    Over 1 GWp in

    installations equipped withIngeconSun inverters

Ingeteam boasts a long, proven track record in the indus-trial and energy sectors, which stretches back to 1972,clearly demonstrating the companys ongoing policy of te-chnological development. In the nineties, Ingeteam becamemore involved in the development of electrical and controlsystems specic to the renewable energies sector; this wasinitially directed at the wind power and hydroelectric sectorsand then, from 2001 onwards, our company broadening itsscope to encompass the PV solar energy sector as well.

Since then we have provided our customers with more than1 GW of power with IngeconSun photovoltaic inverters. This conrms Ingeteam as one of the world leaders in thePV sector.

At Ingeteam, we have extensive experience in the designand supply of grid-connected inverters for power ratingsranging from 100 to 625 kW, for large-scale PV farms.

We also specialise in the design and manufacture of high-power hybrid inverters for stand-alone installations, havingsupplied this type of inverter principally to the regions ofPacic Asia and Africa.

One of our key benchmark projects is the Acciona SolarPV plant at Amareleja (Portugal); this plant is the largest ofits kind in the world, having an installed power of 46 MWp.For this project, Ingeteam designed a holistic solution witha medium voltage output including: 2,520 IngeconSunString Control for monitoring the PV array string currentsand 70 IngeconSun 500TL inverters. This solution inclu-ded the design of a housing for each inverter, comprising aprefabricated concrete enclosure to hold the medium volta-

ge transformer, protection cells, auxiliary electric panels andthe thermal dissipation system.

The 60 MWp Nobesol solar farm situated in Olmedilla (Spain)is another important project in which Ingeteam has participa-ted, supplying more than 450, IngeconSun100 inverters.

The perfect combination for improved performanceand ease of plant maintenance

    Power Maxter

During periods of low irradiance, particularly at dawn and

dusk, PV plants have a low energy output. To help resolvethis situation, Ingeteam has developed a totally new designconcept to optimise the operation of its IngeconSunPowerMax inverters for increased plant performance during theselow production periods. This is achieved by connecting anumber of power blocks to the same DC bus. The systembalances out the work between the power blocks, therebyextending the useful life of the whole unit.

The IngeconSun 500TL and IngeconSun 625TL gene-rate 500 and 625 kW of AC rated power at 45C in theHT (High Temperature) mode and 550 and 690 kW of ACpower at 40C in the HP (High Power) mode respectively.

These inverters are divided into four independent 125 and156 kW stages and features four DC inputs associated withone maximum power point tracker MPPT.

The IngeconSunPower inverters have been designed withcomponents which offer a useful life of more than 20 years. There is a standard 5 year guarantee which can be exten-ded for a period of up to 25 years.

The MPPTs connected through TL inverters to the sametransformer must have the same voltage conguration.

    Highlights

This Master Slave option makes it possible to use the Ingeteaminverter at PV plants operating with thin-lm modules.

Yet another important advantage of the IngeconSun PowerMax range is that plant maintenance can be performed instages. The fact that the electronics is concentrated in blocksmakes it easy for maintenance personnel to quickly replace anyof the blocks, should any incident occur, with no interruptions tothe plant energy production.

Plant availability increases due to the fact that the PV arraypower is distributed to all the power blocks.

This is extremely useful considering the fact that the majority ofinverter breakdowns are electronics-related. Should any of thefour stages fail, the remaining three stages will continue to ope-rate so that almost all the inverter power is maintained.

This product offers cost savings of around 20% compared tothe use of 100 kW equipment.

    Further system advantages include:

    High output

Low maintenance costs. Same kit for the 4 inverter blocks.

    Modular inverters. Simple maintenance.

Fast reception of spares, thanks to the use of lightweight, compact components.

In the event of a block breakdown, less than 1/4 of theinverter power is lost.

Low installation and connection costs, thank to the invertercompactness.

Simple component replacement, built-in diagnostic systems.

With a cooling system: guaranteed rated power of up to

    40/45C.Polypropylene capacitors.

    System for reducing interfering inductance.

    Built-in LCD monitoring screen.

Built-in Datalogger for up to 3 months data storage.

The IngeconWind family of grid-connected inverters are desig-

ned to adapt the energy produced by wind turbines and deliverit to the electricity grid, being fully compliant with the regulationsin force. This new IngeconWind inverter range can be adaptedto suit a wide range of mini-wind turbine systems, operating bet-ween 2,500 W to 6,000 W.

Given the extensive variety of wind turbines on the market, grid-connected inverters must be able to adapt to the specic charac-teristic curves of each particular wind turbine, in order to permitmaximum energy extraction and grid delivery at all times.

In addition to achieving constant maximum energy extraction, theIngeconWind guarantees the safety of the mini-wind system.

Like the PV inverters, the Ingecon

Wind inverter range incorpo-rates the communication and monitoring interfaces required forlocal or remote system surveillance.

The inverters are easy to install and are compliant with the regu-lations in force in the principal countries around the world.

    IngeconWind Interface

In order to deliver the energy produced by a mini-wind turbine to thegrid, a grid-connected inverter is required. The alternating current (AC)

voltage generated by a wind turbine presents variations in voltage andfrequency which are determined by the wind turbine speed of rotation. The IngeconWindInterface (IWI) converts this AC voltage to directcurrent (DC) whilst protecting the IngeconWind from any abruptvoltage variations by discharging any excess energy produced into adischarge resistor, thereby protecting the system. The unit formed bythe IngeconWind and the IWI adapt the wind energy produced to thepublic grid connection requirements. The possibility of parameterisingeach particular wind turbine curve and measuring the wind turbinespeed of rotation guarantees maximum energy extraction at eachoperating point, within a wide range of speeds of rotation.

ProtectionsThe IngeconWind inverters are equipped with the followingelectrical protections against:

Galvanic isolation between the DC and AC side (only in thecase of inverters with a galvanic isolation AC transformer).

    Reverse polarity.

    Input and output overvoltage.

    Output short-circuits and overloads.

Remote control enables real time operation and supervision of

the PV installations and is an essential tool for guaranteeing thehighest level of availability.

It is adapted to the requirements of each installation and canincorporate new features based on modular SCADA architecture.

It is scalable and exible thanks to its OPC based client / server

    architecture.

The Remote Controller can integrate the Substation and anyother device that may be remotely controlled. It is compatiblewith a multitude of protocols and supports (ADSL, RDSI, GSM,GPRS, Internet, bre optics, radio, microwaves, and satellite).

In the case that signals not coming from the inverter should beimplemented in the SCADA, such as the status of automatics, temperatures, etc., communication remotes would need to beinstalled in each of the enclosures. In the case of Power MaxInverters, this remote would need to be installed in the AC andauxiliary services enclosure.
