(Life) Businesses are Crazy about Halloween As Well

Halloween is coming next week! Besides children’s usual ‘Trick or Treat’ activities, some hot spring B&B’s have even set up haunted houses, pouring red wine into the hot spring to redden it in order to attract customers.

• Amusement parks in Hsinchu are offering special cuisines full of visual effects, making both adults and children very excited. Children’s costumes are cute. Some are wearing fake long finger nails, and some are in pirate’s costumes, taking a pumpkin barrel in order to ask for candies. Candy shops say that the ‘Trick or Treat’ activities as well as the parties held during Halloween can help them make a lot of money.

Dialogue Example:

(Halloween) Peyton and Brooke are good friends. They’re talking about their Halloween costumes. Let’s listen to their conversation.

Peyton: Halloween is finally coming! I’m so excited!

Brooke: Yeah! What are you going to wear?

Peyton: I kind of want to dress up like a pirate. Sounds cool, right?

Brooke: But I think my vampire costume is much cooler!

Peyton: I think we should find someone fair to judge.

Brooke: Okay, no problem. But we can’t ask Tim.

Peyton: Why not?

Brooke: Because he will only judge it based on how many candies we each get, and not whether our costumes are really cool.
