SealsThe following quality seals are available forTST couplings. Various seals can be useddepending upon the throughput media. Alldetails are not binding. Before use, pleasecontact TST for information about the con-centration, mixture or temperature of media.If there is any doubt, trials should be carriedout. All legislation relating to foodstuffs mustbe observed.

Type N Nitrile elastomer (NBR)Good ageing resistance, high mechanicalstrength, resistant to oil and petrol.Poor resistance against ozone.Temperature from -20ºC to +100ºC.

Type V Fluorine elastomer (FPM)Very good resistance at high temperatures(except for hot water and steam). Good resi-stance to many chemicals, ozone, weather.Limited for low temperature range.Temperature from -15ºC to +200ºC.

Type P Ethylene-propylene elastomer (EPDM)Very good resistance against hot water andsteam, resistant to ageing and weather, notresistant to mineral oils and grease.Temperature from -40ºC to +150ºC.

Additional specialsurface treatments guarantee greater durabilitywith less wear and tear and high resistanceto corrosion.In the case of air, gas and oil – as long as theyare not mixed with any additives – TST cou-plings made from standard materials will besuitable.These details are not binding. Where there isany doubt, trials must be carried out.

Guide to selection and ordering

AttentionWhen using a coupling with a plastic releasering the resistance to temperature is limitedto a maximum of 120° C.

Note about SafetyISO 6150 §7.1 recommends that a hose ofat least 300 mm in length should be usedbetween the coupling and a vibrating tool.Please also read the operating instructionsthat are supplied with the coupling.

Selection and HandlingIncorrect handling or the wrong choice ofQuick Action Couplings or accessories canresult in damage to property and/or personalinjury. The maximum operating pressure foreach model as specified by the manufacturermust not be exceeded. The throughput medium is a critical factor in the choice ofseal and coupling material. External mechanical impact and/or vibration will have an adverse effect on the durability ofcouplings and accessories and should therefore be avoided or, where this is notpossible, limited.TST recommends that couplings and acces-sories should be checked periodically forexcessive wear and leaks.TST Customer Services Department will behappy to give you further details about theuse of TST couplings.For more detailed information, please followthe operating instructions.
