Principal’s report
Sport galore!
Over the past few weeks we have had many of our
students participating in a variety of school, district and
Riverina sporting events. While we have had lots of
success in many of these sports, the thing that always
makes me proud is the wonderful enthusiasm,
teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by Junee
North children. Read more about these later in this
newsletter.
Indigenous workshops
Today and tomorrow all classes will be involved in a
series of exciting workshops with guest presenter Mark
Saddler. Mark will share his knowledge and skills with
each class in a fun-filled session of aboriginal song,
dance, art and craft. Lots more stories and photos in
our next newsletter.
K-2 excursion
Our K-2 children got to have a very special outing last
Wednesday when they travelled to the Civic Theatre,
followed by a picnic in the Botanical Gardens. I have
included some great photos and recounts written by
some of the children in 1/2W about their special day.
Thank you boys and girls for your beautiful behaviour
on the day.
Junee High School Production
Next Thursday our students get the opportunity to
view the Junee High School production, ‘To Have and
to Hold.’ A reminder that permission notes and money
($3) are due by next Tuesday. Let’s give our support to
the talented Junee High students.
P&C raffle
A reminder that our P&C are holding a wood raffle
outside IGA this Saturday. Thank you to those parents
who have volunteered a little of their time to help sell
tickets. If you can spare an hour to help out, please
contact Natasha Harpley at school.

Reminders…………
Medical Updates -
Many of our families would have received letters
regarding updating their child’s medical status and
health care plans. We cannot stress how important
having correct, up-to-date information is to us. In
order for us to provide the best possible care for your
child in the event of a medical emergency, please
ensure these plans and other information is returned
by next week.
Paper-less newsletter from Term 3
From Term 3 our newsletter will be available via our
website, our Skoolbag app or email (email request
form attached – needs to be returned by the end of
this term). Limited copies only will be available from
the office.
Junee High Production
A reminder that the Junee High School production is
being held next Thusday. Permission notes and $3
entry need to be returned by next Tuesday.
Stage 2 & 3 excursions
Deposits ($100) are due by Friday 27 June. No late
deposits will be accepted as payments for
accommodation must be finalised.
Thumbs up!
To all of our sporting representatives this term. We
have achieved some amazing successes – but more
importantly, their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and
fantastic attitudes have made us proud. Well done!

Sports News
State hockey for Riley!
A huge congratulations to Riley Makeham! Riley has
been selected in the Boy’s Riverina hockey squad to
compete at the state championships. Riley will travel to
Sydney to compete at the state championships from
June 24 – 26.
Well done Riley – we are very proud of you. Good luck!
Girls’ basketball
Our girls basketball team travelled to Temora last week
to compete in the first round of the PSSA knockout.
Many of our girls had never played before and it was a
credit to all of them how well they played and the
enthusiasm displayed. Unfortunately Temora were too
strong in the end, winning 29 – 17. Great effort girls.
Great effort girls!
Girls’ soccer
What a fantastic effort from our girls’ soccer team last
Thursday. In their second round of the NSW PSSA
Knockout they had a resounding win of 6 to 0 goals
defeating Young North Public School. Once again
great teamwork, a never-give-up attitude and some
talented play was on display. The girls now wait to find
out which team they will play in Round 3.
District Athletics
Last Tuesday our team over 40 athletes travelled to
Cootamundra to compete in the District PSSA Athletics
carnival. All students competed with tremendous
effort, with many successes and personal bests
achieved. A special congratulations to Nick Hogarth (1st
10 yr boys champion); Kye Wright (2nd
10 yr boys
champion); Tahlia White (2nd
1o yr girls champion) and
Brooke Harpley (3rd
Senior girls champion). We are still
waiting to see which of our students have been
successful in making it into the district team. These
students will compete in the Riverina Athletics carnival
on 23 June at Albury.
Well done Nick and Kye – 10 year age champion and
runner up.

Riverina Cross Country
On Tuesday 7 of our cross country champions travelled
all the way to Deniliquin to compete in the Riverina
Cross Country as part of the Cootamundra District
team. Over 500 students were competing on the day
from all over the Riverina. All of our runners produced
outstanding results and should be extremely proud of
themselves. Results were:
Maggie Hawke – 39 (8/9 yr girls)
Jaxson Allen – 15 (8/9 yr boys)
Tahlia White – 13 (10 yr girls)
Nick Hogarth – 18 (10 yr boys)
Kye Wright – 19 (10 yr boys)
Grace Fahy – 33 (11 yr girls)
Arianne Crowley – 35 (11 yr girls)
What’s happening in our school?
Year 4 get a ‘taste’ of high school
How very lucky were our Year 4 students recently! For
the first time Junee High School organised a special
‘taster’ session, giving our Year 4 children a taste of
some high school life.
The Year 4 children had the opportunity to experience
an agriculture and a science session, with lots of
demonstrations and hands-on activities.
There are more ‘taster’ sessions planned for Term 3.
Thank you Junee High – we had a great time!
Shearing demonstrations, checking out wool samples
and discovering worlds under a micrsoscope – some
wonderful opportunities experienced by Year 4.

K-2 excursion
The Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 children had the
opportunity last Wednesday to travel to the Wagga
Civic Theatre for a performance of ‘Walamanayuwi and
the Seven Pamanui’ followed by a lovely picnic in the
park. As these photos show, they had a wonderful
time! Below are some recounts written by some of the
children in 1/2W.
A bus trip, a play, a picnic in the park and a playground
full of fun – what more could K-2 want?!

On Wednesday the 4 June infants went to Wagga on
an excursion to the Civic heater and Botanic Gardens
to have lunch and recess. We all had fun, it was the
best.
Mya Chisholm
On Wednesday 4 June infants went to the Civic
Theatre. We went to see Walamanayuwi and the seven
Pamaui. After the show was done we went to the
Botanic Gardens for lunch and recess. After everyone
was done we got to play. It was very fun. I want to go
again.
Chloe Masters
Wednesday 4 June we went to the Civic Theatre. We
watched Walamanayuwi and the Seven Pamaui. After
that we had lunch at the Botanic Gardens. When
everyone was finished we got to play. I played on the
spider web, flying fox, dizzy thing and the maze. Then
it was time to go back to school. When I was on the
bus I fell asleep on my chair.
Ruby Lemmich
On Wednesday we went to the Civic Theatre and the
Botanic Gardens and there was a flying fox and a
spider web.
Fletcher Randell
This week on Wednesday we went on an excursion to
the Civic Theatre in Wagga to see Walamanayuwi and
the Seven Pamanui. After the play was over infants
went to the Botanic Gardens and it was fun on the
spider web. It was especially fun on the flying fox. The
flying fox was the best thing about it.
Tristan Davis
On Wednesday the 4th
June the infants people went on
an excursion to the Civic Theatre. We watched
Walamanayuwi and the Seven Pamnui. The show went
for about an hour. In the beginning a man walked on
in sunglasses and a blue scarf and he danced. Later in
the show he came out with the same stuff on but that
time he came out with high heels on. After the show
we went to the Botanic Gardens to have lunch and
recess. We all had a play. Some other schools were
there too. Casey Watkins saw one of his old friends,
Jake. On the way home I sat next to Torah Newman.
When we got to school me and Torah did some
drawing. The end.

Robo Cup victories
Yesterday our two Robotics teams competed in the
annual Wagga Robo Cup challenge held at CSU. We
entered two teams – a beginner team in the ‘dance’
section: Tahlia White, Ellie Crawford, Brandon Collins &
Megha Paul), and an intermediate team in the ‘rescue’
challenge: Jordan Hawke, Kiara Longmore, Mathew
Hindmarsh, Dylan Gustowski and Kasey Miller.
Congratulations to both teams on their enthusiasm,
excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork. The
dance group even had to create a dance to accompany
their robot’s dance! (we will put a video of this on our
website for you to view). Our dance team were
successful in winning the junior Dance section, with our
rescue team placing second. Congratulations teams!
Our victorious ‘dance’ team
Well done Brandon, Tahlia, Megha and Ellie

Health spot
Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
As some of you may know the old food pyramid has
now been replaced with The Australian Guide to
Healthy Eating. As part of the PD/H/PE syllabus all
students from K-6 will learn about this to different
degrees starting with exposure to the different groups
and sorting foods and leading onto learning about the
nutrients each group offers, how they benefit the body,
where the foods originate from and planning healthy
menus. The most noticeable change is the absence of
the fats and oils group. These, along with other
unhealthy foods, are now referred to as ‘sometimes’
foods and not as part of a healthy diet.
P&C News
From the canteen
A huge thank you to Janette Tailford and the Monday
volunteers for their wonderful commitment and
dedication to our canteen. Unfortunately decreased
sales have resulted in the ceasing of our Monday
canteen. Canteen will now operate on Fridays only,
with uniforms available via order (forms available from
the office or on our website and Skoolbag app). The
uniform shop will open Fridays from 2pm to 3 pm.
P&C Raffle - reminder
On Saturday 14 June we will be selling raffle tickets in a
wood raffle outside IGA. Helpers will be needed from
8:00 – 1:00. Thank you to those parents who have
volunteered their time. Please come along and support
our P&C’s fundraising endeavours. Proceeds from this
fundraiser will be put towards a shade sail to go over
our new seating area for the students.
Important – bus trip
This is the last year I will be able to organise the bus
trip, as I will no longer have any children attending
Junee North. Unfortunately we have not had any other
Junee North parents willing to take on this
organization. If you know of anyone who would be
interested in organising this trip for their school or
club/ association please let me know. Sherri Longmore,
P&C Treasurer; Ph 69242263, 0431566972
