Abstract

It is noted that since the strength of a structure is a random variable, it is necessary to exercise good quality control on the various aspects of construction work which affect that parameter in order to minimize its variability.

We are examine various aspects of quality control as they affect the safety of structural concrete buildings.

There are different methods to control quality like Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Introduction

With an evolution and advancement in this era there has been an urge in the development of the various entities and to meet or compensate this there has been a fast track boost in the manufacturing sector.

People are ready to pay a huge amount but are looking forward for the desired quality in the construction patterns.

Now Construction Industry is also a manufacturing sector in the core terms. Over here this manufacturing is a prolonged process, but now the standard of living has boosted of every individual living in urban areas.

Quality Control

Definition

QA is a set of activities for ensuring quality in the processes by which products are developed.

QC is a set of activities for ensuring quality in products. The activities focus on identifying defects in the actual products produced.

Focus on

QA aims to prevent defects with a focus on the process used to make the product. It is a proactive quality process.

QC aims to identify (and correct) defects in the finished product. Quality control, therefore, is a reactive process.

GoalThe goal of QA is to improve development and test processes so that defects do not arise when the product is being developed.

The goal of QC is to identify defects after a product is developed and before it's released.

Page 9: Quality Control & Quality Assurance.pptx

Quality Control

The ability to make the same thing the same way, over and over again

Customer buys today is same as what they bought last week or will buy next week

Product meets customer’s expectations 100% of the time

Page 10: Quality Control & Quality Assurance.pptx

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in manufactured products and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers.

QA is applied to physical products in pre-production to verify what will be made meets specifications and requirements, and during manufacturing production runs by validating lot samples meet specified quality controls.

Page 11: Quality Control & Quality Assurance.pptx

Quality Analysis

Examination of the quality goals of a product or service .

Quality analysis is done for finding out defect in product.

Quality analysis help to identify existing solution.

The ultimate use of quality analysis is to give quality data in hands of user.

Overview of construction industry in India

The construction industry is the second largest industry of the country after agriculture.

The Construction industry of India is an important indicator of the development as it creates investment opportunities across various related sectors.

The sector is labor-intensive and, including indirect jobs, provides employment to more than 35 million people.

India is the second fastest growing economy in the world.

Construction accounts for nearly 65 per cent of the total investment in infrastructure.

Real Estate is a €8 billion or Rs. 558.94 billion (by revenue) Industry in India.

Real Estate is linked to about 250 ancillary industries like cement, brick and steel through backward and forward linkages.

Opportunities in the Indian construction industry

The Indian real estate industry is likely to grow from Rs. 490.03 billion in 2005 to Rs. 4,060.24 billion in by 2015.

Foreign direct investment alone might see a close to six-fold jump to

Rs. 1,329.96 billion over the next 10 years.

CONCLUSION

All the parameters and clauses mentioned in the questionnaire show equal importance for achieving the total quality, but according to the AHP Analysis we can make a conclusion that organization and structure of the company that is maintenance and quality control division have a very low weightage which highlights that the above parameter lacks its formation which is causing a setback in the achievement of the working quality.

The second parameter which has the highest weightage and ranking that is quality control laboratory gives us a true impression that the quality control of the materials while execution achieves the desired standards.

But altogether all the parameters are very much important for the achievement of the quality during the middle stage construction order.
