After asking participants which shot they would prefer to be used on the front of the CD cover. It was clear that the extreme close up and the close up shot were equally as popular. We expected this result as other already existing CD covers generally feature the singers photo as being in a close up. Therefore in order to ensure our CD cover was as realistic as possible we have decided to also use a close up. However in order to add a bit of uniqueness to our product we have decided to do an extreme close up of half of the singers face.

After asking participants how much writing should feature on the digipak. It was clear that a minimal amount of writing was the most popular answer. We expected this result as again, already existing CD covers generally have a strong eye catching image where the main focus lies and a few words outlining some of the main details. Therefore in order to ensure our CD cover was as realistic as possible we have decided to avoid using too much text, especially since this could have lead to a loss of engagement from the viewers. As a result we are only going to write the necessities such as the name of the album etc. and the name of the singer etc.

After asking participants how many songs they thought should be in an album. It was clear that on the whole people generally agreed there should be between 5 and 6 songs in the album. Despite there usually being about 11-12 songs in a standard CD we are going to take this feedback on board and only include 5 songs in the album. We expected most of our participants to select the 6+ option therefore these results are surprising to a certain extent. However we still feel that 5 songs is a good number of songs to include as too many songs in an album can make a CD cover look too crowded and could prevent the audience from paying attention to the main focus.

After asking participants what type of colours would be most suitable for using in our digipak. It was clear that bold, high contrast colours should be used. This option may have been popular as bold colours are generally associated and used within the pop genre and bold colours are good for trying to get someone’s attention, helping to essentially sell the product. Generally we expected this result as most CD covers are bold therefore by using bold colours in our creation, it’s likely that the product will become more realistic.
