Tēnā koutou e te whānau, We are back into full swing and learning our routines of the akomanga and kura. Our tamariki are enjoying their new pouako, akomanga and engaging in new learning and expectations. While it saddens us to have farewelled our long time, dedicated colleagues it is exciting to have new staff that are inspirational and committed to supporting the many roles all staff do to ensure our tamariki achieve. On that note we invite all whānau to a “Meet the Pouako” evening on Wednesday 13 th February at kura from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Kura Teina which is Kurahaupō, Puketōtara, Whātonga and Rangiotū will meet in Te Awe Awe at 5:15pm. Then whānau will visit the akomanga that your child or children are in. At 6:15pm whānau of Kura Teina will come back to meet for a sausage sizzle. Whānau of Kura Pakeke will arrive at 6:15pm to join in with a sausage sizzle. They will then meet in Arawaru for their hui at 6:45pm. This is an opportunity to meet staff and your child’s pouako. Welcome to our new tamariki and pouako.
We have started the year with a roll of 91 students. At our pōwhiri last Thursday we welcomed new staff along with our new tamariki.
Whāea Emerly Todd is a raukura from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Tāmaki-nui-a-rua and in her second year teaching.
Whāea Pamela Keelan comes from te kura o Uru Mutu and comes with many skills, music, maara kai and taken up the role of Senco.
Whāea Phyllis Fitzgerald is from Palmerston North Intermediate School and brings with her a wealth of knowledge that we welcome and appreciate. She will also do dual leadership for PB4L.

Hauora With the current heat please send a full water bottle - and why not freeze it to keep it cold. Hats are in order too - and we would prefer a bucket hat rather than a cap as we are more concerned with sunstroke and dehydration. Talk to your tamaiti about keeping sun and heat safe. We do have some sun hats and plenty of sun block but we need our tamariki also to take responsibility for sun smart. Tamariki are required to wear a hat for Term 1 and Term 4 of the year.
Te Taenga atu ki te kura … • Ensure you are dropping tamariki off at Rhodes Drive on the same side of the kura. Tamariki are to
use the pedestrian gate and not to enter through carpark driveway. The Rhodes Drive carpark is for staff and service vehicles only and people with a disability.
• or drop off tamariki at Peter Hall Drive where there are carparks available for whānau. The broken yellow lines around the roundabout is a caution to not stop there.
