THE POSITION
bpha is a major housing association operating between Oxford and Cambridge,
based in Bedford. We are a leading provider and developer of affordable homes – for
rent, sheltered, residential care and shared ownership. We own around 17,500
homes, employ 340 people, and had an annual turnover of over £100 million in
2014/15.
In this role you will provide a Professional Pre & Post Contract Administration service
on behalf of bpha or external clients. You will also provide CDM PD services.

Key responsibilities
• Working with clients to ensure that projects are developed, constructed and
completed in accordance with Clients requirements, to cost and within
required timescales
• Working with colleagues to ensure smooth & timely handover of new
properties
• Manage the Contractors, Consultants, Clerk Of Works and Colleagues on site
• To provide advice and assist Clients with regard to alternative forms of
procurement
About you
• Chartered Quantity Surveyor or equivalent
• Proven track record of administering all types of contracts from inception
through to completion
• Good understanding of Building Regulations and planning rules
• Good understanding of Code for Sustainable Homes ratings
• Good understanding of Secured by Design and Design & Quality Standards
• Good understanding of CDM Regulations and the Party Wall Act
• Understanding of Development Managers HCA funding requirements and
knowledge of Construction techniques
• Numerate with excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work without guidance but also be committed to work in a positive
manner with both internal and external stakeholders
THE TEAM
As part of the Technical Services team you will be reporting to the Senior Quantity
Surveyor. You will be part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and sit within the wider
Property Services Team.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
SALARY
This salary range for this position is £43,000-£48,000pa per annum for working 37
hours per week.
Progression is assessed at an annual appraisal in April and increases may be awarded
strictly subject to your meeting specific performance objectives.
Salaries are normally paid by Bank or National Giro credit on the fifteenth of each
month, for the whole of that calendar month.
HOURS
This role is for 37 hours over 5 days. Hours to be agreed with your line manager.
WORK PLACE
You will be based from Bedford Heights, Bedford but will be required to travel to
other locations on a regular basis.

Probationary period
All posts have a six month probationary period and during this time performance

status and length of service.
NOTICE PERIOD
This post is subject to eight weeks notice on either side, following successful
completion of a probationary period.
