INTRODUCTION INTERVALVE, your supplier for heavy-duty high-pressure and temperature-resistant valves, is a fully integrated business unit within Sempell AG including all the capabilities necessary to design and manufacture state-of-the-art valves to the highest international standards. The manufacturing of valves at the INTERVALVE Company started in 1981 after the well-known Dutch valve manufacturer “DIKKERS” closed down. Due to the constantly growing demand for these valves, the fabrication responsibility was transferred in 2008 to the Sempell plant in Germany. The staff of Sempell has over 135 years of experience and “know-how” in valve design, fabrication and service for power and process applications. This knowledge about applications coupled with the knowledge regarding quality needs is the basis to provide flow solutions to match your application requirements, which is just one of our core competencies. Procurement of all raw materials, auditing of suppliers and material test requirements are described in our Quality system. Our own quality management as well as third parties are frequently on-site at our key suppliers such as foundries. Random inspections of the other suppliers are also conducted. Castings are procured with chemical and physical analyses including liquid penetrate, ultrasonic, magnetic particle and radiographic examinations. All goods are extensively tested on arrival to ensure they fulfill all procurement requirements. During fabrication and before leaving the plant, every item is inspected and tested to the appropriate standards and specification requirements and certified accordingly. The machine shop of the plant located in Korschenbroich, Germany alone is 25,000 m² and is equipped with 3 multi-axis machining centers for bodies up to 5 tons and nine additional machining centers for items up to 1 ton. Two sub-arc welding machines for components up to 7 tons, a welding robot for seat hard-facing, two plasma-arc welding machines as well as further manual welding stations comprise our second core competence. The plant has the most up-to-date valve testing facilities available including water and steam test rigs, with full ASME Certification. The largest test bench facilitates hydro testing of valves having a 1200 mm (48”) nominal size and a 3000 mm (120”) overall length with a maximum test pressure up to 110 MPag (15900 psig). State-of-the-art computerized systems for monitoring and guiding material flow ensure reliable and just-in-time processes. 190.000 annual production hours and a three-shift operation enable us to ensure our on-time delivery. The combination of reliability, quality performance, documentation and fair pricing are all part of our third core competence in fulfilling your needs. To support the life cycle of the installed base, our Sempell Service engineers as well as the global Tyco Service organization all over the world is available to support your application with maintenance and/or repair work. All Sempell Service, and predominantly the global Tyco Service organization, is factory-trained on a permanent base. In addition, mobile machinery is available to service your high pressure valves on-line and on-site. This catalog presents our product program of high-pressure gate, globe and check valves for pressures according to ANSI class 600 lbs. and above. CODES, STANDARDS AND MATERIAL CHOICE The INTERVALVE range of high pressure valves is designed, rated, manufactured and tested in accordance with the following international standards, latest editions: • ASME / ANSI B16.34 - VALVES - flanged and butt welding end. • ASME / ANSI B16.10 - “Face to Face” and “End to End” dimensions. • Applicable section of ASME boiler and pressure vessel code. • Applicable section of ASTM / ASME / TRD / EN material specifications. • Appropriate visual testing MSS SP 55. • Appropriate standard API 598. • DIN EN 12266 and BS 6755 for hydrostatic testing.

INTERVALVE high pressure steel valves can be supplied with material certificates for the pressure retaining parts in accordance with EN10204:2005 3.1 / 3.2

Hydrostatic testing can be witnessed by third party inspection agencies like: o “TÜV” o “Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd.” o “Bureau VERITAS” o and others

General Information DOUBLE FLEXIBLE WEDGE The double flexible wedge is used as a standard in the INTERVALVE high-pressure gate valve. It is a one-piece flexible wedge with a conical shape and hard-faced sealing surfaces, featuring a downstream as well as an upstream sealing between wedge and seats. The wedge blades are circumferentially symmetrical in order to ensure a complete distribution of forces and to ensure that possible irregularities of alignment can be compensated. The flexibility of this wedge is based upon the design and elasticity of the material. PARALLEL SLIDE The closing of a parallel slide gate valve is achieved by positioning the discs between the seat faces in the valve body. The pressure differential across the disc forces the outlet disc against the outlet seat, creating a tight seal. The travel of the stem is limited by the backseat in open and the stem stop in closed position. In contrast to a wedge gate valve, the parallel slide gate valve is closed by means of its position. BODY The body of the high-pressure valve is designed as a one-piece steel casting with smooth inside contours providing maximum flow efficiency. By using body patterns with interchangeable ends, all end connections as required by specifications (butt welding or flanged) to optimize the price structure can be provided. The body has an integral cast guiding system to guide the wedge fully throughout the valve stroke. When using high alloy steel piping the valves can be assembled with transition pieces of the same or equal material welded to the valve body. WELDED-IN SEAT RINGS Seat rings are welded into the valve body and are provided with a hard-faced sealing to assure better wear and longer valve life. Sealing surfaces are oversized to have sufficient wear travel resulting in a longer lifetime. PRESSURE SEAL Our range of high-pressure steel valves is the pressure sealed type with graphite gasket. The graphite pressure seal gasket prevents any tendency towards corrosion in the area responsible for tightening the valve. The stainless steel protection caps on the gasket prevent the graphite from being forced into the space between the various valve parts. The spacer ring above of the gasket ensures an even distribution of forces over the complete circumference of the gasket. In order to pre-stress the pressure seal gasket during assembly a bonnet retaining ring is placed on the upper part of the valve body and by use of the retaining studs, connecting this ring to the bonnet, pre-stressing of the pressure seal gasket can be obtained. BACKSEAT The bonnet of the high-pressure globe valve has an integral backseat design with hard-facings and provides tight sealabilty due to contact between the stem tapered shoulder and the backseat. Backseating of the valve results in positive isolation of the stuffing box from the pressure area in case of packing failure. NON-ROTATING RISING STEM The INTERVALVE stem is a non-rotating rising stem design. The threads are trapezoidal

STUFFING BOX PACKING For an adequate stem sealing, the INTERVALVE high-pressure gate valves are equipped with high temperature-resistant and high quality precompressed rings of graphite packing including top and bottom ring consisting of laminated stainless steel graphite rings. YOKE The yoke is a four-legged design, which provides a fully symmetrical loading to the valve body-yoke connection and avoids asymmetrical loading to the body neck. The four-legged design allows easy access to the bolting and entry to the stuffing box for possible packing inspection and/or replacement. The design also provides the possibility to change the means of operating the valve, such as the handwheel, gearbox or actuator, without disassembling the valve or adapting valve parts.

General Information The INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valves are designed and manufactured in two different body shape types, namely the T-type body globe valve for nominal sizes up to and including 5 inches and the Y-type body globe valve for all sizes above. All valves are available in the pressure classes 900 lbs., 1500 lbs. and 2500 lbs. Both types have a pressure sealed body-bonnet connection. To ease the operation from the gangway, all valves are preferably mounted with the yoke in an upright position in the line. T-TYPE GLOBE VALVE Standard globe valve with the yoke and stem/disc assembly in a 90° angle to the medium flow. Y-TYPE GLOBE VALVE Globe valve with the yoke and stem/disc assembly at a 45° angle to the medium flow. This design allows the smallest possible pressure drop in fully open position across the seat of a globe valve. STANDARD GLOBE VALVE Compared to a gate valve the sealing surface of the globe valve, while isolating operation against differential pressure, will not be extensively stressed. The maximum flow rate will be reached at nearly ¼ of the entire stroke of the valve. This permits short stroke times. REGULATING GLOBE VALVE The Regulating Globe Valve makes it possible to specifically set the pressure on the downstream of this valve. This function supports a manual intervention to the process. PISTON CHECK GLOBE VALVE The Piston Check Globe Valve is a medium-operated non-return valve. The valve is to be mounted with the bonnet in a vertical position to the line. This also allows for an easy on-site inspection. STOP-CHECK GLOBE VALVE The Stop-Check Globe Valve is a medium-operated non-return valve with isolating function. The stem disc-assembly is a non-fixed design. To ease inspections, the valve is to be mounted with the bonnet in a vertical position to the line. ELBOWDOWN STOP-CHECK GLOBE VALVE The Elbowdown (angle-type) Stop-Check Globe Valve is also available for nominal sizes 6 inches and above. The design features are identical of those of the Stop-Check Globe Valve. BODY The body of the high-pressure globe valve is designed as a one-piece steel casting with smooth inside contours providing maximum flow efficiency. By using body patterns with interchangeable ends, all end connections as required by specifications (butt welding or flanged) can be provided. When using high alloy steel piping the valves can be assembled with transition pieces of the same or equal material welded to the valve body. INTEGRAL SEAT The conical seat is directly machined in the valve body and provided with a hard-faced sealing surface assuring better wear and longer valve life. The design of the INTERVALVE globe valves makes it possible to renew the hard-facing of the seat on site.

BODY GUIDED DISC-ASSEMBLY Throughout the entire valve body, the INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valve disc-assembly is guided at the top of the disc bushing and the bottom of the disc by equally spaced guiding ribs. The ribs are integral hard faced to guide the disc throughout travel. PRESSURE SEAL The INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valve has a pressure seal construction which utilizes the fluid medium pressure to exert an extra force on the pressure seal gasket, thus ensuring that good sealing is obtained against that same fluid. The chosen graphite pressure seal gasket prevents any tendency towards corrosion in the pressure seal area of the body. The stainless steel protection caps on the gasket prevent the graphite from being forced into the space between the various valve parts. The spacer ring above the gasket ensures an even distribution of forces over the complete circumferences of the gasket. In order to pre-stress the pressure seal gasket during assembly a bonnet retaining ring is placed on the upper part of the valve body and by use of the retaining studs, connecting this ring to the bonnet, pre-stressing of the pressure seal gasket can be obtained. (This pre-stress principle is used for nominal sizes 10 inches and above). For T-Type globe valve and the nominal sizes 6 and 8 inches of the Y-type globe valve the bonnet retaining ring is screwed onto the bonnet and by use of the retaining studs supporting the bonnet retaining ring on the valve body, pre-stressing of the pressure seal gasket can be obtained BACKSEAT The bonnet of the high-pressure globe valve has an integral backseat design with hard-facings and provides tight sealabilty due to contact between the stem tapered shoulder and the backseat. Backseating of the valve results in positive isolation of the stuffing box from the pressure area in case of packing failure. NON-ROTATING RISING STEM The INTERVALVE stem is a non-rotating rising stem design. The threads are trapezoidal. STUFFING BOX PACKING For an adequate stem sealing the INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valves are equipped with high temperature-resistant and high quality precompressed rings of graphite packing including top and bottom ring consisting of laminated stainless steel graphite rings. YOKE The yoke is a four-legged design, which gives a fully symmetrical loading to the valve body-yoke connection and avoids asymmetrical loading to the body neck. The four-legged design allows easy access to the bolting and entry to the stuffing box for possible packing inspection and/or replacement. The design also provides the possibility to change the means of operating the valve, such as handwheel, gearbox or actuator, without disassembling the valve or adapting valve parts. BALANCE PIPE The piston- and the stop-check valve designs are provided with a balance pipe. To reduce the pressure drop and to prevent wear producing turbulence the equalizing system connects the relatively high-pressure zone above the disc with the lower pressure in the valve outlet and acts as a pressure balancing system. This reduces the pressure above the disc and as a result causes higher pressure below the disc to raise the disc-assembly to full lift.

General Information The INTERVALVE high-pressure check valves are designed and manufactured in two different types namely: Swing- and Tilting Disc Check Valves. • The Swing Check Valve has a pressure seal body cover connection and is available in the pressure

classes 900 lbs. and 1500 lbs. • The Tilting Disc Check Valve has a pressure seal body-cover connection and is available in the pressure

classes 1500 lbs. and 2500 lbs. SWING CHECK VALVE The Swing Check disc is connected to the body by means of a hinge. The position of the two rotating axes guarantees a proper alignment and sealing of the disc on the seat. TILTING DISC CHECK VALVE The INTERVALVE high-pressure Tilting Disc Check Valve is designed to close as fast as possible with minimal noise, damaging, slamming and vibrations. The quick closing is achieved through a combination of design and construction features. To assure quick closing the disc pivot is located close to the center of gravity of the disc, thereby creating a minimum pendulum period. The disc is dome-shaped and streamlined to avoid a hesitation in disc movement and to create a smooth low friction area in the open position. The disc pivots on pin supports having hard-faced bearings for minimum friction. Totally enclosed torsion springs in the pivot pins help speed the closing action, although the disc is sufficiently counterweighted to close automatically without aid from the springs whether the valve is in a vertical or horizontal position. At zero velocity, gravity aided by torsion springs within the pivot pins tilts the disc into the closed position and the disc face (inner cone) settles into seat (outer cone). Since the springs are fully enclosed in the pins, they are not subject to possible erosive effects of line fluids. Furthermore, the construction does not include any bolting in the flow stream. BODY The body of the high-pressure check valve is designed as a one-piece steel casting with smooth inside contours providing maximum flow efficiency. WELDED IN SEAT RING The seat is welded into the valve body preventing leakage between seat and body and is provided with a hard-faced sealing to assure better wear and longer valve life time.

DISC-ASSEMBLY (SWING CHECK VALVE) The disc-assembly of the high-pressure swing type check valve includes a flat disc with a hard-faced sealing surface and a hinge which is connected to the disc and the body by means of hinge pins, locked with stainless steel split pins. In the open position the disc creates an undisturbed flow area. PRESSURE SEAL The INTERVALVE high-pressure check valve has a pressure seal construction which utilizes the fluid medium pressure to exert an extra force on the pressure seal gasket, thus ensuring that good sealing is obtained against that same fluid. The chosen graphite pressure seal gasket prevents any tendency towards corrosion in the pressure seal area of the body. The stainless steel protection caps on the gasket prevent the graphite from being forced into the space between the various valve parts. The spacer ring above the gasket ensures an even distribution of forces over the complete circumferences of the gasket. In order to pre-stress the pressure seal gasket during assembly a cover retaining ring is placed on the upper part of the valve body and by use of the retaining studs, connecting this ring to the bonnet, pre-stressing of the pressure seal gasket can be obtained.

ACCESSORIES VALVES WITH ACTUATORS OR HAND GEAR OPERATORS As standard, INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valves are furnished with handwheels. Operating conditions or customer specifications may require different types of means of operation. In this case, INTERVALVE will recommend and provide bevel or spur gearing, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuators, according to internal standards or customer requirements. CHAIN WHEELS Chain wheels can be supplied for INTERVALVE valves from size 2 inches and above. LOCKING DEVICE FOR VALVES The INTERVALVE valves can be provided with a locking device. LIMIT SWITCHES Limit switches can be mounted on the yoke of the valves. YOKE BUSHING For ease in hand operation INTERVALVE high-pressure globe valves can be supplied with needle bearings in the yoke bushing. A grease nipple is provided for maintenance purposes. The aluminum bronze alloy material of the bushing has been selected because of its extremely good properties. BYPASS Valves can be provided with bypasses for preheating and/or pressurizing of the downstream. The bypass can be provided either as a plain bypass or with a globe valve. EQUALIZING For the equalizing of the bonnet chamber to the up- or to the downstream, INTERVALVE valves can be provided with equalizing pipes with globe or gate valves. DRAINS To facilitate the removal of condensate from the lowest point of the valve/pipe INTERVALVE offers the possibility to add drains to the body. RELIEF DEVICE While heating up the fluid system the downstream as well as the upstream sealing of the wedge may cause an overpressure in the valve body cavity. The INTERVALVE high-pressure gate valve can be provided with a relief device mounted on the valve bonnet to prevent this overpressure. The outside connection between the bonnet and relief device contains a pig-tail tube to safeguard the relief device against high temperatures. In the backseat position the relief device is pressureless and enables repair and/or replacement if necessary. LIVE LOAD SYSTEM The packing can be optionally delivered with a Live Load System. By using Belleville spring washers the packing system will retighten by itselfs. VALVES FOR SPECIAL SERVICES Valves can be offered without “copper parts” if required for ammonia and other fluids.
