Question 1: What is your gender?

From this data, I can conclude that there was equal number of male and females and I believe this was fair as I could get equal

number of opinions from both genders. I handed out my questionnaire to this sample size of male and females.

Question 2: What age group do you belong to?

This question told me the different age groups that filled out the questionnaire. From this, I can conclude that most participants

belonged to the age group ’16-18’. This age group usually associate to genres such as R&B and Pop and this allowed me to think about

the target audience for the music video.

Question 3- What music genre do you like?

This question was based on the different music genres and what people prefer. From the data, it shows that ‘R&B’ was the most liked genre followed by ‘Pop’. This question

was vital to carry out to ensure we target an audience who want to see a video based on ‘R&B’ or ‘Pop’ however it can be argued that this sample was not representative

enough due to the sample size in order to conclude this. To improve this, I could add more genres and ask a larger sample. To conclude, this graph shows that genres such as ‘Jazz’ and ‘Rock’ were not preferred in my sample size therefore will not

consider these during the production of my music video.

Question 4- What TV music channel do you like?

From this piece of data, it can be concluded that most participants like ‘MTV BASE’ and I can assume that they watch music videos and

programmes on this video. However when considering what channel our music video would be promoted in, it would be between MTV,

MTV BASE & Kiss in order to target our suitable audience.

Question 5-What type of music video do you prefer?

This question was to find out about the type of music videos people prefer. From the results, it shows that a large amount (12)

prefer ‘Performance based’ videos. Narrative was also preferred as 10 people liked it. This will allow me to maybe use a combination of performance and narrative in my music video. However the results to this question cannot be accurate because some people

might have not understood the meaning of the three types. To improve, I would make it more clear to the audience.

Question 6- What type of music promotion appeals to you?

This question concluded that 13 promote music via TV adverts followed by 9 which promote through the internet. This was an

interesting question as I will consider how I will promote my video to ensure that it appeals to my particular age group which I will be

targeting.

Question 7- What do you look for in a music CD?

I can analyse from this data that a majority look for their favourite artist on a music CD cover. This will encourage me to make the cover as appealing as possible in order to grab the audiences attention. To improve this question, I would add more options as it was not clear

what the participant meant in the ‘Other’ option.

Question 8-Where do you consume music?

This question was purposely carried out to find out where it would be most useful to distribute our music video in order. It has become the norm that individuals usually consume from the Internet, and this is shown on the

graph. Therefore, I will consider this when it comes to thinking about where audiences consume music. To be more specific, I should have had options

to where online they watch these videos however I assume this is ‘YouTube’ because it is a 24 hour accessible site.

Question 9- What features do you expect to see in a R&B music video?

As I have been considering a music video based on the genre R&B, I thought it would be useful to find out what typical conventions

audiences expect to see in an R&B video. The graph indicates that the audience prefer both genres and choreography as equally as each

other. However to get a broader view into this question I should have added more options and done a similar question to the genre ‘Pop’.
