Q3. What have you learnt from your audience

feedback?

Page 2: Question3

“I think that people are always looking for something that’s new, something

different. My music doesn’t have a specific genre, it’s a fusion of reggae, hip-hop and R&B. People haven’t heard a lot of that, and they seem to like it” Rihanna

“There's a record for every situation from the club to the hot radio joint -- all of the songs have

the feeling of a format that fit into radio, live performance,

video, all of it” Usher

…many artists create music as it’s a way of expressing their feelings and it creates a mutual bond between themselves and not only the audience, but their fans.

As a group, we LOVE music and feel very strongly about it. We wanted to make a music video that interests us and reflects how we feel towards music so that we could share it with people who have the same interests.

We also based our decision by researching who usually requests songs on radio stations and who sends shout outs on music channels.

Therefore, we chose a target audience of people from around the ages 14-18.

We created a questionnaire in order to find out what our target audience likes and their interests. We also wanted to find out what they would like to see in a music video. We constructed a set of questions then interviewed them, recording our findings using a handheld video camera.

We found that…• music is a big part of their lives, they listen to it every day!• a common genre was R&B, by artists such as Chris Brown and Usher• they liked music videos with dancing such as music videos by Michael Jackson

We took all their interests into consideration and this had a huge influence when planning our production task.

We arranged a focus group after making our music video, digipak and magazine advert so that we could receive audience feedback. Our audience was not only the people in our media class but also people outside school within our target audience. This allowed us to receive un-bias criticism and helped us realise what we could improve on.

We developed the way we received audience feedback by posting our music video on YouTube and Facebook, maximising our audience feedback.

We always responded to our audience feedback. We recorded our response with the video camera and used the green screen to make it look more appealing.

The Music Video good editing such as the jump shots, cross-fade, changing speed of clips special effects allow the audience to tell between the dream and reality regularity and continuity is good as the artists costume doesn’t change concepts fit under the genre of R&B

- voice synchronisation out of place in some areas- poor lighting in some shots so its difficult to see what’s going on in the scene e.g partying scene- narrative not very obvious, however could make viewers want to watch it again- some scenes do not make sense or contribute to the narrative- a couple of shots were too long

• rather than using the close ups of the shoes a lot, we could have done more dancing scenes• more dance routines, back up dancers• use light panels for clearer visual imagery

The Magazine Advert Looks fun & vibrant Clear quality, looks professional Definitely goes under the genre of R&B Screen shots from music video create synergy Like the use of the blackberry scan code • The title could be more clearer

The Digipak Good use of colours The black background helps bring out the image Screen shots from music video create synergy - The spine is a bit out of place

• The colours need to match more

We found that the audience feedback was a fundamental element in our journey to creating a

successful music video, digipak and magazine advert. Without it we wouldn’t have been able to

create our production tasks to audience satisfaction and we wouldn't have known what we should and could include. We learned a lot from our audience

feedback and it had a huge influence in the way we produced our products.
