Selecting a ModelWith the use of our easy to follow model coding system, we’ve taken the hassle out of combing through model variations and options. Simply answer three basic questions based on your desired features and match up those answers with the codes found on page 5 to find the model right for you!

AdjustableSwivel or Fixed Position Board?

Our premium electric feature allows you to plug your iron directly into the unit. Electrical features are UL listed and include a 60-minute motor timer, spotlight, outlet, and a safety disconnect switch that automatically cuts the power to the unit when the board is returned upright. Keep your iron plugged in at all times, ready to use.

Planning an installation with a nearby outlet? Our non-electric option is perfect for installations where the electric is hard to access or an electrical outlet is already nearby.

Electric or Non-Electric?

The 180-degree Adjustable Swivel feature allows the board to turn left or right with five stopping positions, and includes a 4-inch height adjustment so you can find the most comfortable ironing position.

The Fixed Position, non-swiveling board folds down in front of the unit for one stationary ironing position.

Our Rough-In Kit provides a template to install drywall around, leaving the perfect

hole to install your ironing center.

Using the charts provided, determine the mounting height above floor (the distance between the floor and the bottom of the cabinet). First choose your desired ironing board height, then locate mounting height. As a guide, typical ironing height is about 34”-36” off the floor.

Step One: Determine Mounting Height

Using a stud finder, locate the wall studs to be used for mounting.

Locate the existing wiring or other utilities in the wall to prevent drilling into or severing a wire and/or other utilities during installation.

Refer to the provided chart below to ensure adequate clearance for ironing. The cabinet door opens at 180 degrees; allow 16” from side of cabinet for door to fully open.

Step Two: Ensure Adequate Space Step Three: Locate Studs & Utilities

1). CUT WALL OPENINGCut an opening into the wall based on unit dimensions given below:

2). ATTACH CLEATSAttach a 2” x 4” cross support cleat between the studs, level with the bottom of the opening. This will give support while installing the cabinet.

3). PRE-DRILL HOLESYour unit will be attached to the studs by screws in the upper and lower sides of the cabinet.

[AE46, AE42, E46, E42, UD42: Remove electrical raceway before proceeding by removing screws at the top and bottom.

SWIVEL UNITS:To prepare the cabinet, pre-drill holes with a 1/8” drill bit into the sides of the cabinet, 14” from the top and 21/2” from the back.

Locate side ironing board brackets that are secured to cabinet with three screws. Then remove the top screw from each bracket. This is where the bottom part of your cabinet will be secured to the studs.

Pre-drill holes with an 1/8” drill bit into the cabinet using the holes in side brackets where screws were just removed.

NON-SWIVEL UNITS:To prepare the cabinet, pre-drill holes with a 1/8” drill bit into the sides of the cabinet, 14” from the top and

21/2” from the back. Then pre-drill holes in the sides of the cabinet, 14” from bottom, 21/2” from back.

ELECTRICAL MODELS:Refer to electrical instructions on pg. 23 before proceeding to next step.

NON-ELECTRICAL MODELS:Proceed to next step. DO NOT attempt to install your own electrical outlet inside unit. Warranty is voided if independent electrical is installed.

4). INSTALL UNIT INTO WALLBegin installation by carefully lifting unit into the wall opening. Make sure the cabinet is plumb and level. If needed, add shims to help unit fit space.

5). ATTACH CABINET TO STUDSUsing the pre-drilled holes in top of cabinet, attach unit to studs with two #10 x 11/2” screws for top installation.

6). FINISH INSTALLATIONFinish installation by inserting the #14 x 21/2” screws in bottom pre-drilled holes.

ELECTRICAL MODELS:Please refer back to electrical instructions (pg. 24, step 3) to complete the electrical part of your installation.

7). INSTALLATION COMPLETE!Cabinet is now fully installed! If desired, decorative trim or molding may be added to cover any irregularities in the wall.

Unit installed directly on a wall, centered on a single 2x4 stud.

1). PREPARE CABINETScrews will be drilled through the upper and lower cross brace inside the cabinet. Do not attempt to drill into hard board of cabinet.

Determine location of screws, ensuring that the location of the mounting screw is as close to the center of the cabinet as possible.

2). PRE-DRILL PILOT HOLESUsing a 1/4” drill bit, pre-drill holes in the upper and lower cross braces inside the cabinet as determined in previous step. Ensure that the holes in both braces are drilled to the same measurement.

3). LOCATE & MARK STUDUsing a stud finder, locate stud in wall and mark the wall according to the pre-drilled holes in cabinet. Setting cabinet aside, pre-drill holes in wall using a 1/4” drill bit.

4). PARTIALLY INSERT SCREWPartially insert a #14 x 4” screw in the upper cross brace of the ironing center.

ELECTRICAL MODELSRefer to electrical instructions on page 23before proceeding to next step.

NON-ELECTRICAL MODELS:Proceed to next step. DO NOT attempt to install your own electrical to unit. Warranty is voided if independent electrical is installed.

5). INSTALL UNITBegin installation by carefully lifting unit into position. Then, attach the cabinet to the wall by fully inserting the screw in the upper cross brace into the wall stud. Make sure the unit is plumb and level. Shim if necessary. Fully tighten installation screw.

6). INSERT SECOND SCREWInsert the second #14 x 4” screw into the pre-drilled hole in the bottom brace of the cabinet and attach to wall making sure cabinet remains square and level.

ELECTRICAL MODELS:Please refer back to electrical instructions (pg. 24, step 3) to complete the electrical part of your installation.

7). ADD TRIMDecorative trim or molding can now be added to make cabinet sides flush with the face frame.

For your conveniece, a Surface Mount Trim Kit is available as an add-on part.

SWIVEL UNITS ONLY:Locate side ironing board brackets that are secured to cabinet with three screws. Then remove the top screw from each bracket. Replace with a #14 x 3/4” Phillips screw (not supplied). This will add stability long-term.

8.) INSTALLATION COMPLETECabinet is now fully installed!

1). REMOVE ELECTRICAL KNOCKOUTOpen the front cover of the raceway by removing the screw at the top and bottom of the raceway.

Locate the electrical knockout, as specified on the provided diagrams.

Install a 3/8” romex connector where the knockout was removed.

beginning electrical installation. ALL electrical must comply with local and national codes. If you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring, please contact a qualified electrician to complete

this portion of installation.

2. INSTALL ELECTRICAL WIRINGVerify that there is ample supply wire available to run from the top of the ironing center to the approximate location of electrical pigtails.

Note: A free wire length of 48” is recommended.

Begin to place the ironing center into its location while feeding the supply wire through electrical knockout, and the 3/8” romex connector through the back of the raceway.

Refer back to installation instructions (pg. 21 for recesssed, pg. 22 for surface mounting) before completing final steps.

3. CONNECT WIRESConnect all power supply wires and ground wires in accordance with electrical codes. Trim supply wire as necessary.

4. REPLACE ELECTRICAL RACEWAYPlace the raceway cover into position, ensuring that no wires are pinched. Reinstall the top and bottom screw to secure in place.

Reconnect power supply and return to installation instructions (pg. 21 for recesssed, pg. 22 for surface mounting).

Review the specifications for your model of choice and verify that your intended location will provide adequate space. Measure and ensure that you have the proper clearance for the board, allowing enough standing room beside the board to iron comfortably. Research and planning will help provide an easy installation process, with no surprises. Your decision to incorporate a built-in ironing center will manage space, add convenience, and achieve the results you want when ironing with less effort.
