easy to find and share?
A Student-Run Community Initiative
About• Overwhelmingly positive responses to
“Queen’s Events Project” survey
• QueensEvents.ca Beta launched summer 2012
• Milestone: 20,000 views as of September 2nd
About• Our Goal: to be an inclusive and accessible
resource to the community, so that individuals can get the most out of their (university) life.
• Motto: Get involved. Get ahead. GET STARTED!
What types of events?• Any event open to Queen’s students, within
walking distance of campus
– From Last Lecture on Earth, to ZEDD @ Stages
• To date, 1200+ events have been published!
• Posts are taken down 1-2 weeks after event.
– Although we may not be able to list ALL events, we aim to give students ample opportunities to get involved in their community.

Where do we find events?• Many existing Kingston and Queen’s calendars
• From facebook and twitter
• Directly from event organizers
• From the public “Add Event” feedback form (QueensEvents.ca/add)
What do we do?• We will create a unique page for your event,
including:
– Date, time, location, ticket information
– Link to your website/FB/twitter
– Appears in search results and in categories
– Featured in our calendar “This Week at Queen’s”
Why QueensEvents.ca?• For Students:
a one-stop site for all the academic, career, social, and extracurricular events on campus.
a platform that can be shared, accessed, and easily found.
a place for students to find their niche
Why QueensEvents.ca?• For Event Organizers:
a way to publicize events to the Queen’s community.
a unique calendar of events that includes all schools, faculties, and student groups within Queen’s.
a hub of student activities on-campus and downtown Kingston
How to Add Events?• Anybody can add events!
1. QueensEvents.ca/add – public, fill-in form
2. Tweet @EventsQueens – we’ll RT day-of
3. Backend Access Pass
Backend Access Pass• Best for groups that organize lots of events,
throughout the year
• Features– Create unique username/password
– Schedule events in advance
– Add links to facebook, twitter, your website…
– Add photos/video
– Customize tweets
– Edit posts
