The new Alstom Academy for Rail will support up to 65 apprenticeship places in its first year, 30 of which are upskilling places for our current Alstom employees. By year 3 we aim to deliver up to 15,000 training days per year covering a wide spectrum of sector relevant subjects, short-courses and recognised qualifications to address the current and future skills shortage challenges in the UK rail industry.

Our mission:

• To be the key strategic enabler to support modernisation and innovation in the industry and the supply chain, offer world class training facilities, attracting the best talent and delivering tomorrow’s future leaders

• To become globally recognised for vocational skills development in transport, pioneering with apprenticeships, leadership within service, manufacturing and operational environments and digital advancements preparing the way for the digital railway and the multi-sector integrated/ seamless transport systems of tomorrow

• To be at the forefront of addressing productivity in the rail industry through thought leadership and taking action

Alstom Academy for Rail provides a wide range of training and people development courses, to assist and improve the qualification and skill levels of the wider UK rail sector. Based in the state of the art North West Transport Technology Centre, the UK’s largest Modernisation Facility, the Alstom Academy for Rail opens in September 2017.

Alstom’s investment in the Academy for Rail will address the skills shortage in the rail industry and help to train and harness innovation in a world class environment for the rail engineers of the future and the move to the Digital Railway.

Alstom Academy for Rail

ALSTOM UK & IRELAND AT A GLANCE

Projects Ongoing

• Services: Alstom maintains and overhauls the entire UK & Ireland Pendolino, Northern Line and Citadis fleets, plus a range of other rolling stock.

• Crossrail: The Alstom-led ATC joint venture is

currently fitting out 21km of twin Crossrail tunnels under London.

• Signalling: Alstom is delivering innovative new

solutions to provide signalling for Crossrail outside the main tunnel, and is delivering Network Rail’s Bristol Area Signalling Renewal & Enhancement.

• Electrification: The ABC consortium is the UK’s

biggest electrification provider, currently working on the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Project.
