents my friends were the ones who lent me their hands when I fell, encouraged me in all my success ,loved me ,made me happy when I was sad. May be I was the star of ACE, but was zero in front of my friends. My friends were the best of all .My school ACE meant a world to me! On march 31ST when I was stepping out of the school ,I felt like my heart was breaking into pieces ,my 5 years in ACE were not just academic years but my life ,after reach-ing a new school too I could never ever forget ACE. Every day I take my teacher’s ,school’s and friend’s photos and see ,to feel like now too I am a part of ACE.ACE I miss you from the bottom of my heart. Almost all the days I cry just because I miss my beloved school.

May be none will believe what I am saying, but it’s just true. I always wish if an angel appears in front of me and ask me to wish something ,then I would definitely wish that I have to go back to ACE .All the students studying in ace are very much lucky to be there ,may be everyone won’t realize that until those days become memories… With ACE I miss my homeland too; what-comes inmy mind when I think of Malappuram is the locked gates of my home. In Malappuram everyone I met was loving and caring, but here in Thrissur I feel everyone as strangers’ .ACE was my home, where I learned to live. Iwould never get a school better than ACE .In ACE everyone encouraged me, I was moti-vated, but here in my new school none of them encour-ages ,none of them motivates .May be none reading this will believe what I tell ,but what I wrote here is my heart .My heart that cries!ACE MEANT A WORLD TO ME…

There was a girl named Hanan. She was in 2nd standard. She has no friends. The next day when the class started a new girl named Hamda came. She was sitting with Hanan. One day they became best friends. One day when Hanan was walking that time she saw a big bat sitting on the path. She was very scared. When Hamda saw that she got an idea. She threw a stone at the bat’s wings and the bat fell down and they ran away. Then Hanan thanked Hamda and they became good friends again.

Once there was a barbie called Expoya. One day her friends called her for a party. She agreed. In morning she quickly dress up and put her shoes. When she reached the party all flowers flew in the sky. The party was very super. She looked out of the window. She was very happy. After the party she needed to go to her home. But she should cross the river. She can not cross the river. When she was thinking she saw a boy, he was handsome and he had a boat. She asked the boy “ Can I enter your boat?” the boy answered “Yes, you can enter my boat. She reached her home. Her friends bought her a Brabic bubblugum! She was very happy. She took the bubblegum and ate it. After eating, she took one needle and stitched her dress. Then she went to Barbie water park with her cutey kitten and her puppy. She put

make up and sunglass and combed her hair as well. Later she put her socks and shoes and danced and went to her car. She looked her face in a small mirror. She saw beautiful flowers looking her while she was shopping. She saw her friends eating ice cream! Then they three talked about their friendships. She called her friends that she had become an explorer! Her friends were excited. Later at night she took one dress but Expoya didn’t like it at all! Then she put a black dress and kept a mug and she put her cat with her. But Expoya didn’t like then she put a woolen cloth dress. She liked it. She went for shopping again. She wrote with her pen. Then she wrote some good things about her best friend Zoya. At night, she sat in her house and ate some bubblegums and said good bye to her friends.

That was ACE to us.Father, Mother,Teacher, mentor, counselor, guide and friend; all packed in one.Only when the last year approached the thought of leaving Ace dawned on us, and then there was no looking back. We were busy collecting memories … those which can be cherished forever.By each passing day we made it harder for ourselves to leave the school. We ruled the corridors, held each other’s handsand made promises to never lose contact. The last chapter of the glorious book of my ACE days was approaching its end. And on the last day, leaving our cocoons behind, we rose up into the sky with wings that acepinned on us, only to regret leaving this glorious realm.

The first exciting momentTrip to ErnakulumWe started our trip from morning 5:00 AM. But I was sad that my beloved friend Aysha was no there

for the trip. But my friends said that don’t worry, they are with me as my friends. We dance and

enjoyed more. When we reached at Trissur, we had our breakfast at one restaurant. The food was

amazing. Then we leave from 9.30 AM from there. Then we directly went to Hill Palace and saw

many interesting things. The portraits of some poets, some vehicles and weapon used during the

battle, some manuscripts, some jewelry, some coins used at that period. Then we saw the statue of

dinosaur made up of fiber glass. Then that’s all about the trip to Hill palace.

Before going to marine drive, we had our lunch from one hotel. Then we took some photos from the

hotel. Then we went to marine drive. One person was introducing all the things around us. Then that

DJ, OH MY GOD… it was amazing. No words to say. I am speechless by thinking about the DJ crazy.

We all enjoyed and our accompanying teachers also enjoyed by dancing and hitting on the floor.

That’s all about the DJ crazy in marine drive.

Then next we went to LuLu Mall. We went inside the LuLu Mall and it was awesome. We purchased

some things from the LuLu Mall. Then we took some photos from the mall. Then, we stood there only

for half and hour. Then that’s all about the trip to LuLu Mall.

There are the moments which made me more fun.

The second exciting momentThe 10th foundation day of our schoolThe day before the foundation Day, I was thrilled to see the program. It was amazing. The boys of 9th

and 10th was rocking stage by showing their dances and by singing group songs. Then our teacher

Suresh Sir sang one song of Ennu Ninte Moideen. It was nice to listen to it while he was singing that

song. Then I saw my sisters Oppana and she was standing like she is having stage fear.

Then the dance of 10th boys was amazing. I really enjoyed it very well.

Then the dance which Avval Sir taught was superb. When I was watching the dance, I was thinking. “

is Avval Sir is a great dancer. Then I taught Arabian dance for the 4th standard students. Many of my

friends were saying it is good. Even though Salahudheen Sir also said that it is good. Then atleast

the students of 10th batch sang some songs for us. Although it was amazing.

These are my two exciting moments I ever had

I ate my dinner at 8’o clock and went to bed too. I had a dream where I heard a herd of cows moo. They swished their tails, and told some tales of flies’ red, green, and bright blue. Some flies were big and some were small. Can you guess the sum of all? Who blew many? One cow won against them all. No matter how big or small. Do you know which one won? No I have no clue at all!

It was a speacial class for 9th and 10th

and the news of a special class on children’s day did really hurt us. When all other children were at home, sleeping and playing on this very oc-casion, we guyz were told to come to school. It did really hurt.....Reaching jaseela junction by 8.45 and school by 9, we had our first period, a one hour class. Hmmm! It did sweat me.....And suddenly a big glow appeared on our faces when we heard the bell of refreshment, not thinking of food, but jumping out from class to corridor, giving a change to ourselves from class! And it was quite interesting.Don’t know wether it was because of speacial class or due to children’s day. We had no spea-cial rules.we were allowed to play in ground during all brakes. And It was really a good news for us.......and indeed boys were with their weapon, the foot ball. Enjoying and playing them-selves..while we girls watched them play with enthusiasm because it was 9 v/s 10 .....Suddenly a sweet voice called me ‘Hala...............’I turned back from the game and chatting with my buddies to that very familiar voice....When a sweet hand with a cute red flower streched to me.....Don’t think more, it’s not a proposal;) ‘Happy children’s day’ the voice continued. And it was for me For we guyz,A flower on children’s dayFrom......From....... JAYANTHI MAM.....I was really shocked for a moment, and happy for the rest....Because it was from my first standard’s class teacher and I don’t know how to thank her....Cause those essence which she had bought to my life being my class teacher from first to third is something that I should never forget....But I did forget, when I got to secondary section and I didn’t even smile to her for some months thinking she’s my old teacher. Forgetting old was, is and always will be gold.Pity on me!....And now Iam asking sorry for all those ,not just to mam but to all teachers to whom I did wrong....because that flower taught me how great a teacher is....Reminded me,“How much you hate school you will always miss it ,when you leave it”Thank u mam for that flower. And as Nisha mam wrote in the board-“Proud to be in Ace for last 10 years”And Proud to say that I was a member of the first 1st standard batch of Ace family........thank u mam!!!

After 6 months of sadness I changed my school. My new school is SANDEEPANI.This school is just like ACE. I liked this school a lot! Still, something always make me love my ACE more.Eventhough I like this school, ACE will always have a special place in my heart. No schools or friends could be replaced with ACE. May be I like SANDEEPANI just like ACE, but I beleive no school will be equal to ACE. ACE is my home.7 years in ACE, didn’t teach me only subjects and les-sons but life!

On 24th December 2015 we had a ‘get together’ in ACE. I went along with my family. The programme was for students who left ACE after 10th. So, none of them in my age was there. But I met my teachers and many helpers. Everyone there calls me Ami, which gives me a very good smile on my face. Here, when all of them call me Amitha, I don’t feel like they call it from the bottom of the heart. My friends, teachers, ACE and my home town Malappuram will always remain beloved in my heart! My school, my friends and my teachers make my life complete!....................

All students should prac-tice acceleration method of learning in the present world, exhorts Dr. K. Abdul Rahi-man. He was speaking on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the 10th founda-tion day at Ace. Giving the keynote address, the chairman urged all stu-dents to be familiar with this fast track method that would equip a child with the compe-tence to conceptualize a con-tent. For that, all should get

from the teachers what will be taken the next day and then the students can be prepared with the content vocabulary that features in the lesson. The Chairman concised his message to express his grati-tude to Dr. Abdulla, Muneera teacher and Mr. Hussain besides thanking other trust members in addition to the entire staff, students and par-ents. The Principal delivered the

welcome speech. The PTA president Mr. Zakeer Hussain presided over the function. Dr. Abdulla Cheryakkat, Dr.KT Subair, Mr.Majeed, Mr.Jafar Ali, Mr. KM Hussain and the vice principal felicitated the occasion. The school captain, Hamna Ismail cast the vote of thanks. Later, the venue became the centerpiece for a host of cultural programmes by the students.
