PVC GUMBOOT RECYCLINGMatta Products Ltd is a New Zealand owned and operated manufacturer of safety matting used in children’s playgrounds and industrial locations across the world.

Matta have manufactured mats at their Otaki factory for

the passed 18 years. The mats have always been made from

recycled PVC which has been sourced from around

New Zealand and overseas. Annually Matta use in excess of

1000 tonnes of PVC.

With pressure on raw materials (recycled and virgin) globally,

Matta as a company is constantly looking for new supplies.

This lead Matta into a programme with NZ Safety to recycle

PVC Gumboots.

The recycling process is as follows:

• Bata Safemate Gumboots have toe cap removed

then granulated into 3-4mm chip.

• The Gumboot granule PVC is then mixed with

other PVC and other additives.

• Mixture is heated to 95°C in blending mixer.

• Once mixture has passed several QA procedures

it is ready for manufacture.

• The manufacturing is carried out by Injection Moulding process.

• Final product is then shipped to customers in New Zealand,

USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Asia, and South America.
