We offer a wide range of workshops, teacher support, production specific events, Insight Days and Arts Award support, and every year we tour a production to primary schools across East London and Essex.

We are constantly developing links between our productions, the people who make them and schools. So take a look, and get involved!

Cinderella’s adventure from rags to riches comes to life in a sparkling pantomime production for all to enjoy.

Some of the greatest folk tales ever told are re-imagined by Shahrazad – a lively young girl who, torn between her old home in Damsacus and her new life in East London, re-tells the extraordinary stories of her childhood…

The production offers many children their first opportunity to experience storytelling and theatre, and is accompanied by a teacher’s resource pack.

Made in Dagenham – The MusicalBook by Richard Bean, music by David Arnold and lyrics by Richard Thomas.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, Made in Dagenham is an uplifting musical comedy about how ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

Creative Masterclass: 1.5hrs | £100 | a class-sized groupMeet renowned creatives of Made in Dagenham, director Douglas Rintoul and musical director Ben Goddard, to discover their roles in creating the production through both discussion and practical work.

Made in Dagenham highlights gender inequality in 1960’s Britain and will involve games and theatrical exercises designed to explore gender roles today, your students’ notion of the female voice, and what this means to them in 2016. Involves theatre making, and creating short pieces of theatre to share at the end of the session.

Verbatim theatre is a form of documentary theatre in which plays are constructed from the precise words spoken by people interviewed about a particular event or topic. Dan Murphy leads a workshop on how to collect, shape and use people’s words for performance.

Learn about our theatre and the process of Page to Stage when one of our team talk about their work, providing an insight into the world of professional theatre and the history of the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch. Acting 101Develop students’ theatrical awareness and skills, and give them a language to develop new stories, characters and ideas. Can be themed to current areas of study.

Classic tales Tailored around a story, fairy tale or mythology of your choice, this fun and fast paced session helps students to further connect with the story while exploring character and themes.

Introduction to Shakespeare Let us lift the lid on Shakespeare and make his stories accessible. A lively and interactive workshop designed to engage young audiences.

A careers event looking at the jobs available in the theatre industry. Professionals who work in various ‘backstage’ or ‘behind-the-scenes’ fields are on hand, to give demonstrations, guidance and advice.

Work experience KS 4 + 5Summer 2017 | individuals by application

We offer a work experience programme each year, which forms an intensive two-week introduction into working in a producing theatre. The programme is available for up to fifteen students per programme.

Audition techniquesKS 5£60 1hr | up to 12 people

A workshop for KS5 students wanting an insight into the audition process, what to expect, and how to prepare.

Monologue preparation KS 5£60 1hr | up to 12 people

A workshop for KS5 students wanting advice and guidance on choosing and preparing a monologue for auditions and exams.

We can offer an expert view on your creative projects for students and teachers alike.

We will provide you with a professional theatre maker who will come in and give guidance for in-school productions or exam pieces, CPD opportunities or anything else which will enhance theatre making and creative practice within the school environment.

You are invited to our…Come and join us on Wed 2 Nov at 6pm. We’re launching our Learning Lounges, you’ll meet industry creatives who’ll give an insight into rehearsal processes and theatre techniques – invaluable tools for the classroom or rehearsal room – and you’ll see a show… for free!

In this session meet the Queen’s Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Rintoul who’ll talk about the upcoming production The Crucible plus guests from the Spring/Summer season – they’ll share creative practice as well
