Melanie was a person of much character! She was known to most by her infrequent sarcasm and frequent attempts of perfection. It was always so much she wanted to do in life, yet time always found a way to hide himself among the darkness. I remember 20 years ago when we first met. It was at Greater Harvest COGIC and Central High School…I mean THE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. I thought she was stuck up and later I found out that she thought I was stuck up as well…..funny right? It got really interesting when we ended up dating the same guy anonymously. We then REALLY didn’t care for each other. She thought I was robbing the cradle (he was a year younger) and I thought she just had a crush on him and wanted him to like her. Well in the end he was playing us both. We later became the closest friends through the beautifully easy yet complicated artistic expression and ministry called…DANCE!!! Dance was our poetry and prose. Dance was our outlet and hidden gem. Dance was how I learned to know, love, and appreciate my best friend Melanie.
