Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

On my first draft for my trailer I made it black and white with some silent text inserts. I wanted the film to look like an old style silent film. I was influenced by Charlie Chaplin and his silent movies. However, I was creatively going off course, redirecting myself in the wrong way. I looked back on my audience research and saw that they wanted colourful images and also wanted moving background loops with text overlays over the background loop. On my fifth edit I created a film teaser trailer that was colourful with text overlays on moving background loops, this trailer connected with my audience feedback and did not divert away from what they wanted. On my final edit I had faster transitions to match my audience needs but I also had slow edits to connect with my film genre, as existing film trailers for family films have slower edits to show emotion within the trailer.

In the last graph you can see that my audience wanted a combination of music and dialogue, So I combined the two. This conveyed the emotion within the trailer as the dog is being picked up.

I asked my audience what they liked most about my trailer and they said they liked the effects most, as they transition well into the next shot and it makes the overall look of the trailer professional.
