Similarities To Other Media - TextThe similarities my magazine has to other text in magazines is that the text is set out in interview form, which is popular in many music magazines as it draws the readers attention if the information is directly from the real people. Another similarity in my text is the layout. My text is set out in columns underneath an image and a large title, which is how many other music interview stories are set out in magazines similar to mine. Also the text I use is quite bold and always stands out from the background so it is easy to see and read. Another similarity is the way that my interview is worded. I have used words such as “Won’t” and other slang to make the interview more personal and informal like other interviews have in music magazines. Another similarity in my text to other magazines are that the interview is set out so that the magazine asks questions in one colour and the band in another colour so it is clear which person is speaking. Other Similarities in my text compared to other music magazines are that on my front cover, my title is very bold and big so it stands out and has an immediate attraction to the audience. Also the main story of my magazine stands out from all the other stories as it needs to draw attention to the audience. So the text is big and bold and also in different colours to other stories for the main story, as it is on most other music magazines.

Similarities To Other Media - Positioning

The similarities my magazine has to how it is positioned in other magazines is that my front cover follows a general connotation of a music magazine. The mast head is laid at the top with a large centre image which supports the main story which is written larger than the other stories. This is because this is the main thing that will pull the audience in to read the magazine. There is also many other smaller stories surrounding the main story down the sides of the cover to interest the reader more. Like many other magazines similar to my own, the colour scheme of my magazine is similar throughout so it follows a set house style. Also the placement of my image on the front page is large and in the centre so the audience see the band and are automatically drawn in. My photos in my interview are placed around the text. Another similarity to positioning is the way the interview is set in different paragraphs for each question and answer. This makes It clearer for the reader to read and understand.

Similarities To Other Media - People

Some similarities to the people I have used in my magazine are that the people on my front cover in my main story are good looking. Other magazines use people that are good looking and quite skinny because the target audience will be more attracted to the magazine if the person on the cover is attractive. This is because if the people on the magazine were not attractive, the target audience will be less attracted to buy it because the people buying the magazine will aspire to be like the person or people on the front cover. I chose to use the band of four boys because they are all good looking and the target audience of my magazine will be attracted to them. I also chose to use them for my magazine cover and double page because they are white and the ethnicity of my magazine audience is white British people so mainly white people will be used for my magazine as other music magazines aimed at white British people mainly use white models for their magazines.

Most magazines have more than one photo on the front cover. I have not used this on my front cover as I only have one. However, there are also many magazines that only have one image on so my magazine is slightly different to most magazines in this concept.
