Today’s reading speaks of the end of the world

and the coming of the kingdom.

The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship says clearly that

“that ‘life to come’ is in continuity with this present life

through the human goods, the worthy human purposes,

which people foster now.”

May our good stewardship help us to be numbered

among the chosen on the last day!

This year our parish goal for the United Catholic Appeal

is $27,413.

Please be generous with your

Time, Talent and Treasure.

Friends of St. Anthony will be collecting women's gently used win-

ter coats for Sheltering Wings. The sizes needed the most are Large

and Extra Large. Medium-sized coats are also needed. Hats, scarves

and gloves also would help keep them warm this winter. Thank you for

sharing with others.

Please be aware that any articles/submissions for the Sunday,

November 29, bulletin must be submitted by Friday, November 20, at

6:00 p.m. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, Liturgical Publications,

which prints the bulletin, will be printing it at an earlier date. Your co-

operation with meeting this earlier deadline will be most appreciated.

Thank you.

“God has found me worthy to be a minister of His Gospel,

and so when I speak, I strive to please God and not men.”

1 Thessalonians 2:4

+ Dear Friends,

In today’s Gospel, we hear the series of events that

will signal the second coming of Christ. “Heaven and

earth will pass away,” Jesus tells us, “but my words will

not pass away.”

Jesus is reassuring us that His return will not signal

a final end to life. The Lord promises us a life that will

endure after this earth passes away. Today’s readings

are fitting as we experience the ending of another litur-

gical year and stand on the threshold of another, which

will begin with the First Sunday of Advent.

Our Lord’s words do, however, give us warning

and significant pause for prayer. How will we each ap-

pear before Him at His return? What will the “scales”

look like regarding our lives? No one is able to answer

for our own personal lives and the decisions, for good

or bad, which we have made. That, will be our sole

responsibility.

Rather than make us paranoid or scared stiff, this

fact of our religious lives, should make us grateful for

the Lord’s blessings and our faith! It should make us

more cognizant of our actions, words and attitudes in

our daily lives! It should make us take our Catholic

Faith much more seriously than we normally do; its

practice, its fervor and its commitment! Apathy and

indifference are two of the deadliest sins we each will

no doubt present before the throne of God. Today’s

Gospel gives us an opportunity to prayerfully reflect

and re-prioritize if need be….thanks be to God!

I thank ALL who have thus far made a pledge to

the United Catholic Appeal AND thank those who also

have made inquiry and commitment to share their time

and talent with our parish as well! If you have not

made your pledge or turned in your card, PLEASE do

so this week! Extra cards remain in the pews for your

convenience!

My personal thanks to all for your kind gifts of

cards, words and remembrances shown for my birth-

day this past Wednesday, Veterans’ Day! I know, one

does not get older; one gets better. Yeah, right! I won-

der who ever came up with that one?! May the good

God continue to bless us, one and all!

Can you spare a few minutes to write to one of our young

adults away from home? 3-4 times until May, keep them con-

nected with events in the parish and their faith by sending

them some local info, interest and support while they're away,

maybe a care package for finals week. Contact Matthew

Fallon to get your "parish pen-pal".

Today is the middle school/high school/family/parishioner

trip to see the exhibits "Journeys in Faith", and "The Shroud of

Turin” - come and join us after the 10:30 Mass. The cost

drops $5 if we bring a group of at least 20 (to $10 and $5 for

students); if fewer than 20 people come the price goes up.

Sometimes our catechists need to be away from home.

Can you occasionally be an aide in the classroom as a sub-

stitute? You will not need to be a lead teacher, just help

support the lesson and activities.

The Level 1 religious education class is in need of an-

other catechist! Materials to lead class will be provided.

Will you please join us, and share your faith with our young

students? Call Matthew for details, or to volunteer.

Reminder to Level 2 parents: baptismal certificates

from another parish, and Sacramental preparation fees are

due today! Checks can be made out to "Mary, Queen of

Peace."

Our religious education Christmas play will be presented

by members of the Level 3 and Level 4 classes, after the 8

a.m. Mass (by 9:15 a.m.) on December 13. All are invited to

share the story of Christmas with our young parishioners!

On Valentine’s Day, 2015, the parish council held a

visioning day exercise. The output of that exercise was a

unanimous voice that the parish needs better facilities

(namely, a multipurpose building including a gym, new

classrooms, a kitchen, music room, storage areas, and a

parish office outside of the priest house).

Therefore, the parish council recently sanctioned a

team of parishioners to look more closely at the parish

needs and outline a plan for building a facility to meet

those needs. As a key part of that process, the team

wants to get feedback from parishioners on what is really

needed to assure we have the right scope in mind.

Therefore, we will be setting up two town halls to

gather feedback from members of the parish before we

solidify the scope of our project. Those meetings will be

held Tuesday, November 17, and Tuesday, December 1,

from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the basement of the church.

Please bring your ideas for sharing with the group.

We will be not only collecting ideas but also sharing some

concepts that have been developed to- date by the team

for your feedback. We look forward to talking to you.

Our annual parish Christmas

party will be Sunday, December 6,

immediately following the 10:30

Mass. Meat and drinks will be pro-

vided and we ask that everyone

bring a side dish or dessert to

share. We will have a Christmas craft for the kids, cookie

decorating and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Please join us and enjoy some holiday cheer. If you have

any questions, or would like to help with this event, please

call or text Michelle Pritchett at 446-1869.
