1: Create Design
Select location using street
address or latitude-longitude
Hint: Can adjust map
position to center on
specific location
![Page 3: Quick-Start Guide - Folsom Labs](https://reader034.fdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022042713/6266fb680dbed664aa3c3c04/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
2: Create Design
(Mechanical and
Electrical)
4: Define
Condition Set
3: Upload
Shading
(Optional)
5: Run
Simulation &
View Report

2: Create Design (Mechanical)
Click to save and re-draw
modules
Draw Field Segment on
map by clicking corner to
create shape
Hint: Can create
multiple Field
Segments
![Page 5: Quick-Start Guide - Folsom Labs](https://reader034.fdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022042713/6266fb680dbed664aa3c3c04/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Combiner Boxes
Inverters
2: Create Design (Electrical)
Important: You must
save wiring before
exiting the Designer
Click to automatically
generate wires, combiner
boxes, and inverters
Hint: Inverters and
combiner boxes can be
moved by dragging to a new
location
Define system
wiring rules

3: Import Shade Patterns from
SketchUp
Create 3D model of
obstructions in SketchUp
HelioScope Plugin available
under ‘Plugins’ menu
Hint: SketchUp model
should not have modules
(these are fully modeled
within HelioScope)
Select a project and click
‘Upload Shade Profile’

3: Verify Shade Patterns
in HelioScope
Patterns are generated for every
hour, on the 15th day of each month
The shade maps are overlaid on
the modules to determine which
modules are shaded

4: Create Condition Set
Choose weather file from the list
of nearby weather stations
Advanced: Can select shade patterns
or modify soiling, mismatch, and
temperature assumptions
Map shows the exact
location of each
ground-based station

5: Run Simulation
Hint: Can compare all reports
using these summary metrics
Select to view completed
annual report
Initiate simulation and
generate report
