FRONT COVER

These are some of the magazines that I looked at. I chose to look at NME and I could see a clear design to all of their magazines with the ‘NME’ in the top left corner.http://www.nme.com/magazine

I decided to use this magazine to base mine on. This is because I thought it had a good design to it and it was busy as it had more than one image.

This is my front cover for my magazine. It is a similar design to the NME one however I have used my own colours. I noticed that on the NME cover some of the main writing was the same colour so I used this same idea for my cover. I have also used a similar picture as it is ¾ length and all three people are looking at the camera.

CONTENTS

These are some of the NME magazines that I found. Two of these magazines both have ‘NME THIS WEEK’ along the top and they all have a band index on the side with inside stories on the other side.

I decided to use this contents page as my base as I thought it was well designed. However I felt like it wasn’t busy enough so I added my own touch.

This is my contents page. I used a similar design but with my own touch. This is shown with the blue writing to match by front cover. I also used a solid red colour at the top with a small black line underneath as I thought that it would make the page seem a bit more full and lively.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

Here are the double page spreads that I looked at. There is a main trend that there is an image on one side of the page and writing on the other. There is also a theme of black and white images.

This is the double page spread that I based my DPS on. It isn’t very busy so I decided to add some of my own little details on it.

This is my DPS. It is a similar design to the NME DPS that I based it on. I noticed that the text was wrapped around a text box and a circle box so I did the same for mine. I added my own details as I added a quote on the left hand page and a little added part to the story at the top.

WHOLE THING

Through out my magazine I have used a main colour scheme of blue, red and white.I have also made it link throughout my magazine as the main story on the front cover links to my DPS. Also my page numbers for my DPS match with my contents page.

My band that is on my front cover is followed through my magazine as they are mentioned on my contents and also my story is based on them.
