How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary

tasks?

QUESTION 2

By Alice Horton

Throughout all three products I have created (dramatic film trailer, poster and magazine cover) I have kept the model used continuous. As I wanted the ancillary tasks to act like a promotion of my main task. When it comes to the still images used, I wanted the model to have similar facial expressions in both poster and magazine cover to provide the portrayal of her character to come through, as the character represented in the trailer is a disturbed, subdued and expressionless individual.

Furthermore I have kept the colour to a minimum within each product to back up the genre, as I felt bright tones and colours would not be best suited for my trailer and ancillary tasks' style. I have stuck to fading out the colours resulting in them looking aged and worn out. I did this on Photoshop CS3 and iMovie when adjusting the tones.

CONTINUOUS STYLE OF EDITING

I then moved the white point needle to a more beige/peach tone to make the cloudy sky more eerie. I did the same look with my poster by adding a layer of maroon and turning the opacity percentage down then toning down the level of saturation to keep the effect continuously throughout my tasks.

Compared with my magazine cover that is in a highly contrasted black and white. This was to compliment the visual effect depicted in my style model.

COMPARING MAGAZINE STYLE MODELS

Contrasting both main magazine front cover images it could be argued I could have made the stare and expression in my model more angry or emotive. The 'Total Films' style model portrait elicits more of a character he must play in the film being promoted.

Both my poster and trailer incorporate the mise en scene of the main prop behind the narrative of the film trailer - the gold detailed necklace.I made sure that within my trailer as it is only 1 minute 46 seconds long that most of the shots presented contained the necklace in some way or other to add clarity to the narrative.
