Our largest fundraiser of the year, The Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to the Portsmouth Music Hall every February. The Festival is one of the most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. Through these films, attendees travel to exotic landscapes and remote cultures and get up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports. Each World Tour is a unique, exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.
Mark your Calendars for Friday, March 28th, 2014 and join us at Rivermill at Dover Landing for a fun night of local rock featuring “Revolving Door.” Rock the night away for a great cause. All proceeds benefit Goodwin Community Health. Check our website for ticket details.
Ross Furniture and Margaritas of Dover set the stage for fun at this dad themed, family-friendly, run/walk that takes place annually on Father’s Day. The course is USATF certified and kick-off is at 8:30 am. After the race, it’s a Margaritas’ style party of food, fun, and fiesta that you don’t want to miss! Proceeds help local families gain access to quality health care through Goodwin Community Health. Participants are encouraged to wear a necktie to honor the men that have touched their lives. Our next Father’s Day 5K is on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Visit GoodwinCH.org for details and registration.

Improvement
Welcoming TuftsStarting in the summer of 2014 the Goodwin Dental Center will proudly partner with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Goodwin will be hosting 4th year dental students to complete an extension of their training with our dentists and dental team. We are excited to enrich our dental program with this affiliation.
Championing SBIRTGoodwin Community Health looks forward to being the first in the State to implement Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for Adolescents. This comes on the heels of our successful roll out of Adult SBIRT in a primary care setting. Our pilot work with SBIRT has been recognized as the catalyst for getting funding for a large-scale, statewide rollout of the groundbreaking program.
More Convenient Hours
In 2013 we added primary care walk-in service and now have walk-in hours every Monday-Friday from 8:00am -11:30am. The Goodwin Dental Center sees walk-in patients every Monday –Friday from 8:00am-11:30am. In 2014 we will continue to increase efforts to meet patient needs for convenience, by expanding office hours to include Saturday appointments.
Navigating the ExchangeGuiding our community in navigating the complex Health Insurance Exchange will remain a priority at Goodwin Community Health. With four trained and certified enrollment specialists now on staff, Goodwin Community Health will strive to help more people gain Medicaid or private health insurance coverage.
Teen Center ReturnsWe have secured funding to reopen our “Teen Center” every Tuesday from 3:00 -5:00pm. Teens can now have their own special time to visit Goodwin for a positive, nurturing, and confidential setting to address teen issues.
our missionGoodwin Community Health is the only 501(c) (3) Community Health Center serving the Greater Strafford County area of New Hampshire and Maine. We make it affordable for local people to access the wellness services and quality primary care that lead to good Physical, Dental, and Behavioral Health. Goodwin Community Health operates on the same principles Mrs. Avis Goodwin started the organization with 44 years ago – everyone deserves access to quality health care, at an affordable price.

2013 Annual Report
Dear Friends,
Goodwin Community Health’s Fiscal Year 2013 Report shares our success in leading change and broadening access of local health care. We are especially proud to be achieving these results during an era of health reform and social and economic uncertainty.
Over the past year, we’ve engaged in pilot programs including evidenced based interventions that will improve the health of the communities we serve and control the growth of health care expenditures. We made strong in-roads providing a medical home for patients with chronic disease who were frequently visiting emergency rooms because they didn’t have a primary care provider. We introduced innovative substance misuse screening programs into primary care, and expanded access to primary care services that are affordable to all people in our communities.
In the year ahead we will proudly partner with Tufts University’s Dental program and will begin providing clinical rotations for dental students beginning this summer. We will also continue to address our key priority of helping our community navigate changes to health insurance coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act. These are uncertain times in health care that bring both opportunities and challenges to staff and patients alike. We see opportunity for a healthier Strafford County with less health disparities as more people gain Medicaid or private health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchange.
Looking ahead to 2014, we will continue our work to refine the Goodwin experience so every patient and visitor may positively experience the values we embrace, the services we provide and better health. We are ready for what lies ahead. With your help, and the generous support of our community, we will do more for the people who need us.
