When the calendar changed eight years ago, I wrote to all of you that I like to consider myself a forward thinker. That certainly hasn’t changed. However, I know that you can’t be a forward thinker without examining the successes of the past. I’m struck by the similarities of that Publisher Update of 2004. This year, as we did then, we can expect a presi-dential election. In the summer, the Olympics will be held in London. Time has a way of bringing the same events, but it also has a way of changing them, too. In just eight short years, we’ve seen some major changes in technology. Would you have guessed eight years ago that you could have held in one hand a tablet no bigger than a pad of paper which provided you access to information from across the globe? Our tools and fashions change, and here at Helen Brett En-terprises, we pride ourselves on not only keeping up with new trends, but anticipating them. All the while, however, we keep what works with a mind to making those realities even better for our friends.

While I can’t predict the winner of the next election nor who will walk away with which gold medals, I can tell you that Helen Brett Enterprises will be a provider of quality Gift and Jewelry Shows for another exciting year. And, I truly do mean exciting. Some yearly occurrences—say tax time, for instance—roll by unchanged, but our shows keep get-

ting better thanks to all of you. So, I hope you share in my excitement as we prepare not only for the remaining shows this year, but also look ahead to the ones in years to come.

The Mid-South Jewelry & AcceSSorieS FAir, at the lovely Memphis Cook Convention Center, opens on Friday, April 27, 2012. This show debuted in 1991. Twenty-one years later, with nearly two-hundred seventy five booths, this always-exciting show offers you the best in jewelry, fashion and specialty items from around the world. It seems like just yesterday I was writing the Publisher Update for 2004. The old adage that “time flies when you’re having fun” has never seemed truer. With 2012 now firmly upon us, I can’t help but look back at the last several years and smile. While certainly, not every moment of every year has been “fun,” the majority of the images that pass before me are those of friendly encounters and fine products. And, as I reflect, I can’t help but look forward to what this year holds for all of us.
