Greetings in the Name of Christ! Hello Friends — We received a letter from our Regional Church office

about a new need that has arisen at the camp. Please respond as you are

able! Thanks

Dear Church,

I'm writing to tell you about a pressing need we have at the Christian Conference Center. After over 50 years of use, the flat roof over the Dining Hall has fi-nally given us all the years it has to give.

The total base bid for the replacement of the roof is $71,000. There may be additional work needed.

This is not the sort of camp update that I like to send out to you all. However, it is a pressing need as we cannot operate our kitchen or dining facilities with a perpetual roof leak. You, our churches and our friends, have always supported us so faithfully and we have trust that this will be the case again. I hope you will help us spread the news about this great need at the Christian Conference Center.

If you would like to donate toward this project, you can go here: https://docgeneralassembly.webconnex.com/rooffund. You can also send a check to the Christian Conference Center, 5064 Lincoln St., Newton, IA 50208 with "roof project" in the memo. Thank you for your continued support of the ministry at the Christian Conference Center! The rest of the staff and I covet your prayers as we undertake this project.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace,

Rev. Tiff Williams Associate Regional Minister Director of Camp and Conference Center Ministries Christian Church in the Upper Midwest Cell: 641-521-3115

Our Journey Together Rev. John Richardson,

Interim Regional Minister and President

Interim Regional Minister and President

Dear Upper Midwest Disciples of Christ: Greetings to all! I once described the Bible as a travel journal—a travel journal of individuals, families, and tribes, describing for us their experience as people who travel on a long, long journey: a journey of people traveling toward a destination that is never quite reached; a journey off people seeking to return to that from which we have come; a journey we never completely understand or appreciate—and yet still the things we experience along the way are the very purpose of the journey. In many ways the Bible is still the journal of the journey we travel—the journal of LOVE. As a regional church we are on a journey through a time of transition. Regional minister leadership transition has not happened here for many years, and that is a good thing. But lack of familiarity may cause some anxiety: Will anyone be interested in the position? Are other regions searching for a new regional minister? When will the search for our next regional minister end? Who is the next regional minister going to be?

Collecting Reconciliation Offering on

Sunday, October 6 & 13 we will receive our reconciliation offering. These gifts help

support continued efforts in our denomination and region toward being and becoming an

anti-racist/pro- reconciling church. Please give generously.

Board Meeting Monday October 14

6:30 PM Gathering Room

Our Journey Together—Richardson con’t Some of your questions can be answered…some cannot. At least, now. But keep asking ques-tions. More importantly, when you are invited to a meeting to share your hopes and dreams about future regional ministry in the Upper Midwest Christian Church, please make every effort to attend.

And remember. Traveling together makes the journey more enjoyable. Especially when we travel in faith and with love.

Peace, John
