Located in North Bay, Ontario, our Refurbishment Division offers more than 150,000 square feet of total refurbishment space.

A mere 225 miles north of Toronto, at therail interchange point of the CNR SouthLine and the CPR Ottawa Valley Line (east/west), Ontario Northland’s convenientlystrategic location allows for the easy and fast transport of client equipment.

In addition to numerous pieces of material handling equipment, including mobile railcar movers and portable cranes, Ontario Northland boasts:

Facilities for Every Project Stage The Shops of Ontario Northland

Car ShopWith our 61,050 square foot Car Shop, we can accommodate an eight station assembly line across four lines of railway track. With truck and component rebuilding areas and a full fabrication/welding shop Ontario Northland has the technical capacity and skilled labour needed to undertake large projects. We also provide on-site storage facilities for segregated project inventories for both new and reconditioned parts.

Locomotive ShopOur 47,735 square foot Locomotive Shop can accommodate 12 to 14 locomotives across two service tracks which are each 436 feet long. Our employees use this space to repair, inspect and build locomotives from the rail up. There are three levels for inspection access, and a 244 foot heavy back shop repair track with a 25 ton capacity overhead crane, and a drop table for the removal of locomotive trucks.

Paint Shop$3.8 million dollars was invested in our paint shop in 2004. This modernization ofthe paint facility means Ontario Northlandhas two 125 foot paint bays capable of supporting virtually any locomotive, freight or passenger railcars.

Our paint shops can also accommodatemotor coach equipment from across the North American market.

Both chemical and grit blast paint removalis available and with strict quality assurance controls in place, our final paint finish is done to the highest standards.

Wheel ShopOur full service refurbishment division offers a full AAR and ISO certified wheel shop capable of re-profiling wheels forlocomotives and rolling stock. Our wheelshop staff have the training and equipmentneeded to rebuild and recondition:

• Traction motors• Locomotive repairs and overhauls• Main and auxiliary generators• Water pumps• Roller bearings• Freight and locomotive air brakes• Freight car trucks• Freight, locomotive and passenger axle reconditioning

GO Transit Recently, Ontario Northland completed a GO Transit refurbishment contract consisting of 121 Bi-Level 3 Coach Cars, Bi-Level 4 Coach Cars, and Cab Cars.

This program was designed to provide a total renewal of all cars components and systems, both inside and out, including paint. The cars were updated to current, new Bi-level car standards.

Rocky MountaineerFull exterior paint job for seven Bi-LevelDome coaches for B.C.’s Rocky Mountaineer was completed in 2012.

This three colour paint job included:

• Sanding, preparing and body work • Colour matching using DuPont Imron

Elite Paint System.• Full finish and painting of the roof of each car• Logos, work marks and numbering

painted onto the cars• Rust protection in vulnerable areas• Painting of the undercarriage (except wheels and bearings)• Heavy clear coat applied to the exterior

finish for UV protection

Ontario Northland has developed a proprietary, computer-based RefurbishmentResource Planning System. Our system allows us to track parts, job tasks, drawings, blueprints, schematics and all work procedures for every job.

Our System:

• Optimizes capacity planning of resources by supporting pre-planning and task scheduling, assignment of multiple trades, bills of material processing and production control.

• Provides document management and maintains control of all drawings, technical procedures, and test inspections.

• Tracks current and historic document revisions, approvals, status, car configuration, management change notices and exceptions as well as document release authorizations to production.
