My poster tells the story and the narrative of Cloven.

It shows the setting; a rural woodland area, isolated from civilisation. This can be seen through the trees that shroud the scene and stretch for as long as you can see. This is the actual scenery from the film trailer and can be easily identified.

The girl in the foreground is the character of Sam. She’s led in a vulnerable position – exposing herself to the unknown that lurks within the sinister atmosphere.

The faint silhouettes that overlook Sam represent the evil spirits of the Cornovii Tribe that haunt and possess Sam and her friends.

This can also be represented through the words “demons never die” which suggests that the Cornovii cannot be killed, and therefore will resurrect and take their toll on their victims.

My magazine accompanies the poster well; in the sense that it, too, reveals the narrative, but in a much more subtle way.

The main image of Sam shows her divided in two halves; Good vs. Evil. This binary opposite links to the battle between good and evil shown throughout the trailer and also has connotations to the title, Cloven – meaning divided which interlinks with the cloven hood of a goat (which happens to be the devil’s animal)

This can also be seen through the use of fire and how it engulfs her on the left side of the page. The fire relates to hell and the devilish narrative.

Also, the sell line ‘Ellie Reed reveals her dark side’ links to the actor and how she has recently been featured in a horror film rather than her usual genre which, in this case, was romcom.

the logo used in the background of my poster is the mark of the Cornovii tribe. It represents their devilish ways and somewhat looks like the horned beast. It can be found throughout my project; here are some examples:

Here you can see it being written in the book with blood – revealing its resurrection and this also links to the title on my poster.

Here you can see the symbol on the vandalised tent, showing the destruction of safety, defaced by the beast.

The eerie woodland setting can be seen throughout the majority of the trailer showing the groups journey through the forest and their struggle for survival.

In the picture to the left, you can see Sam left unconscious on the cold, woodland floor. This is from the scene shown below.

It implies that the demon spirits, seen in the poster, were present at that time and possess Sam to become the monster you see.

Here you can see how the magazine links in with the trailer by showing the seperation of Sam’s sanity and shows her as the monster she has become.
