Public Relations letters

Public Relations letters are friendly letters periodically sent by organizations to their customers or prospects. It is also called Goodwill letters. The main function is to convey a friendly, usually unexpected, message that builds goodwill and brightens the image of the organizations among the general public. The importance of writing such letters has been raised only recently. Letters of thanks, congratulations, and sympathy are examples of public relations letters. Since these letters come to the recipients unexpectedly, they come as a pleasant surprise and are always welcome.

Public relations letters do not bring any immediate rewards. But the labor or effort put in them does not go waste. Since a public relations letters is received unexpectedly, it is not forgotten easily. The message contained in it always remains at the back of the mind. Later, whenever the recipient is to purchase any related product or service, it prompts him to approach the organization from which he had once received the message.
