It might be minus 6 degrees outside and blowing a gale, but the fact both myself and my assistant are still working illustrates the limited need for traditional town centre office accommodation. Many businesses can still continue to operate using modern technology. Fifteen years ago all professional businesses needed a smart office. Laptops were just coming in to use, never mind the i-phone* or the galaxy. The ever reducing demand for traditional town centre office accommodation has limited the growth in office rents for many investors, whilst the demand for industrial units (of almost any size) continues to produce good returns for those who have invested in this sector. Small Business Rates Relief 2018 / 2019

These figures are based on the Small Business non-domestic multiplier for 2018 / 2019 which has been set by central government at 48p in the pound.

Below are two tables, the first shows the rates payable from April 2018 by businesses able to claim Small Business Rates Relief who occupy a single property having a Rateable Value between £12,000 and £15,000, for the financial year

2018 / 2019. The second shows the percentage of relief available for each rateable value.

Since the 1st April 2017 businesses occupying only one property with a rateable value below £12,000 should be paying NO rates.
