A Better Holidayin 5 Easy StepsDuring the holidays, the average American spends the equivalent of a work week shopping, wrapping, returning gifts, attending parties, and traveling. Strained schedules and strained wallets can easily add up to more stress!

1. Live in the moment. Stress and distress are often related to worrying about the future or fretting about the past. Make a conscious effort at least twice a day to take a step back and enjoy where you’re at. 2. Know when to say “no.” Make clear decisions about how you want to spend your time and money, and do it early! Consider what is most important to you. It’s okay to politely turn down an invitation or stick to a gift budget. 3. Make time for your family. Gift-giving can be fun, but don’t let the stress of hunting for the perfect present interfere with the real joy of the holidays: extra time with your family! Holiday chores can be intentional family time, but you should take time to relax with your loved ones, too.

4. Have compassion for yourself and others. Try not to think about how people “should be.” Accept them as they are – they will not be changing any time soon –and release the tension from your body. Letting go of things you can’t control can help reduce stress any time of year.

5. Ask for help when you need it. Keep yourself from getting overwhelmed by splitting up your to-do list among your family members. The holidays and the change in season can make mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, crop up. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays, ask for extra help from your loved ones, and seek support from a counselor or other professional. Remember –it’s okay to take time for yourself!

Let’s take the pressure off this year, parents! Here are five tips to help you relax this holiday season:

Prevent the Flu Now! Save Headaches And Lives Later

YOU WILL NEED:Construcion Paper | Pom Pom | Paper Cup | Googly Eyes

Instructions:1. Paint a paper cup brown. Turn the cup upside down and glue a pom-pom to the top of the

cup for the head.

2. Cut nine leaf shapes from different colors of construction paper

3. cut a triangle shape out of yellow paper for the beak. Cut a heart shape from red paper to

create the turkey’s wattle.

4. Glue the beak and wattle to the pom-pom. Add googly eyes.

5. Glue on the “feathers.”

Children’s immune systems aren’t fully developed. That means they’re more likely to get the flu and experience potentially fatal complications.

Try your best to take these preventative measures to keep your child and others healthy.Vaccination is the best protection against the flu. Everyone 6 months of age and older should receive the flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available. Vaccination is especially important for children 6 months to 5 years old, and for kids with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease. Even if your child is older and perfectly healthy, keep in mind that getting them vaccinated can keep the flu from spreading to others who are more likely to experience complications. Same goes for caregivers of children or anyone who comes into contact with children, the elderly, or other at-risk individuals.

Other Ways to Stop the Spread of Infection:•Frequently wash your hands with soap and water. Alcohol-based

hand sanitizer is acceptable in a pinch.•Avoid contact with those who are sick.•If your child is sick, keep them away from others until at least 24

hours after his or her fever naturally subsides.•Cover your mouth and noise with a tissue when you cough or

sneeze. Then throw the tissue in the trash, and wash your hands.•Frequently clean and disinfect hard surfaces and objects that

could be contaminated.
