How many characters would u like to see in a short film ?

Findings -•Our audience couldn’t decide whether they wanted two or three main characters so it may be worth asking this question in our focus group. •This result was important as we now know that it is likely we will need to feature an interaction between these 2 or 3 characters.

What would you prefer to see the short film about ?

Findings -•The main theme our target audience wanted to see was time as opposed to romance the next option which came closest.•This may be because this type of narrative would give us the opportunity to come up with an interesting new and original idea.

Where would you prefer to see the short film to be set?

Findings -•The majority of our audience wanted our short film to be set in the countryside specifically a village or home with (50%). •However the location of Workplace would also be viable as 40% gave this as their answer, so it should not be discarded.

Would you prefer the main character to be male or female ?

Findings -•The common theme here was that the large proportion of people wanted to see the lead character or protagonist be of the male gender. •This would fit with the short films I have seen where the main character is often male e.g. The Black Button, The Black Hole etc.

What narrative structure would you prefer ?

Findings -•Our audience wanted to be predominantly challenged by our narrative as most people suggested that they wanted a structure in which was weak or hard to understand. However the responses were quite tied so it may be worth thinking of a narrative that will challenge the viewer but not to the point where it confuses them.

What type of audio would you prefer ?

Findings -•Our audience wanted to be predominantly challenged by our narrative as most people suggested that they wanted a structure in which was weak or hard to understand. However the responses were quite tied so it may be worth thinking of a narrative that will challenge the viewer but not to the point where it confuses them.

What type of colour scheme would you prefer?

Findings -

•The majority of people asked, explained that they would prefer the colour scheme to make use of Bold strong colours as opposed to bright vibrant colours or a contrast/ use of opposites. The percentage breakdown as follows; 43.3% bold strong colours, 36.7% bright vibrant colours and 20% would like to see the use of opposites.

What type of Fonts would u prefer?

•The use of a unique and different font style was a popular decision here with 15/ 30 (50%) giving this as their response. This would mean possibly conducting further research into font styles that are interesting and unusual to use on our poster.

Where would you prefer the credits to be displayed ?

•The majority of answers here depicted that we shall place the credits below our image on the poster, as most people also suggested this was the most suitable location, as they are less likely to catch the eye.

What type of image would you prefer ?

•We were undecided as opposed to use a real life image or an animated one (such as the one above). Asking this question showed that the majority of people 76.7% would prefer to see a “real image” as this was understandable as they would most likely be able to associate this to the short film more easily.

Would the inclusion of Film Awards increase your chance To watch the Short Film ?

•This question received a very mixed response, whilst 46.7% said yes the use of short film awards on the poster would increase the chance of them going to watch the short film and equal 46.7% didn’t mind. It may be worth brining this question up in our focus group before we make a final verdict.

Would you find the use of images useful when reading a review ?

Findings -•We received quite a strange response we felt on this question with 40% saying “yes” images are useful in reviews and 43.3% saying they didn’t mind. In order to gain a better understanding of what our audience like to see it may be worth bringing this up in our focus group.

What would you prefer to see the short film about ?

Findings -•The majority of people here wanted to here other opinions other than just the reviewers within the review, this would mean referring to quotes from actors maybe what they thought of a particular area of the short film or just about playing the role they had to do.

What would you prefer to see the short film about ?

Findings -•The dominant response here was that our audience were most favoured to reading a synopsis that underlines the brief events of the film as opposed to a synopsis that covers all aspects. As a result in our synopsis we will try to minimalize the word count whilst giving a brief account of the events in the short film.

What would you prefer to see the short film about ?

Findings -•Most people wanted to read a review in which explored other areas other than the actual viewing of the film, 86% combined (On a wider basis and mix of both). This would mean we could scope the review to also feature quotes direct from actors, film making techniques etc.
