What is switchTec®? switchTec® is a range of self adhesive tapes which are wound onto rolls. All switchTec® products provide an alternative to wet adhesives or loose lay systems when installing floor coverings or skirting. Sigan® is one range of products from switchTec® whereby a variety of floor coverings such PVC, luxury vinyl tiles and carpets can be fitted onto subfloors or existing floor coverings.

Sigan®. How does it work?A new floor covering can easily be applied onto an existing floor covering (or subfloor) without having to remove the old covering. This not only avoids the normal disturbances caused when renovating, but also saves the client time and money. The new floor covering can then be used and walked upon immediately. When the covering applied becomes worn after years of use, it can be removed quickly and easily, without leaving any adhesive residues.

Shelbourne look at ways of keeping noise and disruption to a minimum to avoid disturbing residents when the time comes to refurbish a room. In two recent cases the incoming resident required a fitted carpet to be installed where the original flooring was a smooth vinyl. By using Sigan®, Shelbourne were able to install the carpet directly to the original vinyl flooring without the need to renovate the floor. If the next resident requests either a different carpet or a return to vinyl, the carpet can simply be uplifted and replaced with the minimum of fuss.

vodafone renovated their stores using Sigan®, the high performance switchTech® adhesive from UZIN. vodafone wanted to quickly renovate the floors without the downtime normally associated with refurbishment and many of the shops floors were installed overnight.

Royal Bolton Hospital

Sigan® was used to refurbish the floor of the cardiology unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital. Due to the hospital's high standards of health care they required a solvent-free solution to keep VOC’s to a minimum. Sigan® not only met these demands but saved the hospital time and money. The new floor was also immediately ready for use, which allowed the ECG recording and monitoring devices to be used whilst the refurbishment took place.
